The Useless Heiress Is Actually A Bigshot-Chapter 158 - : Refusal
Chapter 158: Chapter 158: Refusal
Watching Shen Yixue seemingly sincerely apologize, Zhong Niangyao’s expression remained unchanged, and even her languid posture didn’t alter. “So, you came here today just to apologize to me?”
“Nianyao, I really didn’t do it on purpose.” Shen Yixue had an urgent expression on her face. “This competition is critical to my life. Li Jingming’s mother once said that if I could win first place in this competition, she would agree to my relationship with Jingming.”
“When I went to submit my artwork, I saw your painting. Your painting was simply too good; I couldn’t match it. I couldn’t lose this competition; otherwise, Jingming and I would have no chance at all. That’s why I made such a mistake in a moment of confusion.”
“I sincerely want to apologize. Considering our past friendship, please forgive me this time!”
“And then?”
Zhong Niangyao didn’t speak of forgiveness but simply smiled and continued, “You probably didn’t come today just to apologize, did you?”
...
“Nianyao, I—”

Before she could finish, Zhong Niangyao cut her off, “Shen Yixue, don’t try to claim any emotional connection with me. You know very well if there’s any bond between us. So, you don’t need to beat around the bush here. Better state your real purpose directly, so as not to waste everyone’s time.”
Zhong Niangyao’s tone was very faint, revealing no emotion.
However, to Shen Yixue, this was a lofty disdain. She felt humiliated by Zhong Niangyao and would have liked to leave right then and there. But reason told her that the situation no longer allowed for rash actions.
After a moment of silence, Shen Yixue spoke with difficulty again, “Nianyao, this incident was my fault. But you haven’t lost anything, have you? So, I hope you can plead with the school on my behalf, to not record this incident as a demerit.”
At this point, tears welled up in Shen Yixue’s eyes, her voice tinged with sadness, “Nianyao, you and I are different; you had everything from birth. No matter how hard I strive, I can’t reach your level. If the school records a demerit, it will truly ruin my life.”
“So, you want me, the victim, to plead for you?” Zhong Niangyao laughed as if she heard a joke, “Are you sure that what you are saying now is something a sane person would say?”
“Nianyao, this really hasn’t caused you any loss, has it?”
Shen Yixue grew desperate, her tone becoming more agitated, “You’ve already exposed me in front of so many people, leaving me utterly humiliated. Besides, everyone already knows that painting was yours. You’ve already received great honor; can’t you just show some mercy and let me off?”
“Shen Yixue, in the past, I thought you were nothing more than a sanctimonious ‘Holy Mother,’ a thorough ‘green tea.’ But—”
Zhong Niangyao’s lips curled into a cold smirk, “I’ve only now realized just how thick your skin is, or perhaps you’re brainless. Otherwise, why would you come to me asking for leniency from the academy?”
“Nianyao, I know you’ve always been hostile towards me because of my situation with Jingming,” Shen Yixue earnestly began, “but now, because of this incident, Jingming and I are on the verge of breaking up. Why can’t you just let me go?”
“Your situation with Li Jingming has nothing to do with me,” Zhong Niangyao chuckled, shaking her head. “Whether you break up or not has even less to do with me. Similarly, whatever punishment the school decides to give you also has nothing to do with me. So, please leave!”
After finishing, she pointed directly towards the door, clearly giving the order to leave.
Watching Zhong Niangyao’s impervious demeanor, Shen Yixue bit her lip and suddenly knelt down, “Nianyao, out of pity, please let me off just this once! I promise, I’ll repay you in the future.”
“Shen Yixue, do you think I look like a fool or a pushover?”
Zhong Niangyao leaned forward, looking down at Shen Yixue, “You’re just a venomous snake, always ready to bite me at any opportunity! We both know the story of ‘The Farmer and the Snake,’ and I certainly don’t want to be that foolish farmer.”
“I won’t—”
Just as Shen Yixue began to speak, she was again silenced by a gesture from Zhong Niangyao, “You don’t need to explain yourself here; I know exactly what kind of person you are. So, regardless of what you say today, I won’t plead with the school on your behalf. Even if you were to kneel to death here, it would be futile.”
Seeing Zhong Niangyao’s resolute attitude filled Shen Yixue with resentment, but she still managed to suppress her inner hatred, forcibly putting on a sincere smile, “Nianyao, I know you have a deep misunderstanding of me. But time will prove everything, and I’ll show you my true heart.”
“As for the school, I still hope you’ll speak on my behalf; this concerns my whole life. However, if you really don’t want to, I won’t hold it against you. I know you’re still angry, so you don’t want to see me. I’ll leave now.”
After speaking, she rose, bowed to Zhong Niangyao, apologized, then turned and left.
Watching Shen Yixue leave, Zhong Niangyao sneered.
She had thought that after such a ruthless rejection, Shen Yixue would simply break off relations, but who knew that she could still maintain such a low profile! Despite being so harsh, Shen Yixue still managed to keep a submissive stance.
However, it also showed that Shen Yixue still hadn’t given up. Zhong Niangyao was genuinely curious about what Shen Yixue would try next to win her over and plead with the school on her behalf.
Shen Yixue’s visit hadn’t caused any waves in Zhong Niangyao’s life; she continued living her simple life.
Days passed, and lately, the hottest topic had been about the sudden suicide of the popular actress Zhao Rongrong.
Before her suicide, she left a note that provided everyone with a new understanding of this so-called youth star, in which she detailed a series of past deeds.
