the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 947: Are They Here to Poach Her?
Aunt Wu’s heart was pounding harder and harder, almost suspecting she had come to the wrong place. How could it resemble the layout of a palace drama so much? The grandmother’s house across the street used to be very poor. Delphine could wear the same piece of clothing for a year, patching it up when it wore out, reluctant to throw it away even when it became an inner layer.
Delphine was in the adjacent room, selecting flower trees to be transplanted. Ignatius Leclair had specially given her some pictures to choose from, all premium flower trees. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"I want this pine tree, the shape is really beautiful. Placing it in the courtyard, as soon as you open the window, you can see it." Delphine immediately took a liking to the pine tree shaped like a beauty. The key was, perhaps by getting closer, she could smell the pine’s fragrance, a scent she often detected on Ignatius Leclair.
Ignatius Leclair nodded, his voice deep: "The shape is acceptable. Plant it against the wall, as if growing on it; it will look even better."
Delphine selected a few more beautiful varieties and then seemed to hear Aunt Wu’s call.
"I’ll go take a look; you can choose the rest." Delphine dropped his phone and went out, just in time to see Aunt Wu coming over with a basket.
Aunt Wu almost didn’t recognize Delphine when she came out. Seeing her appearance now, more outstanding than four years ago and more beautiful than television stars, Aunt Wu was momentarily stunned before she said with a smile, "Delphine, Auntie brought you some dinner vegetables. You just got back, and at this hour, you can’t buy anything at the market."
In the small town, people usually buy vegetables in the morning. By afternoon, the vegetable vendors have gone home.
Seeing her enthusiasm, Delphine quickly smiled, "Aunt Wu, we have vegetables at home. You’re too kind."
"Why be polite with Auntie? We’re neighbors, after all. When your grandmother was around, our families were close." Aunt Wu wanted to put the basket on the small couch but, seeing how exquisitely made it was, there was simply no place for her basket, so she placed it on the ground. Then, taking Delphine’s hand, she laughed and asked, "Are you planning to stay longer this time?"
Delphine wasn’t sure. She wanted to come back and take Ignatius Leclair to pay respects to her grandmother, telling the elderly lady that she’s found someone she likes so her grandmother can rest assured. Only on this return did she realize how impossibly picky Ignatius was at his core.
In just a week, he had Maximilian come and transform the entire house, replacing almost all the settings. The more rustic and unassuming something looked, the more valuable it actually was.
If she only stayed a few days, it would be too wasteful.
"I might stay for a while longer," Delphine smiled.
"That’s wonderful. I’ve seen people going in and out the past few days. If there’s anything you need, just tell Auntie. You just got back, and if you need to arrange anything, Auntie will take you." Aunt Wu said, a bit uneasy about how quickly this place had been transformed.
"Thank you, Aunt Wu." Delphine continued to smile.
"Our Gregory Walker will be coming back these days too. Last time he was back, he was still talking about you. Come by for a meal when you have time," Aunt Wu said meaningfully.
The man inside, selecting flower trees, listened to this, seemingly catching a hint of something. He stood up and walked out of the room, speaking in a low voice, "Delphine, I’ve picked out a set of teaware. Do you prefer jade or purple clay material?"
His voice was steady and measured, and his tall, handsome figure, with striking features as if carved by a knife, exuded a gentle elegance despite his commanding presence.
