the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 977: Unreliable Teammate
Hawk Howard’s office was private, without stacks of assignments or various teaching tools. It was clean and tidy, with the man in a white shirt giving off an elite vibe, typing swiftly on his laptop. Upon seeing the two of them arrive, he said blandly, "Take the food out, it’s still hot, set the table."
Hawk Howard brought a large amount of food, wrapped in foil, with four or five dishes and freshly squeezed green juice.
"Caspian, did you make this yourself?" Nova Howard asked excitedly.
"Yes," Hawk replied blandly, "You guys eat first; I’ll finish what I’m working on."
Crystal Landon saw that his computer screen was full of complicated English data, so she quickly nudged Nova and asked, "What does your brother do?"
Nova was stumped. She wasn’t very familiar with this brother. Hawk only returned to the Imperial City last year, having lived in the United States before that. Since coming back, she hardly saw him once a month, so how would she know what Hawk did? After all, he wasn’t her biological brother.
"I’m a bioengineer; that’s my main job. Teaching English is just to pass the time," the man said blandly.
Crystal quickly searched on her browser what a bioengineer was, then dejectedly put down her phone, thinking she’d never reach that level in this lifetime.
"Caspian, why is the food you made so delicious?" Nova focused entirely on eating, took a bite of the dish, and almost bit her tongue off, marveling, "Isn’t the U.S. all about burgers and fries? Why do you know how to cook Chinese food?"
"I learned after coming back," Hawk swiftly finished the last bit of data, then closed his laptop with a smile and came over to eat.
Hawk sat next to Crystal, noticing her dejected demeanor, her small, delicate face looking pure and charming. Being close, he could faintly smell the fragrance of her hair and smiled, "Hurry and eat."
"Oh," Crystal picked up her chopsticks, took a bite, and instantly opened her eyes wide, looking at Hawk. Her pretty eyes turned into crescent moons as she smiled and asked, "Mr. Howard, will you bring food every day in the future?"
"Want some free food?" Hawk didn’t even look up and asked leisurely.
"There’s an English practice exam tomorrow. Get eighty points, and I’ll bring you meals for a week."
"Eighty is enough? Caspian, that’s pretty easy." Nova’s English was decent; she just didn’t do well in the college entrance exam, and since she didn’t want to attend a second-rate college, she decided to repeat a year.
Crystal glared at her dense partner, kicking her hard; that’s how a pig dies of stupidity.
Eighty points might be easy for Nova, but for her, it was a bit challenging. Luckily, Richard Shaw had been watching over her coursework these days. If she did more practice exams at home tonight, maybe she could guess her way to eighty.
Given Nova’s presence, Crystal didn’t want to reveal Hawk’s background and pretended they didn’t know each other.
Hawk didn’t bother hiding anything, interacting with her as old friends would. Anyone else could see through it, but Nova didn’t notice at all. Her brother knew her best friend. Of course, she had self-proclaimed this best friend status.
The entire focus of Class 5 in Grade 12 was on the new English teacher. As school ended, Crystal picked up her backpack and was ready to leave.
"Crystal, Caspian said he could give us a ride home on his way. Are you coming with us?" Nova said excitedly.
"No, I’m exhausted," Crystal said, looking weary, "We’re not going the same way anyway, and besides, doesn’t your family driver pick you up every day? What’s the difference?"
Oh right, then why would she still need to take Hawk’s car? Nova scratched her head.
