the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 994: Can Sanda and Shooting Be Used for the Arts Entrance Exam?
Because of a five-thousand fine, Crystal Landon had been a bit down for a week, until the results of the first mock exam in senior high were out.
"Crystal, the results are out, let’s go take a look. If we’re late, we won’t be able to get in." As soon as the results were released, everyone rushed to check them.
Sophia Winton sneered at the side, "What’s so interesting about Crystal’s scores? It’s always last place or second to last."
Sophia’s grades weren’t great either; she’d been into dressing up and chasing guys ever since she was young, nowhere near interested in studying. The Winton Family, seeing her academic subjects wouldn’t yield any grades, had her apply as an art student. After all, as a socialite in the Imperial City, she should at least have one or two talents to show.
For the past half month, Crystal had almost taken her as invisible, and weirdly enough, despite using all her wits, she hadn’t managed to make Crystal suffer any loss. It was truly bizarre. The only thing she could best Crystal at was academic performance.
"Sophia, if you don’t speak, no one will think you’re mute," Nova Howard said angrily.
"I can say whatever I want, you can’t control me," Sophia sneered.
Seeing the two of them start arguing as soon as they met, Crystal immediately pulled Nova to check the results.
"Why are you arguing with a mad dog that bites everyone it sees?" Crystal sneered when she saw Sophia had followed them.
"Fine, I won’t argue with her then." Nova was delighted to have Crystal on her side, but still worried about Crystal’s grades, she said, "Crystal, why don’t you also take the art exams? Your family must have taught you some talents."
Nova herself had learned two talents, the guzheng and piano, thinking that if Crystal fails again, she’d definitely be ridiculed even more.
Crystal bit her lip. Her talents, like Sanda and shooting, could they be tested?
When she was little, she watched Pearl Landon studying this and that every day and thought it was so tough. She thought she would be like Pearl, but her parents told her she only needed to eat, drink, and play, and didn’t need to work so hard. In her youth, not understanding much, she thought her parents were pampering and spoiling her, but gradually, as she grew up in recent years, she realized this was what they call ’killing with kindness.’
Only her lack of education would highlight Pearl’s talents. The only thing she’d learned was calligraphy with Grandma Xie.
Grandma Xie had copied Buddhist scriptures for years and started teaching her to copy calligraphy books since she was young, saying that practicing calligraphy could best cultivate a person’s disposition and patience.
She learned the Yan style, but she wouldn’t become a calligrapher, and testing for this would only make those women laugh at her.
Seeing her silent, Nova poked her and quietly asked, "Crystal, didn’t your family make you learn anything? And we’ve known each other for months, I’ve never seen your parents."
They’d known each other for several months, and despite visiting the Landon Family many times, she hadn’t seen Crystal’s parents, nor had they ever come to school. Even as slow as she was, she found it rather odd.
Sophia, who had followed along, overheard their conversation and burst into laughter, "Crystal, so you’re truly an uneducated fool, pretty and brainless. Women like you are usually just fit to be someone else’s mistress."
"Crystal knows nothing, and still acts so arrogant every day."
"She knows how to fight, skip class, and go clubbing," Sophia’s close female classmates chimed in mockingly.
"Sophia, did you eat garlic again today? Your mouth stinks," Nova said furiously.
