the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 982: Taken Advantage Of By an Eighteen-Year-Old Girl
Richard Shaw felt as though he’d been taken advantage of by an eighteen-year-old girl who wasn’t even an adult yet, his handsome face instantly darkening as he asked, "What are you doing here?"
"The charity auction is tomorrow, I’ve come to borrow some stuff from you. Do you have anything unused that you can contribute?" Crystal Landon swiftly entered the room, surveying his extraordinarily clean and tidy room, noticing how his blankets were neatly folded and everything placed perfectly in order, her eyes widened in awe.
The man’s room wasn’t crowded with things; the decor was all about models of aircraft carriers, it was clearly a straightforward man’s room.
Crystal Landon glanced around but didn’t find anything suitable, then saw Richard Shaw lifting her like a cat over to the sofa and asking, "Haven’t you accumulated anything presentable all these years in the Landon Family?"
Although she was young, the Landon Family wasn’t some ordinary household. Apart from the monthly allowance, surely they must give out some valuable items, right?
Crystal Landon reached out, her peach blossom eyes narrowing into a smile, "A hundred bucks per question."
Richard Shaw flicked her forehead with a finger, sneering coldly, "Say that again."
She immediately restrained herself, rubbing her forehead where she’d been hit, snorting, "Fine, forget the money. I get fifty thousand a month in allowance, but clothes, shoes, and bags have to stay under thirty thousand, which can be expensed, and that’s all. Holiday red envelopes are another source of income, but I can’t just throw money around. Anyway, I’m practically broke, it’s all been spent frivolously."
She decided to seal up her private stash of cash, firmly denying her wealth.
Richard Shaw slightly squinted his eyes, his eyebrows furrowed, contemplating the notorious reputation she’d gained over the past few years. During this week with Crystal Landon, he saw she wasn’t inherently bad, her values were quite intact, just burdened with many bad habits. A girl like her, born with such beauty, anyone would teach her well. Yet the Landon Family seemed to let her be. She wasn’t even particularly close to Pearl Landon.
Richard Shaw thought for a moment, then got up and said to her, "Follow me."
He escorted her to his collection room, a large space filled with a variety of items, each marked with their time and place of origin.
Crystal Landon looked somewhat dumbfounded, always believing he was poor, only the old lady had money. She didn’t expect him to have his own private stash.
"Pick something valuable yourself," Richard Shaw leaned against the door frame, speaking casually.
She moved in closer, noticing gifts retained from his birth till now, some not particularly valuable, while others were exceedingly precious — antique paintings, wooden and jade sculptures, even the whips from his childhood were there, causing her to let out a laugh.
She reached out and picked up a wooden sculpture, depicting a graceful maiden, appearing pure and cute, her large eyes smiling in crescents.
Richard Shaw noticed she hadn’t picked anything else, only the wooden sculpture, and his tall frame tensed as he solemnly said, "Not this one, pick something else." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"Did you carve this?" Crystal Landon asked gleefully, quite fond of the wooden sculpture.
The man nodded.
"Then make me one, and I’ll take it to the charity auction tomorrow." She returned the sculpture to its place, grinning as she spoke.
Richard Shaw observed her expression and nodded.
The following afternoon, Richard Shaw came over holding a pair of freshly carved little fairy children, both adorable and charming, holding characters for prosperity and wealth, lifelike in their detail and festive.
