Chapter 477: Welcome To The Family (3)
"Why did you do that?" Julia couldn’t help but ask as soon as they disappeared from view.
"Just because," Alex replied with a soft grin. "I’m in a good mood, and that girl had good potential."
"He’s just happy at the fact that he is now an uncle." Ross casually chipped in. Glancing at his best friend, he added. "Of course, he wanted everyone to know as well." He knew Alexander all too well.
"Hehe," Julia suddenly giggled, catching the attention of the others. "I wonder how happy he’d be when he becomes a father." The Knight princess had a foolish grin on her face as she grabbed Alex’s left arm and leaned her head on his shoulder.
"..."
Alex simply smiled and rubbed her head affectionately. Ross, on the other hand, couldn’t believe his ears. While this was an eventuality given the relationship between Alex and Julia, the redhead did not expect to hear that.
’Tsk, when am I gonna get my better half?’ Ross clicked his tongue in bitterness. ’I’ve been so focused on getting as strong as possible that I haven’t paid any mind to romance.’
’You’ll be fine. The one for you is around somewhere, you just have to pay attention.’
Hearing Alex’s voice in his head, the redhead turned to look at his friend and then shook his head. It wasn’t like that person was going to show up around the corner.
Soon, the trio arrived at the waiting area, where Alex’s parents and brother got up to receive Julia and Ross. For the last couple of months, the family had heard nothing from these two.
Regardless, Alex had explained that their absence was due to the training they had been doing for the past months. Hence, Julia was in the clear as Sarah was particularly unhappy about her son’s missing girlfriend.
"It’s been a while, Julia..." Sarah walked over to Julia, taking her hands in hers. "It’s good to finally see you after several months." The two exchanged a quick hug before stepping back.
"I’m so sorry, Mrs. Gray." Julia lowered her head and apologised, her hands still held in Sarah’s hands. "It was hard keeping track of time."
"Don’t worry about it, sweetie." Sarah cupped Julia’s cheeks in her hands, raising her head to look directly into her eyes. "Alex explained everything to us. Also, you should know better than to call me Mrs. Gray."
Julia couldn’t help but smile. "Yes, Mom." She nodded and then hugged her again. "I’ve missed you very much."
Sarah stepped back once more and turned to Ross, who had already exchanged a handshake with William and Aaron. She moved closer to the redhead and brought the over 2 meters tall man into a hug.
"How have you been, son?" Sarah asked affectionately, rubbing Ross’s back.
"I’m doing great, ma’am," Ross replied calmly, the two separating soon after. "And I can see you’re doing great yourself."
"Aw, thank you." Sarah couldn’t help but smile despite her anxious state. She would have rubbed Ross on the head if she could have reached it, and so, made do with his cheeks.
The doors to the delivery room opened at this moment, drawing everyone’s attention, especially Sarah’s and William’s, who were the most eager.
"Doctor, how was the delivery?" Sarah asked before arriving in front of the female obstetrician who took care of the delivery. "How’s the mother? The baby?"
Like most people in the maternity ward, they heard the cry of their grandchild. Even so, Sarah couldn’t help but worry — not until she saw her daughter and grandchild.
"Calm down, Mrs. Gray." The doctor gestured for the eager family to relax. "Everyone is fine. The baby was safely delivered — both mother and child are fine."
"Hah... Thank you, doctor." Sarah touched her chest as a heavy sigh escaped her tensed body. "Can we go see them?"
"Of course," The doctor stepped aside, allowing Alex’s parents and brother to go inside, leaving Ross, Julia and Alex behind.
"Doctor..." Alex turned to the doctor, moving in close. "Thank you for your hard work." He presented a hand for the doctor to take.
"Don’t mention it, Lord Alexander." The doctor took Alexander’s hand with both hands and shook it. "I was just doing my job." She kept her expression professional. However, inside, she was dying to scream her lungs out.
"You can let go now, doctor." Alex’s voice snapped the woman out of her reverie.
"Oh, I apologise for my rudeness," The woman quickly stepped back. "I must be tired from the delivery..." She explained with a nervous laugh.
When she looked at Julia, the poor doctor felt a cold shiver run down her spine, making her swallow nervously. ’I forget about her...’
"I-If you’ll excuse me..." The doctor made her way past the trio, making sure not to walk anywhere close to Julia. Under the piercing glare of Julia, the doctor quickly disappeared from the scene.
"Come on, Julia." Alex shook his head, dragging Julia by the hand. "She’s harmless..."
"Hmph!" The Knight princess scoffed, "She’s lucky she let go before I froze her to death."
"And that’s why I sealed your powers," Alex added with a sigh. "Your intent would have been enough to make that happen."
Entering the delivery room, the trio were welcomed to the scene of Sarah gently holding her grandchild in her arms, while William stood by her side, cooing at the baby boy.
On the delivery bed was Olivia, who looked on affectionately. Despite just giving birth, she looked great.
There was barely any trace of fatigue in her eyes — the nurse healers did a great job making sure she was okay. Beside her on the bed was her husband, Shawn, who accompanied her throughout the delivery process.
Aaron stood on the other side of the bed with a hand on Olivia’s shoulder, silently showing his support. The nurses who helped with the delivery were already making their way out to give the family space.
"Brother..." Olivia’s expression brightened seeing her first younger brother and friends. "You brought them over. Don’t just stand there..." She gestured for them to get closer.
"Congratulations, sis." Alex said to his sister as Aaron made room for him and his friends. Placing a hand on her shoulder, Alex optimised her body, removing the last traces of fatigue from her.
The effects were immediate, shocking Olivia into a stupor. The circles under her eyes disappeared, colour returned to her face, and her weak body went back to peak condition as a refreshing rush of energy circulated through her body.
A smile quickly replaced Olivia’s shocked expression. She looked up at Alex and said, "Thanks, little brother."
"Don’t mention it."
