The Slender Waist-Chapter 256 - 179: Excessive Affections_2
"Don’t call me Young General," remembered Ao Qi as Feng Yun first entered the camp and called him "Young General." At that time, he felt he was not worthy of the title; now, he simply did not want it.
He should not overstep, yet he couldn’t help but speak out.
"I don’t like it when young ladies treat me so distantly."
Feng Yun said, "You are now a capable young general in your own right, who doesn’t hold you in high regard? If I don’t call you General Ao, should I call you a guard?"
"Just call me Ao Qi." The young man’s eyes were tinged with melancholy, knowing he shouldn’t feel that way, yet he couldn’t help but feel bitterly envious.
"Aren’t you my aunt? It’s proper for an elder to address a younger by their given name."
Feng Yun initially wanted to say that she hadn’t accepted the marriage yet.
But thinking about the person sitting opposite her being Ao Qi, she ended up agreeing tacitly.
"Alright. From now on, I’ll call you Xiaoqi."
Such an endearing term for an elder to use.
Ao Qi felt his eyes inexplicably reddening.
"The young lady clearly understands everything."
Feng Yun’s heart skipped a beat, she coughed, and did not continue the conversation.
Ao Qi looked at her with a blank gaze, "We can’t go back, can we?"
Feng Yun’s brows furrowed slightly.
If Ao Qi were Chunyu Yan, she could have lashed out at him with eight hundred harsh words, berate and insult him, without holding back half a bit.
But this was Ao Qi.
The young man was sensitive and fragile...
She, too, once went through a time when the heart fluttered at youth, seeing Xiao San, like a celestial being banished from heaven, wishing nothing more than to offer her heart...
What’s more, Chunyu Yan was callous, but Ao Qi’s eyes were full of emotion.
Feng Yun was actually not adept at handling emotions, especially the admiration of a young man, which was hard to defend against.
"Xiaoqi, don’t overthink," Feng Yun chose her words carefully, "When I was in Bingzhou with your Uncle..."
"I don’t want to hear." Ao Qi did not want to hear her talk about Pei Jue.
At least, not from her own lips.
"I came to ask if the young lady still wants to eat fish?"
Oh, Ao Qi.
Feng Yun thought of the young man who dived shirtless to catch fish, his face radiant with a brilliant smile under the scorching sun...
Such sincere emotions, too precious to let down, she felt undeserving of them.
Feng Yun’s head throbbed with pain.
How did things go astray?
In her past life, Ao Qi hated her to the bone.
Why didn’t he detest her like before, hate her for stealing away his uncle?
Struggling out of exhaustion, Feng Yun managed to say.
"I’m ill, the smell of fish is not very comforting."
Ao Qi felt his eyes well up, nearly letting tears fall.
"You never liked eating fish."
"Not exactly," Feng Yun reflexively denied, then coughed twice and said, "The best fish soup I ever drank was made from the fish you caught in Andu County. It was so fresh, so delicious, I think I will never forget it in this lifetime."
Ao Qi’s voice hoarse, "Young lady, I can..."
Feng Yun interrupted him, "I have a variety of tastes, and can try a little bit of every delicacy. But staple foods are indispensable, the sustenance to carry on living."
Ao Qi’s heart surged, alternating between cold and warm, filled with intense and scorching emotions, yet he had no way to express them. He couldn’t articulate well nor did he know how to express, but those feelings of indescribable agony that had troubled him for days finally found a solid place.
At least, he wasn’t entirely useless.
Even if he hadn’t entered the young lady’s heart, his fish did...
"Once I’m free, I’ll catch fish for you again."
"No need..."
Feng Yun, afraid that Ao Qi would misunderstand, wanted to clarify further, but Ao Qi had already stood up. Fearful of rejection, he quickly bowed and dashed out, running like the wind, breaking into a feverish sweat.
As soon as he stepped out of Chunmeng Hall, he bumped into Pei Jue and Wen Xingsu.
The two talked as they walked, and seeing Ao Qi in such a flustered, guilty state, Pei Jue’s brows slightly furrowed.
Wen Xingsu also stopped in his tracks.
Ao Qi felt incredibly guilty upon seeing Pei Jue.
"Uncle," he bowed his head.
He also gave a respectful nod to Wen Xingsu.
"General Wen."
Wen Xingsu slightly nodded back, his eyes that saw through the world passed over Ao Qi’s face, he smiled gently but did not speak.
Ao Qi fell silent.
Pei Jue said, "Go back."
Ao Qi pursed his lips, his eyes frighteningly red, "Uncle."
Pei Jue looked sternly at him, and as Ao Qi met his gaze, struggling between shame and resentment, he hesitantly stuttered without speaking.
"I’m leaving."
Watching his retreating figure, Wen Xingsu sighed.
"Young love is often foolishly passionate."
Pei Jue glanced at Wen Xingsu, "He’ll grow up."
The two fell silent again and entered together to see Feng Yun.
Feng Yun had not expected both of them to visit at the same time.
To her, who had witnessed the two men in her previous life fighting fierce battles over several years, the scene was bizarre yet precious.
General Ningyuan, Wen Xingsu, elegant and handsome, was alive.
