The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth-Chapter 283: Sly bastard
He allowed the dragon construct to let out challenging roars to the forest below, sending sizzling heat that melted trees and anything unfortunate enough to be met with it. πππππ¨π²πππ¨π―ππ.ππΌπΊ
Vacuse felt a little awkward as he just stood there behind the stone dragon and let it roar. Challenging roar after challenging roar, until the surrounding trees shook from it.
"Where is this damned beast? Come out, you are not just going to sit around and wait for me to return to the portal, right?" Vacuse said out loud.
He knew the boss was around. The bastard was just waiting to see what would happen, possibly the same thing it did the last time when they killed the other mind stalk apes.
Vacuse did not understand the logic behind it.
Eventually he had to make the dragon construct start shooting balls of fire down randomly, hoping to hit something that would force the mind stalk ape out.
'...fool. That monster is trying its possible best to take over your mind. That is why it did not show itself. Taking your mind will solve the problem of having to fight you physically...'
Vacuse narrowed his eyes at the unexpected words from Rith. "I guess you are right. If it could take over, then there would not be any reason to fight at all."
"So all I have to do is wait for it to realize that its efforts are futile."
And it did not take long.
There was a subtle but definite shift in the air. And a single, malicious attention suddenly locked on Vacuse. It carried anger and deep hatred of annoyances.
Vacuse stiffened and sat up, dark purple energy crawled across his body and his eyes turned into slitted purple as he entered battle mode in an instant. "Where is that..."
Suddenly he jerked back and raised his left hand, dark void energy erupting out to form an umbrella of shield.
Bam.
Something collided with the umbrella with a solid, resounding twack and a vibration that made his hand shudder.
Vacuse frowned as he looked at what hit his shield and he was surprised that it was a feather. A dark red feather that was as long as a short sword and sharper from the looks of it. A soft red glow covered it, trailing in the air as it fell.
"A bird kind of monster eh. The mind stalk ape boss has been busy. It must be angry from the attack I sent from the air the other time..."
Suddenly Vacuse stiffened and his eyes widened. He sent an urgent mental command to the dragon construct and it was almost too late.
Something massive and with many shifting feathers burst from the deep forest. How it was able to conceal such a vibrant type of red was something he could not understand.
It let out a shrill, piercing cry, even as its eyes were glazed over. With a few flaps of its wings it was already impossibly close to him, as if the air was actively aiding it.
Vacuse gave up the thought of creating distance between them and instead turned to face it, the dragon construct roaring, and the roar turned into a blast of raging black fire that blasted the creature head on.
But unexpectedly, the fire slid away from its feathers, having no effect on the bird monster at all.
"What the..."
The monster's feathers had turned slick and shiny, covered by some red energy that diverted the fire off it like water against egg.
Vacuse gritted his teeth but his eyes were already shining. "Closer to that bastard."
If long range attacks would not work, then he would deal with things close and personal.
The dragon construct threw itself forward, its wings shifting powerfully to propel it forward and the two clashed with a mighty shockwave that made the tree beneath bend.
At the same time, something dropped from the clash like a raindrop of darkness.
Vacuse.
The instant the two monsters clashed, he left them to it and instead dropped down like a diving dragon, dark and purple energy trailing behind him like smoke.
Something very strange happened as he dropped.
One of the trees that was directly below suddenly shuddered and turned into a reptilian monster with a hunched back. The monster was trying to get away when Vacuse hit it, and passed through it like an arrow, turning himself into a weapon that burst the monster into pieces.
He continued downward without hesitation or stopping. The ground that seemed so still and silent suddenly erupted into growls and screaming as the illusion that kept the monsters hidden was peeled away.
Vacuse hit the ground like a falling dark star, his physical strength crushing dozens of monsters while his void energy spread out into spikes that killed more than dozens in an instant, while the shockwave sent more flying and some even smashed into trees.
Vacuse raised his brows. "You really kept second stage monsters? Against me? Is this not too much of an underestimation?"
He raised his head and looked at where the boss of the mind stalk apes was standing.
The ape was just like its black gem brothers but even bigger and taller, with little fur over its muscled body. The black shiny gem in its forehead extended to cover one of its eyes, its left eye.
And surrounding the boss were second stage monsters in their dozens.
Vacuse used his umbrella like a walking stick as he took several steps forward. "Can you understand me? These second stage monsters are nothing to me."
He was in the second stage himself, but his power had so far gone above that. The aura he emitted was enough to make the surrounding monsters cower and move away from him, snarling and growling.
And that was when the boss finally moved.
The ape stood on its feet, ignored the second stage monsters that surrounded it and the sound of clashing monsters above. Instead, it stared at Vacuse intently.
Vacuse looked at it back with the same expression. Suddenly he flinched and he took a step back, his eyes widening. "You sly bastard."
