SEXY MECH SYSTEM-Chapter 42: High Stakes
The noon streets were busy as ever, bustling with citizens who went on with their day-to-day businesses.
On one of these streets, a young man who occasionally got the attention of ladies moved with purpose. His face wasn’t hardened, wasn’t scrunched, just blank.
You couldn’t tell what he was thinking. You couldn’t guess where he was going. He just moved graciously, like he didn’t care about the world or what was happening around him.
But frankly, he was rationalizing, formulating ideas and picturing possibilities.
Only he knew what he was up to.
He suddenly halted his steps on a bus-stop, waiting patiently for the next arrival.
He glanced at the digital box attached to the pole rigidly fixated into the ground, noting the information displayed there.
→ Estimated time before next arrival: 7 minutes.
He patiently stood, not bothering to take a seat behind him. He had pressing issues.
Where the rich ones would have easily called for a Neocab, the autopilot flying car, he had to wait because he didn’t have enough to squander on luxurious and one of the fastest transportation.
He wasn’t part of the privileged, he wasn’t rich, he hardly had enough to sustain him for three weeks, so he couldn’t complain.
However, that was about to change soon.
The bus arrived exactly at the estimated time and the figure boarded without ceremony, tapping his bronze card on the designated payment system.
After settling in the vehicle, he finally had proper time to check the notifications that constantly rang in his head since Sherry’s.
He summoned the system’s interface conveniently, watching those delighting messages flash before his eyes.

Syril grinned like a freak upon checking details, excited to know the new addition will be very useful in the coming days.
However, his excitement was short-lived the moment the bus’s PAS (Public Addressing System) announced the next stop.
A deep scowl suddenly emerged on his face, testifying to the storm brewing internally.
’Back to the business of the day.’
In no time, he arrived at his destination and alighted gently, just the way he had boarded.
The details of the surroundings etched like a scar in his brain. He could never forget. The memory was too vital.
He only walked a few meters before the edifice he sought came into sight.
There, across the road, a villa stood magnificently, white and grandiose with expensive decors and appliances. The environment also wasn’t mediocre by any means, many villas and even mansions stood beautifully, some with guards, others with mechanical security systems, and some combining both for over-the-top security.
It was a neighborhood for those above average, and Syril was there to visit one in particular.
His face contorted at first sight of the luxury, then relaxed and stretched into a smile.
But that smile... It was devoid of warmth. It was a cold one, predatory even, the kind that makes chills run down spines.
He crossed to the other side calmly, steps measured, nothing alarming. He didn’t want to trigger any security defenses.
By the entrance of the building of interest, a gigantic, defensive, black gate stood, and by its side, attached to the wall and in reinforced boxes were premium CCTVs, watching his every movement.
He knew the security system would have announced his presence to the owner inside, so he moved closer and casually waved.
"Hi, Finn Sholman and Spencer Freiburg. It’s the boy from the store. Remember me?"

Meanwhile, in a popular skyscraper situated at the edge of the town, almost disconnected from the city, two adults were engaged in a heated conversation at the very top of the building, in a room that seemed too vast for an office, highly protected even, as if diamonds or other valuables were hidden there.
"Jack... You finally decided to show up," an old man said, drifting his head downward as he adjusted his spectacles.
On a heavy, obsidian, sheen, metallic table sitting at a corner in the grand room, a lustrous digital name plate rested, displaying the words: ’Magnus Houston. Chairperson.’
"You’ve been expecting me, I know. I just..." Jack Vancouver broke into a sigh, rubbing his temples as a headache creeped in.
"Look at you. You look pathetic. This is part of the reason we proposed that, isn’t it?" Magnus, the old man with specs, said, staring at a file in his hands as he spoke.
"I know... I know. That girl is..."
"A trouble?" Magnus completed, still having his gaze primarily focused on the document in his hand.
"She’s your daughter and you should know what to do. Have you seen the analytics?" This time, he raised his head to look at the poor man who seemed like an undead.
"Yes..." Jack’s voice hitched as a memory flashed in his head, his face gradually losing color. "I’ve seen it. Bad... Really bad."
"And they’re relentless. They’re not letting up," Magnus added.
Jack’s face scrunched, contorting into something alarming. "Those bastards..." He grumbled lowly despite himself.
"You know, my favorite nephew is mad, really mad. He probably doesn’t want to see your daughter right now, but the offer is still up." He finally dropped the document, approaching the Vancouver patriarch with slow steps.
"Ah! Thanks, Magnus. Thanks... I don’t even know the right words to use. I..." Jack stammered in appreciation, his face lit with renewed hope.
"Oh, don’t thank me yet. You already know how bad the situation is. Amy and Oliver are now in Greenville. The window isn’t closed, but external pressure is present. Get her to engage him, and in that period, we can make a move. When they finally unite under papers and legality, you have our full support."
With unyielding determination, Jack affirmed. "I’ll ensure that."
"Oh, I also got to know that pesky thing got into Greenville. For a nobody, that’s quite a stunt to pull," Magnus stretched on a sofa now, sitting relaxingly as he recalled what sources said. "Although I’m unbothered and only got to know from interesting sources, you do understand the implication with your adamant daughter, right?"
Jack responded hastily, assuring himself and the magnate that the issue was trivial. "Oh, I know. That is no obstacle at all. Matter of fact, Amy has nothing to do with him, and the boy..."
"The boy will be handled."
