the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 929: I Just Want to Hold You
Ignatius Leclair’s examination report came out the next day, and Delphine received a call from Arthur White early in the morning. Worried that it wouldn’t be clear over the phone, Arthur brought along Ji An early in the morning.
Ji An held a thick stack of analysis reports and said seriously, "The boss needs to have surgery as soon as possible, otherwise the headache will be unbearable."
Arthur explained from the side, "Yesterday, several experts held a consultation on Ignatius’s brain condition. They argued fiercely, and the final conclusion was that surgery should be done as soon as possible. Blindness is just an initial symptom; as the migraine worsens, the headache will become excruciating, leading to dementia in mild cases, or death in severe ones."
"It will be unbearably painful," Ji An added from the side.
Delphine looked at Ji An, her heart trembling slightly. She had seen Ignatius’s symptoms when he had a headache and couldn’t help but ask softly, "Are you confident about the surgery?"
Ji An blinked and nodded, saying, "Seventy percent. The animals I’ve treated are all doing well."
Just as Ji An finished speaking, Arthur hit his head.
"Second brother, why did you hit me?"
Delphine felt a bit overwhelmed. She knew she should trust Ji An, as he had been researching how to treat Ignatius’s brain condition for a long time.
"You all should head back first. I’ll talk to him about this." Delphine asked them to leave first and then went upstairs.
The man was already awake and had changed his clothes when he heard Delphine come in. She hugged him from behind.
These days, she had become a bit clingy to him, which the man thoroughly enjoyed. He reached out to hold her small hand and smiled, "What’s wrong, hmm?"
Delphine rested her head against his broad back and said in a low voice, "I just want to hold you."
She felt like crying. Since she was fifteen, this man had become the most important presence in her life. She was just afraid of losing him.
Ignatius knew what she was worried about and afraid of, but this situation had been happening since he was young. He could only face it calmly, unable to give her any promises, because even he didn’t know if he could keep them.
"I won’t go out today. I’ll stay with you, okay?" Ignatius turned around, held her in his arms, and said gently, their foreheads touching.
Delphine nodded. She didn’t want to go out either, just wanted to stay home with him.
For three whole days, the two of them stayed at home and went nowhere. Perhaps knowing they wanted to spend time together, Arthur rarely disturbed them in those three days.
On the fourth day, Ignatius went into surgery. As he left, he deliberately sent her off to buy breakfast. When she came back, she looked at the empty house and suddenly sat at the door, tears streaming down.
As she cried, she also let out a low laugh. It was probably better this way, leaving so cleanly and decisively, so she wouldn’t cry painfully and Ignatius couldn’t calmly fight the illness.
At noon, Arthur came by, seeing her sitting in front of the house, talking to the guide dog, looking delicate and lonely. He couldn’t help but sigh softly.
Arthur crossed the fence, walked over, and said in a low voice, "Miss Delphine, Ignatius said that today you probably wouldn’t remember to eat, so he asked me to bring you some soup and water-based foods."
Delphine looked up and saw it was him. Seeing the food he brought, she nodded and said hoarsely, "Put it on the table. I’ll eat when I’m hungry."
Delphine paused and asked, "Did he leave any message for me when he left?"
Arthur saw her eyes were swollen and red, and said softly, "Ignatius didn’t say anything."
The man left decisively, without looking back or showing a hint of hesitation.
