The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 31: The Little Girl Wants Barbecue
"Your mom is really nice."
The room Nancy Miller stays in now is the one she used to live in. Holly looked around the room slowly and said.
Wendy Wright really was very nice, it’s just a pity she loved the wrong person.
Nancy Miller smiled without saying anything.
"Your room’s decor is quite peculiar, looks a bit nostalgic too."
Holly observed the furnishings in Nancy Miller’s room and slowly said.
Although Holly was still very young when she left this home and didn’t really have memories, her mom loved taking photos at that time and took many, many pictures of her.
From the photos, she could tell what her room was like, and what the home was like back then.
Even though Nancy’s room had many more items now, it still seemed clear that her original things hadn’t been moved much.
The original scent was still there.
"Some things belonged to my sister. I couldn’t bear to throw them away; I want to keep them. In case we reunite someday, I could return these things to her too."
Nancy’s lips curved slightly as she spoke slowly.
Indeed, she never threw away anything that belonged to Holly; she just kept them all.
When Miles Miller divorced his ex-wife, she and her sister left in a rush, leaving everything behind.
Nancy felt that if she were ever fortunate enough to meet and know her sister in the future, she could return these things. They were quite meaningful.
"You have a sister?"
Holly blinked, feigning surprise as she asked, looking at Nancy with an innocent expression.
"Yes, a half-sister. I know I have a sister, but I have never met her."
Nancy nodded, saying, maybe others would feel uncomfortable about having a half-sister, but she wouldn’t. She thought having a sister might actually be nice. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Nancy even wondered what it would be like if she met her sister one day. Would her sister accept her as a sister?
"Generally speaking, half-sisters don’t get along."
Holly blinked as she spoke, propping her chin, looking innocently at Nancy.
She wasn’t averse to Nancy, nor Wendy Wright, she just disliked Miles Miller.
Nancy chuckled softly, "I actually think having a sister would be quite nice."
She was considered an only child, always by herself since childhood. She wished she had someone to accompany her; having a sister might not be a bad thing.
The topic quickly changed, and the two went out for a walk for a while, then Holly went home.
After a few busy days, Leo Grant began to relax, with leisure time aside from work.
"Brother, do you want some cream puffs?"
Holly, holding a bag, hopped in, and seeing Leo sitting in the living room reading a newspaper, she ran over cheerfully.
"Brother doesn’t want any."
Leo shook his head, but the moment he saw Holly, his expressionless face broke into a smile.
"Brother, just try it, it’s delicious. Today I..."
Holly chirped like a little bird, chattering to Leo about her day’s events, her little face full of smiles, looking like she had a lot of fun.
The little girl gestured animatedly, her cherry-like mouth opening and closing, her face beaming with a bright smile.
"The little girl seems to have had a lot of fun today."
Leo gently ruffled Holly’s hair, his voice soft and tender.
Seeing the bright smile on her face gave him a sense of fulfillment, as if his heart was instantly filled, warm and comforting.
Holly nodded enthusiastically, "Brother, just taste it, it’s really good!"
Holly pinched a cream puff and held it up to Leo’s mouth, blinking softly, with an expectant look on her face.
"Okay."
Leo’s lips curved slightly as he took the cream puff Holly offered, the creamy flavor spreading in his mouth.
The rich taste of cream wasn’t something Leo liked, as he generally didn’t enjoy cream, but inexplicably this time he found it sweet.
"Brother, is it good?"
The little girl’s eyes seemed to have stars as she looked at Leo expectantly, her eyes pure.
"Yes, very sweet."
Leo ruffled the girl’s hair, with a slight smile on his lips.
"See? I told you it’s delicious."
After getting Leo’s confirmation, the little girl was even happier, her little mouth wide open, a sweet smile on her face.
Leo smiled without saying a word.
The little bunny has ventured into the wolf’s den, perhaps there’s no escape?
Leo pondered this, suddenly wanting very much to keep the little girl by his side.
With her presence, his life had changed significantly, adding some joy to an otherwise mundane life.
"Brother, have you had dinner yet?"
Holly asked.
"Not yet, Mrs. Hayes has gone out to buy groceries."
Leo shook his head; he relied on Mrs. Hayes for meals daily. When she’s not around, he either ate out or ordered takeaway, as he almost never cooked.
"Then, brother, how about we go out to eat?"
Holly blinked playfully, tugging on Leo’s sleeve with an expectant look.
"What does Holly want to eat?"
Leo asked, looking at the little girl.
"I want to have barbecue; I went with my classmates today, it was delicious. I want to go again."
Holly licked her lip, speaking with a look of longing for food, as if her mind was already drifting far away.
A genuine foodie, Holly indeed couldn’t forget about delicious food, wanting barbecue truly, but not solely for pure reasons.
"Okay, I’ll call Mrs. Hayes and take you out for barbecue."
Leo chuckled and turned around to call Mrs. Hayes to let her know, then took Holly out to eat.
"How about we go to the barbecue place nearest us?"
Leo navigated, turning his head to ask Holly.
"But, but I want to go to the one near the plaza."
Holly blinked and spoke slowly.
The plaza was near Veridian University, which was quite a bit further from Leo, making it less convenient if just considering proximity.
"Okay, let’s head over there then."
Leo didn’t refuse Holly’s suggestion and readily agreed.
A little request like that from a little girl, he definitely couldn’t refuse.
"Brother is the best."
Holly grinned widely, her face showing a satisfied smile.
"Silly, just because a small request is fulfilled, you think brother is good?"
Leo’s lips curved slightly as he looked at Holly through the rearview mirror.
The little girl was really easily satisfied.
