The Unveiling of Secret Queen-Chapter 1439: Is There Any Gift You Want? Grandpa Will Buy It for You
The other side.
Nathalie Quinlan pulled up the hoodie, walked slowly, and just arrived outside Mr. Zachmann’s hospital room.
The nurse wasn’t seeing her for the first time.
She greeted Nathalie very familiarly: "Ms. Quinlan, you came to see Mr. Zachmann again."
Nathalie was very polite to them, nodding courteously: "Yes."
The nurse smiled and tactfully picked up the tray in her hand, saying to Nathalie: "Then I won’t disturb you, you two talk."
After a few words with Nathalie, she left first.
Nathalie waited until she left before pushing open Mr. Zachmann’s hospital room door.
Mr. Zachmann wore light grey loungewear, with a kind face wearing bifocals, using a magnifying glass to look at a box.
Seeing Nathalie come, he immediately put down the magnifying glass, placed the box down, and kindly greeted her: "Nathalie, come quickly, come in."
Nathalie walked inside.
Mr. Zachmann immediately got up, went to pour her a glass of water, and put the fruit basket on the tea table, constantly telling Nathalie: "Eat some fruit, there’s an orange inside, very sweet."
"I’ll peel a pear for you, wait a moment."
"No, I don’t eat pears."
Nathalie rarely spent time alone with him and was still not quite used to how to interact with elders.
She thought for a moment and called out to the busy elderly man.
Somewhat uneasy, she softly said: "Do you eat oranges? I can peel an orange for you."
Mr. Zachmann turned around, emotions swirling in his eyes.
But he was long past the age of knowing the mandate of heaven, more restrained in character than the young, and quickly suppressed the emotions in his eyes, immediately responding: "Eat!"
"I eat oranges."
Nathalie ’mm-hmmed’ and without saying more, picked a large and brightly colored orange from the fruit basket Mr. Zachmann had brought.
Her slender fingers peeled the orange skin, patiently peeling the orange for Mr. Zachmann.
When she lowered her head, her crow-black eyelashes covered her eyes, her appearance exquisite and alluring.
Mr. Zachmann watched the girl sitting there quietly peeling fruit for him, his heart involuntarily softened, his complexion much better than usual.
He found a place to sit on the sofa opposite Nathalie, the deep marks of time left around his aging eyes, yet filled with tranquility.
"Nathalie, I saw the news, did you get first place?"
Nathalie carefully removed the threads from the orange segments, placed the peeled orange on a nearby fruit plate, appearing very patient. She didn’t raise her head, seemingly not taking the first place to heart: "Mm."
Mr. Zachmann thought she would be very excited about winning first place in a world-class competition, unexpectedly Nathalie was calmer than him, the elderly.
For a moment, he couldn’t quite react.
Yet, his heart was still very happy, his complexion looking extremely rosy and healthy: "Do you have any gift you want, grandpa will buy it for you!"
Nathalie finished peeling half of the orange, first handed the fruit plate to Mr. Zachmann, then continued to peel the other half.
Answering nonchalantly: "... I didn’t really want anything."
Mr. Zachmann seemed a bit disappointed: "You don’t want a bag, a bracelet, or something? I remember you girls like these very much."
Nathalie almost blurted out no.
She raised her eyes, saw the elderly’s disappointed expression, and pursed her lips, retracting her words that were about to come out: "Not for now, if I do, I’ll let you know."
"Okay okay okay." Mr. Zachmann heard her say she would tell him if she wanted anything, and his heart’s gloom disappeared completely.
