Chapter 1039: Chapter 1039: After a Year Apart, She’s More Beautiful Than Ever

Crystal Landon borrowed the faint daylight, looking at his rugged face half-shrouded in dark shadows, and was suddenly thrilled. She softly and joyfully exclaimed, "Richard Shaw, how are you here?"

Richard Shaw found it inconceivable that she was addressing him directly by name and thought his appearance seemed almost unbelievable. Considering her audacity in coming here, following a bunch of clueless teachers and students to collect specimens in the wild, his face suddenly turned stern as he solemnly said, "We’ll settle the score when we get back; first, wake everyone up so we can leave here quickly."

They were already very close to the Massa military’s position, luckily they remained vigilant and did not cause any disturbance.

Crystal was also aware that this wasn’t the time for delay, she hurried to wake up Catherine Webb and Teacher Du, along with the others.

Mr. Du and the three students were groggily woken up, hearing that rescue was at hand, they were nearly moved to tears. Upon stepping out and seeing only two tall and imposing men, noticing they looked quite fierce, they dared not ask anything, hurriedly packed up their tents, and followed behind the two men.

Who knows how many roads they traversed, how many stumbles they took, how much they suffered, seeing the man leading them forward in silence all the way, and Crystal the woman keeping up, they gritted their teeth and kept up.

Bit by bit the daylight brightened, after walking several hours through the night, Richard Shaw looked at the location, finally stopped and spoke in a low voice, "We’re safe, rest for a while, the helicopter will come to take you to the nearest provincial city."

The man turned around, Teacher Du and the other three students finally got a clear look at his extraordinary handsome and cool face, dressed in a green T-shirt and pants, hiking shoes, clearly the simplest attire, yet his whole being exuded a chilling, profound aura, leaving them momentarily dazed.

"Are we rescued?"

"The helicopter, I hear the sound of the helicopter blades."

Only then did they break into tears, the emotions suppressed for a day and night completely collapsed at the moment of rescue. Teacher Du also stared dumbfounded at the helicopter emerging in a spin,

dazedly bursting into laughter.

Only Crystal looked at the deep mountain they emerged from, knowing clearly she should leave without looking back, yet for some reason, she felt a sense of melancholy as if there was something extremely important to her there.

"What are you looking at?" Richard Shaw noticed she was still gazing in the direction they came from, and said sternly, "I’ll arrange a plane to send you back to Imperial City tomorrow. Don’t ever venture into the wild for a survey again."

The man’s voice carried a stern, admonishing tone, and standing beside Crystal, Catherine Webb instantly felt overwhelmed by his presence, quietly stepping back a bit.

"Then you take me back." The initial joy of seeing him again faded gradually for Crystal, thinking of how Richard Shaw had seemingly never called her even once over the past year. The two were like strangers, and she suddenly clung to his arm, raising her chin to say, "If you don’t take me back, I’m not leaving."

Richard Shaw saw her after a day and night of ordeal, her face a bit pale, yet her beauty was inescapable, the previously vague countenance became incredibly clear in an instant. A year since they last met, she was becoming more appealing, considering he too hadn’t returned for a considerable time. This time she narrowly encountered danger, his heart softened as he nodded.

Everyone boarded the helicopter, flying directly to the local provincial city.
