The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 248: Missed Things
Forgive him for not understanding, for not knowing what the situation is; anyway, it’s just bizarre.
Cecilia Bennett is bizarre.
Cecilia Bennett keeps drinking, while Holly Sawyer just watches silently, without saying much.
Alcohol can numb the pain when feeling unhappy. Holly is very aware of this, so she doesn’t stop Cecilia.
After a while, Cecilia Bennett is obviously drunk. Her eyes begin to look a bit far-off, and she slumps over the table with a vacant expression.
"Holly..."
She squints slightly, gazing steadily at Holly Sawyer, and calls softly.
Holly replies, "Hmm."
"Do you think my past decisions were wrong?"
Cecilia Bennett asks, her eyes filled with regret.
There’s no medicine for regret in this world, nor any way back. No one waits for anyone at the same spot forever.
Life isn’t a TV drama; once you miss it, it’s missed, and there’s no way back.
She missed Theo Shaw, and that’s for a lifetime. Everyone’s life keeps moving forward and can’t stop because of someone’s departure.
Holly Sawyer: "No."
Cecilia Bennett wasn’t wrong, and Theo Shaw wasn’t wrong. The mistake was that they didn’t meet and fall in love at the right time.
Noah Raines is completely puzzled, looking at Holly and Cecilia Bennett, not understanding what happened between them.
Nathaniel Shaw somewhat comprehends, and he remains silent.
Leo Grant doesn’t speak; Cecilia’s affairs don’t concern him.
"Holly, will you walk with me?"
Cecilia Bennett wobbly stands up, her eyes full of tears, looking at Holly Sawyer with sadness in her eyes.
Holly nods, "Alright."
Leo Grant reaches out and grabs Holly’s hand, Holly glances at Leo, who smiles at her saying, "Stay safe, keep your phone on, and remember to call me."
Leo doesn’t mind Holly going with Cecilia; he gives his reminder.
In his eyes, no matter how capable Holly is, she’s always still a kid.
Holly nods.
She supports Cecilia Bennett’s hand and walks out. Cecilia seems drunk, yet not drunk.
On the park bench, Holly and Cecilia Bennett sit side by side. There are few people in the park, almost none, and the sound of wind rustling the fallen leaves is clearly heard.
"Holly, I really envy you for seizing the moment when you met him."
Cecilia Bennett looks up at a forty-five degree angle to the sky, speaking slowly and very softly.
Holly remains silent.
"You know best about him and me."
Cecilia Bennett turns to look at Holly, her eyes stained with sadness.
Yes, Holly is aware of every single thing about Cecilia; every incident, every detail known like the back of her hand.
It’s just that it’s usually not brought up, automatically skipping over the topic.
"But I didn’t know why you rejected him."
Holly turns her gaze to Cecilia, her eyes calmly like water.
Cecilia and Holly are the same age, twenty-one this year, while Theo Shaw is twenty-five, four years older than Cecilia.
The year they met, Cecilia Bennett was only thirteen, and Theo Shaw was seventeen.
Theo Shaw had good grades and a good personality. At that time, he gave a speech as a senior, and Cecilia accidentally got his speech wet. Theo Shaw spoke without the script.
Cecilia felt sorry and thought to compensate Theo Shaw; thus, they became familiar through back-and-forth interactions.
When Cecilia turned sixteen, Theo Shaw confessed to Cecilia, but she refused and soon went abroad.
Many assumed Cecilia went abroad because of family matters, but Holly knew clearly a part of it was because of Theo Shaw.
"Because he’s really dazzling, very dazzling."
Aside from grades, back then Cecilia Bennett and Holly Sawyer were like little troublemakers, while Theo Shaw was clean and brilliant.
Holly: "You’re no worse."
"His mom approached me, saying whether as a sister or anything else, she asked me to stay away from him."
Cecilia Bennett slowly shook her head as she spoke.
Quite melodramatic, Theo’s mom directly bribed her with money to keep away from Theo Shaw, in any capacity.
"You’re not a weak person."
Holly gazes steadily at Cecilia Bennett.
Cecilia Bennett never followed rules, never obediently conformed because of such things.
"But, I can’t have children with him." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Cecilia Bennett looks up at the sky, holding back her tears so they don’t fall.
Holly suddenly looks up at Cecilia.
"You know, I like him, very much, very much."
"Liked him so much I had already envisioned a future with him at fifteen, sixteen, the age when fantasies are most cherished."
"You also know my menstrual cycle has always been irregular. I’ve seen a doctor, who said the chances of me being a mother in this life are very, very small."
"Even if I recuperate well, the chances aren’t big; pregnancy could easily result in miscarriage..."
Cecilia Bennett rambles on, her eyes dim.
This matter hasn’t been told to Holly because Cecilia knows Holly’s character would surely let Theo Shaw know the truth.
But she wants Theo to give up on her completely.
She likes him, so she wants to have children with him. Theo Shaw is an only child; if they don’t have kids in the future, he’d face immense pressure.
Not wanting to be a burden to Theo Shaw.
Holly pulls Cecilia Bennett’s hand and carefully checks the pulse, her eyes gradually filled with shock.
Indeed, Cecilia’s physique...
Really difficult.
Holly says nothing, she understands Cecilia. If it were her, she’d also leave Leo Grant without hesitation.
Not wanting to hold him back.
"That day, I said a lot of harsh words, even gave up my first kiss..."
Cecilia continues, reflecting on her past, feeling she was very heartless.
She let a boy who admired her for a long time play along with her act, asked him in front of Theo Shaw, fervently claiming she didn’t like Theo, claiming she liked someone else.
Holly remains silent, just gazing steadily at Cecilia.
"Am I despicable? Now seeing him have someone by his side, I’m really jealous."
Cecilia leans on Holly’s shoulder and breaks down crying.
Holly: "Not at all."
There’s no right or wrong in love; it’s something inherently incomprehensible.
Cecilia Bennett asks: "Holly, was I mistaken?"
"No, if I were you, I’d only act even harsher. Cutting ties completely is better."
"Don’t dwell on unhappy things, look forward."
Holly gently pats Cecilia on the back, soothingly.
Time can soothe many things. Once rebellious and unbelievable, now their temperaments have calmed a lot.
"Alright."
Cecilia nods and leans on Holly.
The night wind is slightly chilly. It is already early morning, Cecilia Bennett cries herself to sleep, breathing steadily.
