The Trending Topic Herself: The Villainess is the Superstar!-Chapter 38: Memorizing Lines Is as Easy as Drinking Water
At noon, Eric Rowe directly invited the executive chef of The Grand Feast to the set to take care of the crew’s meals. You must know that The Grand Feast is a top-notch restaurant famous in Kyston, with extremely high average spending. It attracts a constant stream of people every day. Inviting The Grand Feast’s chef to the set isn’t a simple act of "wealth".
There’s nothing that a good meal can’t resolve. The entire crew’s fondness for Eric Rowe soared.
No one turns down a free meal, and Maya Monroe not only ate but thoroughly enjoyed it.
Madeline Underwood seized the opportunity to strike up a conversation with Eric Rowe.
"I really appreciate you taking care of this meal today."
Eric Rowe laughed heartily and said nonchalantly, "No problem, as long as everyone enjoys it."
"Is this your first time acting? I noticed your performance just now; your acting doesn’t seem like that of a newcomer. You have real talent!"
Madeline Underwood’s words were pleasant, but Eric Rowe felt a sense of vigilance rising in his heart. He was just playing a minor role; what skills could attract a big name to notice his filming process?
Growing up, Eric Rowe was always admired, so when others showed excessive enthusiasm towards him, he instinctively questioned their intentions. Raised with a silver spoon, he had limited understanding of the complex entertainment circle, but this didn’t mean he was naïve.
Eric Rowe’s smile faded slightly, "It’s my honor to have your approval."
"Actually, I know a director who has a role that’s quite suitable for you. Aren’t you looking to hone your acting skills?"
This was too obvious.
Eric Rowe frowned slightly, "No need to trouble yourself with connections, but thank you."
After speaking, Eric Rowe turned and walked away.
Madeline Underwood stood where she was, watching Eric Rowe’s departing figure, wondering if she had been too eager, or perhaps her approach was wrong.
Eric Rowe hadn’t walked far before he was surrounded again by people.
"Your performance just now was amazing, especially that sword-swinging move—truly impressive! Have you ever studied martial arts before?"
"Thank you for footing the bill this time. How about we exchange contacts, and next time it’s on me!"
"Since you’re new here, do you want me to show you around and help you get familiar with the place?"
...
Eric Rowe’s head was buzzing; under normal circumstances, he would have chased them away long ago. But since he was new to the set, he couldn’t avoid interacting with the staff in the future, so he couldn’t afford to offend anybody.
His assistant helped him navigate the crowd, and Eric Rowe seized the chance to escape to Maya Monroe’s side.
He felt like everyone around him had an ulterior motive, except Maya Monroe, who was the only person he could trust on set.
Eric Rowe often talked about venturing outside and striving, but he had never truly experienced life’s hardships. In a new environment, he would instinctively seek out the person he was most familiar with.
After finishing her meal, Maya Monroe had just lifted her head when she saw Eric Rowe walking her way. She took out a tissue to wipe her mouth and said, "Eric, have a seat."
"Sis... Sister Maya, is there anything else you want to eat? I can arrange for someone to prepare it."
Feeling quite content after her meal, Maya Monroe laughed lightly, "No need, Eric, I’m full already. Delicious food is for delighting the mind and body, but once you overeat, it’s no longer a joyful thing."
She was just speaking casually, but Eric Rowe nodded seriously, pondering for a moment.
"How does it feel shooting your first film?"
Talking about filming, Eric Rowe’s eyes sparkled, "I find it interesting, though the lines are a bit hard to memorize."
Maya Monroe nodded as if she understood, though she couldn’t really fathom Eric Rowe’s troubles. Memorizing lines was as simple as drinking water, wasn’t it?
"I feel really good about myself, but I wonder how the audience will react once it’s broadcast. Will they like me? What if I get backlash?"
Maya Monroe had plenty to say about receiving backlash, "Honestly, the more you’re criticized, the more you get used to it. It’s not like you’ll lose a piece of yourself."
She noticed Eric Rowe’s sudden dip in mood but didn’t plan on comforting him.
To her, Eric Rowe was just worrying unnecessarily. As the male lead in a romantic tale, how could he possibly attract criticism or fail?
Eric Rowe, naturally cheerful, simply lamented for a moment before bouncing back to his usual energetic self.
"Sister Maya, I’m really grateful you persuaded my brother. Because of my decision to enter the entertainment industry, Grandma hasn’t spoken to my brother in ages. My brother usually fulfills Grandma’s every wish, and I’ve never seen them disagree before!"
Maya Monroe nodded in understanding, though she doubted her role was decisive. Since the plot destined Eric Rowe to enter the industry, her words were merely a catalyst.
Eric Rowe didn’t know what Maya Monroe was thinking. His eyes brightened with trust as he looked at her.
In his perspective, Maya Monroe was thoughtful, gentle, and had helped him tremendously—she was practically a goddess.
Suddenly, Maya Monroe noticed a gaze directed at her. Looking over, she saw Kiki Monroe watching her with an uncertain expression.
With Eric Rowe joining the crew, the sweet and captivating love story between him and Kiki Monroe was about to begin.
Comforted internally, Maya Monroe nodded and nudged Eric Rowe, "The view over by the pavilion is great. Do you want to take a look?"
Eric Rowe followed her gaze towards the pavilion used for filming. One look and he happened to see Kiki Monroe, quickly averting his eyes.
His voice carried a hint of annoyance, "I don’t want to go there; I’d rather stay here for a bit. I have to leave soon for an endorsement obligation."
Maya Monroe couldn’t keep track of the male and female lead’s relationship continuously, so she chalked up Eric Rowe’s current attitude to "lovable enemies".
Eric Rowe had mentioned a director earlier. For a newbie like him, landing endorsements wasn’t easy; it was probably The Rowe Family backing him.
"Well, work hard then."
Eric Rowe nodded quickly.

Madeline Underwood emerged in a bathrobe after a shower, the steaming heat giving her a sexy blush.
Jacob Miller eagerly embraced her, "You’ve been so busy with work lately, I’ve missed you terribly after not seeing you for so long!"
Jacob Miller was Madeline Underwood’s boyfriend, high up in Valerius Entertainment.
After a tender moment together, Madeline Underwood raised her head and asked, "Is that Eric Rowe really connected to The Rowe Family? Didn’t you say he was rather naïve? Why do I find him so difficult to interact with!"
Just thinking of how Eric Rowe snubbed her brought a hint of discontent to Madeline Underwood’s heart.
