The Strongest Onmyoji and the Shikigami With AI are Unparalleled in Another World ~ A Second Life Properly Enjoyed Using Artificial Intelligence ~-Chapter 115 - The Value of a Map
Alice and I were fishing, and our catch was better than usual. By midday, we started a campfire, cooked the fish we caught, and had a meal. In the afternoon, we continued on fishing.
Lily and Natalia were busy taking down Big Crabs and sahagins—those mermen things—with magic and arrows, and collecting magic stones from them.
Annie was wandering around with Koma-chan, gathering ingredients for some kind of medicine, though I wasn’t sure exactly what it was. AI-chan stayed nearby, drawing the map.
As we leisurely passed the time, Lily once again took down a Big Crab emerging from the sea. Annie then approached us.
“Isn’t it about time to call it a day?”
I looked at the sun and noticed it was about to set, with evening approaching.
“You’re right. Let’s wrap it up.”
“…Yeah,” Alice nodded and lifted her fishing rod. I did the same, and Annie headed over to Lily and Natalia. She soon returned with the two of them.
“Lily, how many did you take down?”
“Fourteen! Alright! Let’s give it our best again tomorrow!”
If we keep this up for a few more days, we should make a decent amount.
“Got it. Then let’s head back for today.”
“Okay!”
We decided to head back and retraced our steps. Once we returned to the capital, we made our way to the guild.
Entering the guild, we noticed that unlike in the morning, there were many people lined up at the reception.
“It’s so crowded,” Annie said, looking displeased at the adventurers waiting in line.
“This is what I hate.”
“…It feels like we could get crushed.”
As we were observing the reception area, Kenneth approached us again.
“Welcome back. How did it go?”
“Not bad.”
“I see. Please, come this way. The guilmas would like to have a word with you.”
“A talk?”
I wonder what it’s about.
“Got it.”
We followed Kenneth and entered a room in the back. As soon as we walked in, Leanne, who was sitting on a sofa, noticed us and quickly ran her fingers through her hair to tidy it up.
“Nothing has changed, you know,” Kenneth said with a sigh, which made Leanne angry.
“Be quiet!”
“I’ve brought them here, guilmas, but please wait a moment. I’ll handle the payment first.”
“Ah, it’s a busy time right now. That’s fine.”
“Please, have a seat.”
Kenneth gestured for us to sit on the sofa, and then he took a seat on the opposite one. We sat down in a row, with Leanne and Kenneth sitting across from us.
“Now, let’s see your results.”
“Alright. Lily.”
“Yeah, here you go.”
Lily nodded and placed the magic stones on the table.
“Hmm…”
Kenneth picked up each magic stone one by one, inspecting them carefully. Meanwhile, Leanne narrowed her eyes and stared intently at Natalia and the others, making them, especially Natalia, visibly uncomfortable.
“Leanne, thanks for yesterday.”
To break the awkwardness caused by Leanne’s intense gaze, I decided to strike up a conversation.
“Oh, no, thank you. I really enjoyed it,” Leanne said, smiling as she looked at me and bowed her head slightly.
“Guilmas, the quality of these magic stones is excellent. What would you like to do with them?”
Kenneth asked, glancing to the side.
“In that case, just calculate it normally.”
“That would be 7 gold coins and 4 silver coins.”
“That’s an awkward amount.”
“Alright, alright. Let’s make it 10 gold coins then. Here you go.”
With a slightly exasperated expression, Kenneth placed 10 gold coins on the table.
“That much!? Yay!” Lily happily accepted the gold coins.

“Will you be going out again tomorrow?”
“That’s the plan.”
“I see…”
Kenneth nodded and then looked at Leanne.
“Oh, yes, I understand… Yuuma-sama, the reason I called you here is because I actually have a request,” Leanne said, nodding with a blank expression before quickly smiling at me.
“A request? Is it about that thing?”
Of course, referring to the warning letter.
“Oh, no, it’s not about that. It’s actually about Colette... she’s my cousin, well, she’s the princess. She said she really wants to thank you, Yuuma-sama.”
Ah, is that the princess who was in that carriage saved by Big Spider-chan?
“A thank you… Is that okay given the current situation? She’s being targeted, isn’t she?”
They did send a warning letter, after all.
“Ah, well, yes, that’s true. But Colette insists that it would be disrespectful not to thank you after you saved her… To be honest, among the guards you saved, there were two who recently got married. Because of that, she feels she must personally express her gratitude.”
