The Strongest Master Venturing Urban-Chapter 177 I Must Go Too!
Chapter 177: Chapter 177 I Must Go Too!
Just as Jiang Huai was brimming with righteous indignation, Chen Bin shook his head.
"I don’t agree with doing this!"
Frowning deeply, Wei Kai asked in confusion, "Why?"
"If they’re daring enough to target you, didn’t they anticipate retaliation? What if they’ve already dug a pit in advance? Acting rashly like this would only mean walking straight into their trap."
Hearing these words, Wei Kai drew in a sharp breath.
Clearly, he realized that Chen Bin’s reasoning made a lot of sense.
Grinding his teeth, Jiang Huai asked reluctantly.
"So we’re supposed to just let this go?"
"Of course not. But revenge, for a gentleman, is never too late. We need to wait until they’re complacent, then deliver a decisive blow!"
Wei Kai chimed in, "Secretary Chen has a point; let’s follow his suggestion."
Seeing Wei Kai’s agreement, Jiang Huai could only swallow his anger for now.
In the afternoon, Chen Bin planned to go to the county to meet Xue Baoguang.
As the car rolled out from the town government compound, Cheng Zhuang pointed to a woman not far away, saying, "I think that’s Ding Zi?"
Chen Bin took a closer look and realized it really was Ding Zi.
So he said to Cheng Zhuang, "Pull over next to her."
Once the car stopped, Chen Bin slowly lowered the window.
Ding Zi greeted him coldly.
"Secretary Chen!"
When Chen Bin first met her, Ding Zi always carried a frosty demeanor.
Initially, he thought she had something against him personally.
Only later did he realize that Ding Zi treated everyone the same way.
Chen Bin asked, "Are you waiting for a ride?"
"Yes!"
"Where are you headed?"
"The county!"
"Hop in, I’m heading that way."
Ding Zi initially wanted to decline, but seeing the bus that was supposed to arrive still delayed, she finally opened the passenger-side door.
As they traveled, the car was quiet, with all three keeping silent.
Approaching the county town, Chen Bin asked again.
"Where specifically are you headed? I’ll drop you off first."
Ding Zi replied, "The County Hospital."
Following instructions, Chen Bin had Cheng Zhuang drive to the County Hospital and then spoke again.
"I have some business at the County Committee; it’ll take about half an hour or so. You can wait here, and I’ll drive you back later."
"No need, thank you."
After speaking, Ding Zi opened the car door and walked away.
Facing such an ice-cold beauty, a glimmer of desire flashed in Chen Bin’s eyes.
He couldn’t help but wonder if she’d still be this cold in bed.
As the car entered the County Committee and County Government compound, Chen Bin noticed someone standing at the office building entrance from afar.
Upon approaching, he recognized the person as Xue Baoguang’s secretary.
When the car stopped, the secretary stepped forward and opened the door for him.
Faced with such treatment, a faint trace of doubt arose in Chen Bin’s heart.
Secretaries often represent the intentions of their superior to some degree.
Why would Xue Baoguang instruct his secretary to act this way? What could his motive be?
Could it be that he knows Xu Tai?
Just as Chen Bin was mulling over these thoughts, the secretary spoke up first.
"Secretary Chen, Secretary Xue and County Magistrate Ye are currently discussing something. Please wait a moment."
"It’s fine, no rush."
Like in Qingshi County, Xue Baoguang’s office has a nearby secretary’s room.
The secretary led Chen Bin into the room and poured him a glass of water.
They sat on the sofa and began chatting.
Yet half an hour passed with no sign of Ye Hong emerging. The secretary finally stood up and entered Xue Baoguang’s office.
When he returned, he relayed the message to Chen Bin.
"Secretary Xue asked me to find out if you’re here for work-related matters or something else? If it’s about work, you can go in directly. For other matters, you’ll have to wait a bit longer."
Chen Bin stood up and answered, "I’m here for work-related matters."
The secretary made a "please" gesture.
"In that case, please go right in."
Following the secretary into the office, Chen Bin quickly spotted Xue Baoguang and Ye Hong.
"Secretary Xue, County Magistrate Ye."
Xue Baoguang asked in a calm tone, "What’s the matter?"
Chen Bin immediately replied, "I think that if Qinghe Town wants to break away from poverty, it needs to look for alternative solutions. I’m planning to visit the southern coastal cities to see if there’s anything worth learning."
After a brief moment of thought, Xue Baoguang looked at Ye Hong.
"What are your thoughts on this matter?" ƒreewebɳovel.com
Ye Hong nodded approvingly at Chen Bin, "Young people are different; they dare to think, dare to try, and dare to act—I support this!"
"Alright, since that’s the case, the county will take the lead on this. Arrange for a team to visit Shanghai for an inspection!"
As soon as Xue Baoguang finished his sentence, Ye Hong chimed in.
"I think the county should send Yu Jiang. He is in charge of economic matters, and it’s definitely worthwhile for him to learn from Shanghai."
"No problem!"
Xue Baoguang nodded before turning to Chen Bin.
"As for Qinghe Town, decide who will go as soon as possible so that preparations can be made for departure."
After Chen Bin left, Ye Hong and Xue Baoguang continued discussing the matters they hadn’t yet finished.
Back at his office, Ye Hong immediately summoned Vice Magistrate Yu Jiang.
First, Ye Hong outlined the plans for the inspection in Shanghai, then instructed Yu Jiang to keep a close eye on Chen Bin.
Any unusual activity must be reported immediately.
When Chen Bin returned to Qinghe Town, he ran into Wei Kai at the office building’s entrance.
Once inside his office, Wei Kai quickly shut the door behind him.
"Recently, Lu Huisheng’s people have been trying every trick they can to win over Cai Lixia and Ding Zi—are you aware of this?"
"Of course I know!"
"What should we do then? Cai Lixia and Ding Zi have always been neutral, but if Lu Huisheng’s people manage to pull them onto their side, it’ll be trouble."
"Then let’s bring them along for the inspection. It’ll be a good opportunity to foster better relationships."
"What inspection?"
"I’m planning to visit Shanghai to see if there are any projects suitable for us. The county will send the vice magistrate to lead the inspection team, and I plan to take you, Cai Lixia, and Ding Zi along on behalf of the town."
Hearing that Chen Bin wanted to take him to Shanghai, Wei Kai became visibly excited.
"No problem, I’ll start preparing right away."
"No rush—I’m planning to speak with Cai Lixia first. As for Ding Zi, I’ll have to wait until she’s back from the county."
Seeing Chen Bin about to place a call, Wei Kai grinned and said.
"Let me go personally to inform Cai Lixia; sharing good news like this will make everyone happy."
In Chen Bin’s view, it would be hard to keep the inspection plans under wraps anyway.
So he nodded in agreement.
Soon, Cai Lixia knocked and entered Chen Bin’s office.
Upon learning she could go to Shanghai, Cai Lixia appeared very excited.
After all, Shanghai is a city where every inch of land is worth its weight in gold—she had always wanted to visit.
But the distance and costs had always held her back.
Now with an opportunity to go, and with expenses covered by the government, it was simply too good to pass up.
While Chen Bin and Cai Lixia were still discussing the trip to Shanghai, Lu Huisheng had begun to complain.
"County Magistrate Ye, how can a great opportunity like this be monopolized by Chen Bin? I want to go too!"
