Chapter 37: Chapter 37: The Crown Prince

Ethan Grant slightly opened his mouth, his lips moved, but he couldn’t utter a word of rebuttal.

Because every word Maya Monroe said made sense and wasn’t much different from what he had just heard.

Yet he always felt something was amiss. He had easily been led astray by Maya and now couldn’t say a single word in opposition.

"Do you have to be so serious when acting? Look at how you’ve scared Kiki. Can’t you be a little gentler? She’s your sister, shouldn’t you give in to her a bit..."

"Shut up!" Maya said impatiently, "Next time I hear you say such disgusting things, I’ll have someone throw you out!"

"What, you think having money makes you great?" In Ethan’s view, Maya was just relying on her family’s wealth to cause trouble in the entertainment industry. Without such a good background, she would have been kicked out of the crew long ago. How could she look down on others!

"Having money indeed makes me great," Maya sneered, "If you have the ability, kick me out of the group. Otherwise, don’t blame me for having someone carry you out next time you provoke me!"

Maya no longer cared about Ethan’s expression and walked towards the direction of the resting tent.

She glanced in Kiki Monroe’s direction, seeing her being comforted by her assistant, helping her adjust her state.

Maya pondered over what Ethan said. She had only been thinking about increasing resentment value, and the next part should be Kiki’s face-slapping scene. Ethan said her expression was too fierce, causing Kiki not to perform well. If Kiki doesn’t perform well, how will she face slap?

Maya took a sip of juice, continuously thinking about how she should restrain her aggressive aura later to let Kiki perform better.

Maya’s observant nature was keen. She clearly felt Kiki’s disdain towards her earlier, yet now, Kiki didn’t even dare to look at her.

After Shane Morgan called action, Maya kept reminding herself to restrain her emotions.

This scene went through, unexpectedly it was still marked NG.

Shane Morgan gave Kiki a few comments.

Kiki’s eyes turned red, and Maya was pondering on how to let Kiki shine. Perhaps it’s not about shining, but the protagonist, as the child of fate, shouldn’t be consistently criticized.

Maya felt she had already toned down her oppressive aura, but apparently, it still wasn’t enough; she’d have to hold back even more...

After NG’ing twice more, Kiki finally completed her scenes.

Shane Morgan’s previously stern expression relaxed, and a crowd gathered around Kiki to praise her.

Maya also let out a small sigh of relief at the same time.

Being the antagonist surprisingly requires constant guessing of the protagonist’s psychology and status, truly making it increasingly hard to be an antagonist.

Maya suddenly recalled the colleagues she’d met in the protagonists’ group; things were so much easier for them. They could succeed just by doing a little something. No matter how big the difficulty, it was all a good upgrade potion for the protagonist.

"Scott, get a drink with ice!"

Scott looked at her in disbelief, "Maya, why are you drinking a cold drink in this freezing weather? A thermos cup with wolfberry tea is the way to maintain health. Even if you don’t like wolfberry, at least let’s have a hot drink!"

"Go quickly, I’m feeling a bit warm."

Only then did Maya notice a sticky layer of sweat on her body.

Maya sat on the chair waiting for Scott, secretly relieved that Kiki wasn’t in sight.

Kiki usually liked to stick around her with nothing to do, and putting aside the noise, how can a qualified antagonist be friendly and sisterly with the protagonist?

Since Kiki had already developed dislike towards her, if she just made a few more petty moves and constantly opposed the protagonist group, it wouldn’t be long before she could reach a tragic ending. Once the narrative excitement was met, she’d be resurrected and could go wherever she wanted. Hopefully, to someplace suitable for living, with a slower pace of life.

The past few days of filming had been hectic, and Maya stayed with the crew the whole time.

She had long grown tired of this monotonous filming life, but she couldn’t leave because breaking character would also lead to mission failure.

"Have you heard? A newcomer with funding has recently joined the group!"

"Funded to join? Isn’t Director Morgan the one who despises such things?"

"The newcomer came to play an insignificant role, I heard it’s for self-improvement. For just a minor role, Director Morgan wouldn’t bother much. And you can tell from Maya joining the crew, Director Morgan’s baseline has really lowered! Moreover, this newcomer is quite a big deal..."

"A big deal..."

Maya roughly pieced together their conversation and came up with a theory.

A newcomer with funding, who is a big deal; it should be Eric Rowe.

But these were just Maya’s speculations, as Eric entering the entertainment circle shouldn’t happen this quickly according to the plot.

"Sister-in-law!"

A familiar voice came, and Maya turned to see Eric Rowe. He was already styled, with his hair tied back, no longer covered by bangs, revealing his handsome and refreshing features. There was an air of youth yet undispersed between his brows, somewhat similar in appearance to Ian Rowe, though with a completely different aura.

Eric was like a blazing sun, while Ian resembled a smooth, cold jade.

Maya feigned surprise, "Oh, Eric, why are you here and dressed like this, could it be..."

Eric walked over and sat beside Maya, his smile more genuine than before, "This is all thanks to you, sister-in-law!"

"Thanks to me...?"

"Yeah, yeah, I couldn’t get through to my stubborn brother, but sister-in-law, you solved it in just a few words!" Eric gave a thumbs-up, "You’re amazing, sister-in-law, my brother is completely under your thumb!"

Maya’s smile was somewhat absent-minded, as she glanced around at the occasional passersby, she said to Eric, "It’s better not to call me sister-in-law in the crew..."

Eric immediately covered his mouth, "Oh, my memory, I forgot you two are secretly married! Then... sister Maya, thank you."

Maya chuckled, "I’m happy you could join the crew."

Madeline Underwood silently observed Maya and Eric chatting happily from afar, wondering when Maya had gotten involved with such a character.

The outsiders only knew Eric’s extraordinary background but not the specifics.

Madeline had learned from her boyfriend, a higher-up at Valerius Entertainment, that Eric’s background was nothing short of extraordinary; he was the young master of The Rowe Family in Kyston, and the younger brother of Ian Rowe, the authority at the headquarters of Valerius Group. In other words, he was a bona fide prince!
