The SSS Ranked Villain's Return-Chapter 69: Affinity Compiler
<I know, so order some pizza or something—we’ll be back soon. Just have to pick up Elara on the way back.>
"Sure, I’ll do that. See you in a bit." Neraxis said his goodbyes, quickly hanging up the phone.
It had been a day since both his mission and the system log, and now his family would be coming back shortly—likely in the next few hours.
He had gone out earlier and bought more than just a few pizzas—a massive cake and a few potions as well.
Now the only thing left was to set up the table and patiently wait.
However, as he moved around and finally set everything up, Neraxis noticed that he still had a bunch of time to spare.
At the same time, there was one thing he could do that likely wouldn’t take too long:
- [Skill Effects (4/4) Affinity Compiler (Special One-time use Active): Attune to your natural affinity.]
Without further ado, Neraxis focused on it, and immediately, a red system screen appeared before him, displaying all of his choices.
And for some reason, there were a lot more than he was initially expecting.
- [Fire {C}]
- [Shadow {B}]
- [Astral Flame {A}]
- [Blood {A}]
- [Destruction {S}]
He was amused by all of those choices, with each one being better than the last, but as his eyes landed on what the final affinity was, he couldn’t help but gasp in shock.
- [Eclipsed Abyss {SSS}]
What the fuck? he exclaimed, and Evangeline’s reaction wasn’t any different.
[Woah... Now that looks good. Can you check the information on it?] she questioned, and he immediately tried clicking on it. However, there was no response.
When he clicked it the fifth time, it finally reacted, and his body began burning up.
[The affinity is awakening...] Evangeline announced in a worried voice and dashed out of his body in her sword form.
Before he could react, she suddenly stabbed through his clothing, carried him to the backyard, and dropped him in the center where the grass hadn’t fully grown back.
What was that for? he questioned, but as Neraxis looked down, he saw the grass around him wilting. Before long, the scorching pain intensified.
However, that did not seem to last long, as his eyes narrowed in on Evangeline cutting the wilting grass around him before the pain seemingly went away.
Yet when Neraxis glanced at his hands, all he could see was a dark shadow. When he moved his hands, it seemed to influence the space around it, causing miniature cracks.
The same went for his body, as all of a sudden, his internal organs felt different in a way he could not explain.
But one thing was for certain—his body had a constant stream of mana flowing through it nearly at all times, naturally at that.
And lastly, his eyes—they felt different. As he stared at Evangeline in her sword form, Neraxis could see a certain flare in them, as if stars were swimming inside.
All of a sudden, the red system notification appeared before his eyes. This time, it displayed the contents of his new affinity.
- [Eclipsed Abyss {SSS}]
- [Affinity Description: The user’s mana is a singular, living force—a fusion of destruction, cosmic energy, and life-draining power. It passively radiates an aura that weakens enemies, distorts the environment, and sustains the user.]
- [Perk (1/3): Aura of the Abyss: A dark, star-speckled energy surrounds them, passively eroding objects, sapping strength from foes, as well as bending light and space subtly. Toggle ON/OFF]
—Sapping effect: 10% less damage done by those affected.
- [Perk (2/3): Unyielding Vitality: Mana sustains the user’s body, healing wounds and restoring energy by absorbing life force from the environment or defeated enemies.]
- [Perk (3/3): Cosmic Sight: The user’s sight is guided by the stars, increasing the damage of all vital hits by 100%.]
—[Note: Perk effects increase in proportion to the user’s rank. Perks can be trained with the proper usage of mana, making them much superior and even rival their higher-ranked counterparts.]
First of all... Toggle off, Neraxis stated with a heavy breath, and immediately, the deterioration around him, as well as the weird layer of black mana surrounding his body, disappeared.
Second of all, what the fuck? Quickly composing himself, he read through all of the perks again, making sure he wasn’t seeing things.
And indeed, even after closing and reopening his eyes, the perks were still there, one better than the other.
However, one thing was clear—this new affinity was a combination of the three types of skills he used.
Eve of Ruin, Stellar Dominion, and lastly, Vampiric Dominion. Each skill had a set affinity, and in the end, he ended up with the mysterious Eclipsed Abyss.
The perks, except for the last one, were vague, which Neraxis guessed he’d need to figure out himself.
Alas, there was no time. He needed to patch up the grass as well as likely the couch he had been on before Evangeline threw him out of the house.
And that’s exactly what he did, taking nearly an hour to fix everything and make it seem like nothing was off.
At the same time, his body noticeably strengthened, so Neraxis couldn’t help but check his status window again.

His eyes traveled down with clear satisfaction until eventually, he landed on the Luck stat, which for some reason, went even lower than G-.
The system must really hate me, huh? He chuckled and closed the status window before heaving a deep breath.
I finally reached E- rank. Now I just need to keep up the pace and eventually reach S-, just like before. Neraxis motivated himself and soon heard the distant echoes of a car driving closer.
Immediately, he tidied up the table, and without further ado, changed his tattered clothing before swiftly heading down and opening the door.
In Neraxis’s sight appeared his family, carrying a bunch of shopping bags, with Elara seemingly in the lead—who could spend more.
"Welcome back," he greeted like some sort of butler, earning a laugh from each in response, before his gaze finally landed on his mother.
Neraxis went up to her, and before she could say anything, he interjected. "I am sorry."
"Good," his mother said in a stern tone, placing her hand on his shoulder. "I’m surprised it took you so long to apologize. Just make sure to not make me worry like that again."
He was expecting some sort of big reaction, a rejection, or even a slap perhaps, but all he received was a pat on the shoulder.
"Sophia, do you think we should sue the academy, by the way?" Neraxis’s father suddenly brought up, and as he did, his mother’s face turned cold as a grin appeared on her face.
"Oh, dear Roskaris... We are definitely suing."
All the while, he could only smile while sending a nod toward Elara and receiving one back in response.
"Right!" his father suddenly halted before saying, "We received the club consent forms, and it looks like you signed up for the Alchemy club? Really?"
"Alchemy?" Sophia pitched in with interest. "Is that what we signed? I wasn’t paying attention..."

The two began talking about the academy while going inside the house, Elara following suit.
Oh right... Neraxis suddenly remembered. Tomorrow is club sorting day.
