Chapter 984: Chapter 984: Are There Many Caves Like This in the Southwest Military Zone?

Arriving at the wine estate, Crystal Landon jumped out of the car and saw a crowd of luxurious cars gathered at the entrance of the wine estate. Some noble ladies were smiling and chatting while observing the aristocratic offspring arriving one after another.

"I heard that Richard will be coming this time. I wonder if it’s true?"

"Major General Shaw hasn’t attended a banquet in the Imperial City for several years."

"Pearl Landon and Major General Shaw are classmates, so it’s likely she can invite him."

"That would mean Pearl has quite the influence," said a socialite enviously.

"Has Richard already been promoted to Major General?"

"Absolutely. It’s said he was promoted a while ago, the order has been sent to the military district, but the news hasn’t reached the Imperial City yet. It’s feared he will be stationed here from now on." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

"Wow, that means we’ll often see the handsome Major General."

"Keep dreaming. Shaw family members are low-key, and besides, Major General Shaw already has a fiancée."

The noble ladies were again enviously resentful. That little girl from the Landon Family, emerging from the corner of the Southwest Mountains, had such a bad reputation yet monopolized the best man in the Imperial City.

"He’s here, Major General Shaw is here," a sharp-eyed socialite shouted.

A black modified Hummer stopped at the entrance of the wine estate. The man stepped out in military boots, with defined and deep facial features, strikingly handsome and cold, exuding an aloofness, simply dressed in trousers and a white shirt, effortlessly overshadowing the flamboyant aristocratic heirs.

The crowd was excited, nearly ripping their handbags apart, then saw a light figure in white get out of the passenger seat, with pure and alluring features, instantly causing the faces of the noble ladies to turn sour.

Crystal Landon’s face, even at eighteen, was known to all in the Imperial City—too beautiful, with too tainted a reputation.

Seeing the envious gazes of the women, Crystal Landon reached out and linked arms with Richard Shaw, smiling, "Shall we go inside together?"

Richard Shaw’s deep, sharp eyes casually glanced around, noticing countless men’s gazes glued to Crystal Landon, worried she might be swayed by their sweet talk. He nodded and led her inside.

This wine estate was once an underground wine cellar, renovated to be quite cool and deep, with walls of smooth stones shaped by time. The path was adorned with countless star lights, making the estate exceptionally bright.

The people of the Imperial City loved novelty. Seeing Pearl Landon find such a unique venue for a charity auction, they all praised her.

Curious, Crystal Landon reached out to touch the stone wall, asking Richard Shaw beside her, "Are there many caves like this in the Southwest Military Zone?"

The man nodded faintly; the Southwest Mountains had many, naturally resulting in numerous caves, though their structure was different. Most of those are naturally eroded caves, while this wine estate in the Imperial City was dug out as a wine cellar and then transformed into a loft-style wine estate, nothing particularly unusual.

As soon as Richard Shaw entered, the crowd gathered at the entrance followed him in to greet him.

The man merely nodded and smiled, occasionally exchanging a few words, but not speaking much. However, Crystal Landon watched him surrounded by people who seemed blind, ignoring her, and suddenly felt bored, seizing the opportunity to find some wine to drink.

All the red wine this time was offered for free tasting, and Crystal Landon sneered slightly. Her parents were indeed generous, spending lavishly for Pearl Landon’s charity auction.

The Landon Family’s business wasn’t as good as rumored. Her father wasn’t skilled in business, and her mother lacked social skills, merely maintaining a facade of prosperity over the years. There was even a time when buying too many things made her parents’ expressions unsightly.
