Chapter 412: Three-Way Curse Dominion

As soon as Lyra heard they were under attack, she summoned Fumetsu, surprising Mandy, who could not see the entire basement, droning with rhythmic red light, because it wasn’t meant for the eyes of a mortal.

"How the heck do you keep doing that? Are you hiding it in your sleeves or something?" Mandy exclaimed, seeing Lyra holding a short sword out of nowhere for the second time. First was when Janice broke into Ace’s bedroom, on the first floor, through the window, and now, when Janice’s expression and voice suddenly turned grave, babbling about being attacked. As much as she tried to remain indifferent about their little club, they were making it hard for her to do so with their magic tricks.

"Lyra, you stay down here with Mandy. We will go check out what’s wrong," I ordered, ignoring Mandy. Before I could turn and ask Janice if she had truly handed the full control of the array formations to Dee3, Lyra protested, saying, "I am coming too."

Janice hurried out of the house to check on our attackers while I sharply turned to lock eyes with Lyra and sternly warned, "This is not the time to be willful. Pam and Danny are outside the estate, and she could be returning home any moment now. I have no idea who is attacking us and why, but considering the strong reaction of the array formation, they are a lot more powerful than the likes of Sonia. There are already many variables to consider here. I am begging you, don’t add to it. Just stay down here."

Lyra’s rebellious expression froze listening to her baby brother. She just wanted to help, but listening to him list the things she failed to consider, she couldn’t help but think that if she couldn’t be the solution to the problem, the least she could do was not be an obstacle to the solution.

"What about our mom, dad, and uncle? I can guard them instead of squatting here and doing nothing," Lyra wanted to be of help in some way or the other way instead of sitting in the cozy basement and doing nothing.

"The McSuile family guards and Lilith will watch over them, you just ensure Mandy and your safety," I said and rushed out of the basement at my fastest speed without giving Lyra time to argue.

"Ace–" Lyra wanted to argue that she could do a better job than the little psycho Lilith, but he had vanished out of her sight. She did not like the current situation and the way she felt. It was not acceptable. Meanwhile, Mandy’s eyes glinted, seeing the perfect opportunity to learn about her cousins’ secret lives.

...

As I rushed out of the Lansky manor, I summoned Specroll in exo-skeleton curse gadget form. I had it change the aesthetics of the exo-armor to avoid suspicion of me using missing goods from the secret Base Wulfric, since it couldn’t upgrade the tech it had copied like the other races of its species. Donning it, I shot to the sky, coming to a halt beside Delores and Janice, asking, "What’s going on?"

"It’s a curse dominion, covering the entire town and its outskirts. It has dragged everything curse-related into it. Since the estate is protected by the curse array formation, it was dragged into the curse dominion. However, because of the curse array, the estate is protected against the curse dominion’s influence," Janice informed everything she had managed to gather on short notice, hovering in the sky thanks to her cursed boots.

Meanwhile, Dee3 joined us, being carried by a huge cyborg butterfly, latched to her back, acting as her wings. It was a mesmerising and enviable sight. I would love to be carried around by that cyborg butterfly at least once.

"Though the curse dominion is a bit overpowered for a Sky-tier curse dominion, our arrays will easily hold up against it until we run out of the curse energy supply. Based on my calculation, if these conditions prevailed, it would take another four weeks for our energy supply to bottom out. So, we are safe until the reinforcement arrives," Dee3 did not waste time with small talk and immediately reported her findings based on the data the array formation core gave her.

"Who would be this brazen in the McSuile family territory? Is it about the Sol ring again?" Delores pondered aloud, knowing the only way for her to find the answers would be to leave the protection of the array formation and step into the curse dominion. She could also wait for the enemy to show themselves, but that would be too passive for her style.

"I placed the Sol ring in the family’s vault right after the last attack. I don’t think it has anything to do with this attack. Also, considering the wide coverage of the curse dominion, it is hard to tell if they are specifically targeting us. For all we know, they are here for Matthews. She has just as many enemies as I do," Janice explained immediately, not wanting Ace to blame her for endangering his family.

"We need to go out and confirm, instead of speculating from in here," I proposed, and Delores nodded, agreeing with me. We had come to a tactical understanding to head into the curse dominion, only to be interrupted by Dee3, who said, "Or we can just send some drone-type curse gadgets. Nobody has to be a hero today."

"Yeah, let’s do that," I readily agreed without waiting for Delores’ response.

Meanwhile, at the center of the curse dominion, three figures dressed in peculiar attire hovered in the air in a triangular formation, guarding the man at the center, who held a compass while reciting various aboriginal words.

"Egger, how sure are you that this is where the people who stole from us are?" one of the guards asked the man with the compass, interrupting his chant.

"Motherfucker, I have to start from the first verse," Egger cursed in frustration knowing that the guard did that on purpose just to irritate him.

"Before you do, answer me first," the guard continued to pester the man with the compass, only for another guard to speak up, reminding, "Captain, this is McSuile family territory. I don’t think it would be wise on our part to stay here any longer than we need to."

"Relax, Banner. I don’t think the McSuile family has enough personnel and resource at its hands to spare their energy and time monitoring every little conner of their territory, especially an small and insignificant town like this one," the Captain spoke his mind only to be corrected by the last guard, the core of their three-way curse dominion, "Captain, I sense atleast one Sky-tier, a few Ocean-tier, and several lower level curse masters in this town. Not to mention, there is an estate which is being protected by a curse array formation capable of withstanding a void-tier’s attacks."

"David, are you sure it’s a void-tier curse array formation?" The captain asked with a grave expression, losing his previous playful grin.

"There you have it, Captain. Do you still have any doubts about my divination? If not, please try not to disturb me again. And let us hope the people who stole from us are not in that array formation. Otherwise, this will be a wasted trip," Egger said smugly before returning to reciting a series of aboriginal words while focusing on the gold-plated compass in his hand.

The captain glared at Egger’s scaly back, wanting to teach him a lesson, but he held back from giving in to his impulse, knowing that the mission took priority over their petty grievances. Then, taking out a glass orb, he barked a series of orders mentally to the other two guards.

’David, give Banner the exact coordinates of all the curse users close to us and heading our way.’

’Banner, ready the curse cannon and aim to attack at my command.’
