The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 193: Leo Grant’s Birthday Banquet
Leo’s birthday arrived as expected, and he received a phone call from the old estate early in the morning, telling him to hurry over.
The Grant Family’s old estate is a bit of a distance away, and getting there would take some time.
Holly, wearing pajamas and slippers, shuffled into Leo’s room. Seeing Leo all dressed up, she yawned.
"Brother, can I go later?"
Holly rubbed her sleepy eyes and slowly spoke.
She was really tired and wanted to sleep a bit more. It was still early in the morning, making it difficult for her.
You know, she’s extremely lazy in the winter and can stay cooped up indoors for a month without stepping outside, spending time only inside.
Bedroom, living room, kitchen, dining room, balcony, bathroom...
"Alright, have your best friend go with you, okay?"
"Here’s the invitation. Hold on to it. Call me when you arrive, my phone’s always on for you."
Leo adjusted his tie and walked over to Holly, gently ruffling her hair.
The little girl looked so sleepy, he couldn’t bear to have her leave with him so early.
It’s just that since he’s the main character today, Elder Grant wanted him there quickly. Actually, ceremonies and such don’t start until the afternoon.
A birthday party without the main character’s presence is really hard to justify.
Besides, this wasn’t just any simple birthday party; it was an event to announce the new Family Head.
"Okay."
Holly nodded slightly, yawned again, and went back to her room to sleep.
She really felt exhausted.
Leo looked at Holly with a gentle gaze, and once she returned to her room, he left.
The little girl was adorably lovable.
——
Holly woke up around noon, changed her clothes, and asked Cecilia to come pick her up. She was too lazy to drive, and it was difficult to hail a cab in such cold weather.
"I say, is your driver’s license just for show?"
Cecilia glanced at Holly, who was sitting in her passenger seat, and rolled her eyes in exasperation.
They usually enjoyed bantering with each other but had a great relationship—each could point out the other’s flaws, but they wouldn’t let anyone else do the same.
"The photo on the license is ugly, I don’t like looking at it."
Holly buckled her seatbelt, yawned, and said.
Photos on IDs, well, they never come out nice.
"Don’t change the subject, I know you get my point."
The car hadn’t started yet, and Cecilia reached out to gently flick Holly’s forehead.
"Isn’t there a driver here?"
Holly adjusted her seat, speaking as if it was only natural, her gaze mixed with amusement.
"Can I break up with you as friends?"
Cecilia rolled her eyes at Holly and spoke slowly. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
However she looked at Holly, she found Holly exasperatingly punchable.
The legal driving age is eighteen, but Holly had been driving much earlier; she was confident, but without a license and as a minor, she didn’t dare drive on the highway.
She only dared to drive in slightly secluded areas.
In the past, Holly was fearless at racing, incredibly skilled, but after getting her license, she calmed down a lot.
She didn’t enjoy racing anymore and became quite lazy with driving. It baffled Cecilia as to what was wrong with Holly’s mind.
"You can’t, you’re stuck with me, you can’t shake me off."
Holly glared at Cecilia, speaking slowly.
"So, can you drive?"
Cecilia asked, driving was such a boring and tedious task.
"My hands are cold."
Holly blinked her eyes pitifully, looking at Cecilia with a face full of grievance.
Holly’s performance of grievance was to the extreme, nearly squeezing out tears.
"Damn."
Cecilia rolled her eyes at Holly and resignedly started the car.
"When I was underage, driving felt fun and thrilling; after becoming an adult, it just felt a bit boring and lacked that thrill."
"It’s like when I was underage playing games, there were always time restrictions, so I never really enjoyed them to the fullest; after becoming an adult, with no such time limits, the desire I used to have faded."
Holly leaned back in her seat, closed her eyes, and spoke slowly, her tone light.
Yes, that feeling is just like the toys I wanted as a child; unachievable, so the desire was strong.
After growing up, earning money, and being able to buy those toys, the desire faded, and the urge to buy them was gone.
People’s thoughts can be strange things, often puzzling and confusing.
"I understand that feeling."
Cecilia nodded.
That feeling is indeed quite peculiar.
"I feel like I don’t need to drive anymore; I could always sit in the passenger seat or the back."
Holly blinked playfully and said with a straight face, while her gaze at Cecilia was full of amusement.
Cecilia: "..."
Oh man, she just wanted to throw Holly out of the car right now.
"You see, now that I’m in Arkenfall, and with you, Leo, and people from The Pantheon, there are so many folks to pick me up. There’s really no need for me to drive."
Holly counted on her fingers, speaking seriously and blinking at Cecilia.
"Right now, I really feel like throwing you out of the car."
It really seemed like she was being treated as a chauffeur, wasn’t it?
Cecilia really wanted to just throw Holly out right now, let her fend for herself and shiver on the cold street.
"I know you wouldn’t bear to do that."
Holly adjusted her posture, eyes fixed on Cecilia.
Cecilia: "I would."
She would, absolutely would.
"By the way, since you asked me to accompany you, you have to pay an accompaniment fee."
Cecilia held the steering wheel with one hand and stretched the other hand towards Holly.
"Talking about money hurts our friendship, right?"
Holly blinked, looking at Cecilia’s outstretched hand, and started laughing.
"It’s not money that I want."
Cecilia rolled her eyes at Holly, was she really such a superficial person?
Money, although nice, is quite ordinary.
"Then what? Do you want my heart? Sorry, my heart already belongs to Leo."
Holly had a hunch about something, chuckled as she spoke, her face playful.
"Get lost."
If Cecilia weren’t driving right now, she really wanted to give Holly a good smack; she was just too much.
"So what do you want?"
Holly propped her chin up and looked at Cecilia.
"I want that villa to the west, the one with the garden."
Cecilia said.
The villa was in a fantastic location, surrounded by beautiful scenery, birds, and flowers, and had an amazing view, although it was a bit farther from the street.
"It’s not like you can just want whatever I have, except Leo."
Holly shrugged, looking at Cecilia seriously.
