This was the weirdest Neraxis had felt in a long time.

Not only was he forced to watch himself play with his greatest enemy, but as it turned out, Lagus was actually his father.

Neraxis didn't even know how to begin processing what he was seeing.

After all, Lagus didn't act like a father in the slightest.

Every time Neraxis made a mistake, Lagus popped up and hit him over the head. It hurt a lot.

But his regeneration kept him going, almost as if, after every single hit, the regeneration increased.

He could feel his little body growing stronger, but even then, the memory seemed to last way too long.

But at least it's giving me time to understand what's happening... Neraxis thought with a shaky breath and decided to bullet-point this entire encounter.

Lagus was an enemy, and that part was certain, even if he was actually his father in the past. He was currently trying to harm Neraxis and those he cared about, after all.

Then there was also the issue of this particular memory.

Is this the memory of the first ever Neraxis? Maybe that's why I couldn't see his memories in that weird realm... it's because the Eternal Sin tampered with them.

He could tell this Neraxis and Lagus had some sort of bond, but it was extremely hard to discern whether Neraxis cared about him or not.

There was definitely fright, that's for sure, though.

Yet as the memories continued in a blur, they suddenly halted on one memory in particular.

A slender girl approached from the forest. She had glowing golden-white hair and strange chromatic eyes. Neraxis immediately recognized her. It was Delta.

She had two dark horns on each side of her head, and she was exuding a regal authority with each step she took.

She finally arrived in front of them, but Lagus didn't pay her any heed.

Instead, he continued playing with Neraxis by correcting every single movement he made—with a punch, of course.

Yet those 'fun' minutes of training didn't last long, since Delta suddenly summoned a giant sword of light and swung down with full force.

Neraxis watched the attack approach, and it felt as if his body was frozen.

This child body had no strength, so even if he wanted to, he couldn't run away.

However, it seemed like that wasn't necessary.

Lagus raised his arm and effortlessly caught the sword of light within his grasp. Then, with a simple tug, he shattered the sword and pulled Delta closer.

Yet it seemed like she was prepared for that outcome, as she pulled out a miniature dagger from her sleeve and proceeded to throw it directly at Lagus.

Or so it seemed, but the dagger suddenly curved, veering straight for Neraxis's throat.

But when it was mere inches away, Lagus swiftly extended his arm and caught the two daggers.

"Oh? Revenge?" Lagus remarked with a chuckle. "Here I thought you weren't the vengeful type, Delta."

"You thought wrong," Delta replied coldly as she pulled out another pair of daggers from her sleeve and held them up in the air. "I will kill you and your son for what you did to me."

"Actually... I didn't do anything to you," Lagus raised a single finger with a teasing smile. "I didn't touch you, but your family. It's kind of ironic since they're dead now, right?"

Delta's brows twitched. "It's been fifty years since then, and you haven't changed a bit, have you, Lagus?"

"Nope. I do enjoy the mundane life a lot, though—more than you could ever know. But it took you a bit to hunt me down again. What's the occasion this time?" Lagus asked as he walked up to Neraxis and patted him on the head. "This little chihuahua is Neraxis. He's pretty fearsome when it comes to killing, but he's pretty annoying."

"Dad... come on..." little Neraxis muttered, then glanced toward the furious Delta. "Who is this lady?"

"Your future caretaker, maybe?" Lagus's words hung in the air, but he soon chuckled. "Just kidding. She's an enemy, and she must die at any cost. Understand?"

"...But why?"

Lagus's brows twitched. "Neraxis... what did I say about asking too many questions?"

Little Neraxis flinched. "I-I'm sorry..."

"Look what you're doing to your own kid..." Delta said with sheer disbelief. "Is this how a father is supposed to act? Does your child even know what you do in your spare time?"

"Hmm... not yet..." Lagus trailed off, glancing at Neraxis with a wide smirk.

"Did you know I actually go around worlds offering contracts to people? They accept the contract, and I fulfill a wish. But lately, the quality of contracts has significantly decreased, so I had no choice but to force contracts upon random people."

He looked back at Delta. "Happy now?"

Her brows furrowed further. "Did you forget to mention the part where you go around worlds destroying families just so you could gain strength? Oh, and did you also forget to mention the contract that you're bound to—"

"Silence," Lagus cut off coldly.

Suddenly, the entire atmosphere seemed to tremble as Lagus straightened his back and spoke.

"Do not mention such matters in front of the little one. He mustn't know about my contracts at any cost," Lagus said as his smirk turned to a full-blown grin.

"And I'm sure you know the cost of even mentioning them, right, Delta?"

Immediately, a faint flash of red appeared right above Delta, and like some sort of orbital laser, it shot downward, trying to pierce straight through her head.

But to everyone's surprise, she managed to step aside in time before kicking the laser right at Lagus.

Yet instead of taking it head-on, Lagus flinched as he moved aside.

And the moment he did, Neraxis watched as the red laser beam traveled toward him. frёeωebɳovel.com

With no way to dodge or escape, he was forced to watch as it reached his body and began decomposing him at a rapid rate, until eventually...

Neraxis's eyes shot open, and when they did, he found himself in the same grassy land with Lagus in front of him.

"So after he used those powers on his mother, I gave him some bread, right? It was something I pulled out of the trash, but he said he liked it..." Lagus finished his words with a chuckle, and upon noticing something off with Neraxis, he couldn't help but take a few steps back.

"Hmm...? Did something happen?"