So it’s just the princess being a bit stubborn. We’ve already received thanks and a reward from the king, so it’s not something that needs to be brought up again.
“A married couple, huh… Could it be that maid?”
I looked at AI-chan.
“Probably, right? There weren’t any other women with them.”
“Yes, I believe that’s it. The maid who attends Colette and the captain of the royal guard.”
I see. Given that they’re close to the princess, it’s understandable that she wants to express her thanks personally. I get the sentiment.
“Can’t you stop her…?”
“I’m sorry. My uncle is quite lenient with his youngest daughter…”
Well, I can kind of understand that. Having a daughter in his sixties who’s just around ten years old would feel more like having a granddaughter.
“So, what exactly is planned?”
“A tea party. I’ll be attending as well.”
Is it similar to when we met the king before?
“Well, it’s not something I can refuse.”
“I’m truly sorry. I know you must be busy.”
“No, it’s fine. So when would it be?”
“How about tomorrow? It can be any time, but sooner is better, I suppose.”
Tomorrow, huh…
“What about you guys?”
“We’ll be working on our own.”
Is that alright?
“Got it. Leanne, tomorrow works for me.”
“Understood. We’ll come to pick you up tomorrow afternoon.”
“Sorry for that.”
“No, it’s only natural. I apologize for taking up your time.”
Leanne bowed deeply. She’s been bowing a lot lately, but is it really appropriate for royalty to bow so easily?
“Oh, and can you buy a map?”
“A map? What do you mean by that...?”
“There’s a shikigami that’s a bird. It’s been observing the terrain, and AI-chan has recorded that as a map”
With that, AI-chan placed the map on the table. Leanne picked it up and began examining it. Kenneth also started looking at it closely.
“Ah, I see… This is a map from the capital to the sea. So, the road looks like this, huh?” Kenneth commented, impressed.
However, Leanne’s smile had disappeared from her face.
“Is that so… Yuuma-sama, do you have a map of the capital?”
“Yes, I do.”
With that, AI-chan placed another map on the table. Leanne immediately began examining it.
“This is quite impressive. Guilmas, wouldn’t it be a good idea to buy this map?”
Kenneth, peering at the map with interest, made the suggestion.
“That might be a good idea… Yuuma-sama, are you also selling maps of Celia?”
“Yes. I sold it to the guild.”
“I see…”
Leanne began to look troubled.
“Is something wrong?”
“Yuuma-sama, have you had any requests to create maps?”
“No, it was just a request from Pamela the receptionist to draw maps for the guild. I only sold maps of the southern forest and eastern ruins as part of that.”
So there wasn’t a specific request for maps themselves.
“I see… That explains why we haven’t received any information.”
Leanne nodded.
“Was there something wrong?”
“Yes, it’s problematic. Creating maps is not an issue, and it’s remarkable that you can create maps of this quality. However, it’s too impressive.”
“Too impressive?”
“If this map is discovered by the military, you’ll likely receive compulsory requests to create maps of the border areas and neighboring countries.”
So, they want maps of other countries’ terrains…
“That sounds troublesome.”
“Indeed… It seems the guild in Celia has been keeping this map hidden, only for their own use. That’s why this information hasn’t reached us.”
Pamela, Jeffrey… and perhaps the district mayor as well.
“Troublesome, huh…”
“Yes, let’s keep this discussion between us. We will buy the map. However, please refrain from selling maps outside of here or Celia’s guild. The military can be forceful and persistent, you know?”
“That’s the same as in my original world.”
“Understood.”
“Yes. So, we’ll take this map. Is 100 gold coins acceptable?”
“That’s expensive!”
“Guilmas, I understand your sentiment, but if it’s priced too high, it will cause issues during audits.”
“Tch! I hadn’t considered that.”
Kenneth whispered this to Leanne, who then clicked her tongue in displeasure.
“Let’s settle for around 30 coins… We’ll adjust this amount with the cost of magic stones for tomorrow and beyond.”
“Alright. Please proceed with that.”
Leanne nodded, and Kenneth stopped whispering. He took out 30 gold coins and placed them on the table.
“Yuuma-sama, we’ll purchase the map for 30 gold coins.”
Leanne said with a smile.
“That works.”
I took the gold coins and handed them to AI-chan.
“That’s all for now. We’ll come to pick you up tomorrow, so please be ready.”
“Yes. We’ll take our leave now.”
We left the room and decided to head back.
