The Stonehearted Knight-Chapter 440: Tier eight items
’What should I buy this time?’
Hex inspected the items on the revolving shelves. All the items on display were tier eight. The owner suggested tier eight and below but Hex declined the advice. Why would he bother with lower tiered items if he could get tier eight now? Well, there was a good reason behind the owner’s suggestion. Hex realized it when he went through a few rounds of the shelves.
Soul Sourcrout
Tier: M8
Price: W 1,500,000 or treasures of equal value
Description: Sour to taste but its effects are sweet. These fruits are grown in places with rich soul energy and harvested at the darkest of nights in the decade. The darker the night, the higher the potency. Helps with increasing soul energy, strengthens the bond with contracted beasts, and can increase the efficiency of the healing process.
Divine alloys (3 pieces)
Tier: M8
Price: W 1,900,000 or treasures of equal value
Description: These alloys are smithed by Anvillan, the deity of crafts and forges. After His fall not many pieces remain for sale. Can be used to strengthen weapons and armors. Best use, however, is for creating equipment that require resistance against high pressures, as these alloys can withstand pressures up to a thousand times the pressure at the deepest points of the seas.
"These things are wonderful but so pricey," he complained, knowing fully well that these items couldn’t be bought just with money in the outside world. Heck, he had never even heard of these things.
"You could always exchange for them," offered the owner. It took some effort on Hex’s part not to roll his eyes at the owner. The man may be acting normal but He was anything aside from normal.
"If I had items of such value, would I be here?" Hex asked, hoping his fake smile compensated for the sarcasm trickling down in his voice.
The only reply he got on that was a soft chuckle while the owner resumed feeding His rabbit carrots and stroking its fur. Why was He here? Their deal had been completed the last time. Shouldn’t that automatic voice have taken over from there on? Hex refused to believe that the owner welcomed every customer individually, even if they had a high tier. Not only that, but also spent time catering to the needs and wishes of the customer.
’My tier isn’t even that high yet.’ Tier eight in a range of fifteen tiers didn’t seem to warrant such a special treatment. Something wasn’t adding up. Alas, he had no way to force the man to answer. So, he allowed him to lounge while he went through the items.
’Each item is special and could be beneficial to me.’ Hex had roughly three and a half million Wrixian coins on him. He could use it to buy a large quantity of lower-tiered items but he preferred to opt for quality over quantity.
’With my special abilities and Heart, low-tiered items will have limited effect. I should go for the high-tiered items. There is not enough time to take it slow and steady.’
He took his time. According to the owner there were about a hundred items at tier eight and he wanted to look at each of them before making his decision.
It took him three hours to go through every item, studying the price and effects. Now and then he asked the owner for clarification. Sometimes he received an extended version with tips. Other times he just got a shrug and a simple ’Can’t explain more. The items are rare and never tested to give an accurate answer. You have to see it for yourself.’
’I still am torn inside. What should I buy?’
He wished to buy all the hundred items on the shelves. Each could be used to enhance his strength and survivability. But he lacked treasures and money. And only half of these items had a price listed. The other half were only available through barter. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
’I guess that should be my first filter.’
Hex didn’t have a lot of items worth something great. The crystals he had were too precious to exchange. He still hoped to find an area with enough death energy so he could recharge the crystal and exchange more knowledge from the Goddess of Death.
The other one he had with him helped him deepen his mastery over the Earth element. It had no use for him, other than being a life-saving item against Enlightened beings, he didn’t wish to part with it. When the time came to construct or bend the Earth laws and create his own, he could use it as an example.
After filtering through the ones with a listed price, he excluded alloys and weaponry. His style revolved around control and mastery over the elements coupled with his immense physical powers. Even tier eight weapons could add very little to it.
’I should invest a little more into my Soul and Soul Beast. It has the best increase in strength potential.’
His decision wasn’t based on guessing. He could sense that he was missing a little something to advance to the next stage. Even if he tempered himself more following the instructions of the Dragon Phoenix Body Method, he would get minimal returns. His physical abilities had reached their limit. His mastery over the elements had completed and been fully refined. All he needed was a little push and he would enter the Transformation Stage.
An enhanced Soul would also strengthen his bond with the Dragon Bear Soul. When he fused with it, his strength would explode exponentially, enabling him to face most Transformation Stage Knights at equal power.
In the end he decided to buy the Soul Sourcrout for one and a half million Wrixian coins and another item valued at two million coins.
