Chapter 94: Eren vs Floor Boss (4)

...

...

[Master, are you okay?]

Useless asked, its tone laced with worry. The system had just witnessed its master narrowly escape death.

’Do I look okay?’ Eren replied in his mind with a deadpan gaze and half-lidded eyes.

Useless fell silent, not daring to respond.

Turning his attention to the floating green holographic screen of his system, Eren asked again through his thoughts.

’Anyway, did you catch that last move?’ he referred to the Boss’s latest deadly attack.

[Yes. I have now collected approximately 96% of its battle data.]

Seeing the percentage increase, Eren nodded slightly.

’That’s enough,’ he said, commanding Useless to display the full combat data of the Boss.

A new panel opened up before him, filled with complex data: stats, skill patterns, movement tracking, and ability charts. Lines of gibberish code, numbers, and digital formulae scrolled by rapidly.

As Eren scanned the information, he confirmed what Useless had reported earlier. This new Floor Boss was indeed a Level 6 monster.

Compared to the Predator Ghoul Boss he had once faced in the game Valoria Legends, this new enemy—the Abyssal Reaper—was on a completely different level of nightmare fuel.

Unlike the previous boss that relied on brute speed and close-quarters combat, the Abyssal Reaper specialized in long-range and area-of-effect attacks. It moved with terrifying speed, launched high-velocity slashes, and applied dangerous debuffs that could cripple a player in seconds. It wasn’t just stronger—it was smarter, deadlier, and much more annoying.

’Figures. I can’t even get close to it. And don’t get me started on that awful rotting bird smell...’ Eren grimaced mentally, annoyed that the boss kept flying high above the ground like a cowardly bat-chicken hybrid.

Analyzing the enemy’s patterns, Eren began forming a new strategy in his head. But just as he was piecing it together—

"KREEEEEHH!!"

The Abyssal Reaper let out a high-pitched shriek that rattled the stone walls of the dungeon. Its wings spread wide, revealing rows of sharp black feathers. A second later, it launched them in a deadly rain of dark projectiles—an area-of-effect attack that covered nearly every corner of the boss room.

Eren’s eyes sharpened. ’It’s trying to flush me out!’

The boss wasn’t just a powerful monster—it was adapting. That made it far more dangerous than any of the usual mindless undead creatures he had fought before.

—Shwish! Shwish! Shwish!

—BOOM! Bang! Crack!

Hundreds of razor-sharp feathers—each shaped like a dagger—rained down like a storm of death, tearing into the ground, walls, and obstacles all around. The dark feathers embedded themselves into stone and burst with dark energy on impact. They were gradually drawing closer to the boulder Eren was hiding behind.

Seeing the incoming assault rapidly approaching, Eren narrowed his eyes. In a smooth motion, he drew his sword from his inventory ring.

This time, he wasn’t going to run.

Seeing its Master step out from behind the large stone, Useless—flashed in panic as it saw the hail of feathers heading their way.

[M-Master?! What are you doing?! That’s a suicide!!]

Eren didn’t answer. He gripped his sword tightly, his focus locked on the incoming barrage. Despite being cloaked in illusion magic to keep himself invisible, he knew the boss could still predict his position once the attacks hits him. But he doesn’t plan on letting that happen as he was going to put another illusion right when he gets hit.

With steely resolve, he used his Aura as a crimson hue covered his whole body, as he swung his sword upward in rapid arcs, slashing through the falling feathers.

—Shwish! Shwish! Shwish!

—Clang! Cling! Shatter! Thud!

He managed to deflect some of the dark projectiles, the blade meeting the corrupted feathers in a flurry of sparks. But even with his quick reflexes and precise timing, it wasn’t enough.

"Guh—!"

A sharp cry escaped his lips as several bone-like feathers pierced into his shoulder, thigh, and ribs. Blood splattered across the stone floor.

He bit his lip hard, staying upright. "Ten seconds..." he muttered through clenched teeth as he calculated the speed of the attack.

The attack had lasted exactly ten seconds. Each feather came at roughly 0.07-second intervals. That gave him a very small window for reaction and countering.

Above, the Abyssal Reaper hovered silently, scanning the room. When it detected no movement, it shrieked again—and launched another rain of death from above.

This time, Eren was ready.

Breathing heavily, he gritted his teeth, as he channeled his Aura again, enhancing his arm speed. He slashed even faster this time, deflecting a higher number of incoming feathers.

—Cling! Cling! Clang! Slice!

—Crack!

But just as he parried the last one, his sword snapped in half. Its durability finally ran out. The blade, chipped and worn from constant use, couldn’t take the strain anymore.

Still, he had managed to protect himself better than before.

Only two feathers pierced him this time—one drove through into his side abdomen, and the other impaled his lower leg. He dropped to one knee, blood pouring out as he let out a guttural cough.

"Cough! Cough!"

[Master, please! You have to stop this! You’re bleeding too much!] Useless shouted, both angry and terrified.

"Huh...?"

Eren glanced at the floating system screen, surprised. For once, Useless wasn’t throwing comments or complaining. It genuinely sounded... worried.

This was new.

Useless can’t help seeing it Master pushing himself so hard for the first time. It couldn’t help but question why?

Why now, of all things, Master was risking his life like this?

Of course, if its master was about to die, it would be fine as the system can still save him.

But now, it can’t do that because of the quest restrictions.

---

The third condition was the cruelest—Useless couldn’t use any SP to heal or revive him.

If Eren died here, it was game over. No respawn. No second chances.

And the most absurd part?

It was all his idea!!

Yes, those restrictions were there because Eren had requested them.

Why?

Because he wanted to make the quest more difficult and challenging

---

Before they had entered the boss room, Useless had pleaded with him one last time.

[M-Master... Are you really sure about this? This quest is..., it looks insanely dangerous.]

"Huh? What’s with the worried tone?" Eren looked at the floating green screen with a confused expression.

"Didn’t you always nag me to take things more seriously?"

"Well, now you got your wish."

[...]

Useless had fallen silent, unable to argue.

Then Eren added with a nonchalant shrug, "Also, I’m only doing this for content."

[...Huh?]

---

Remembering those words now, Useless hovered silently, unsure whether to be impressed or just deeply concerned. Its couldn’t help but feel confused and complicated by its Master’s actions.

Looking at its master kneeling on one knee, Useless felt a sense of panic rise. Eren’s body trembled violently as he clutched the devastating wound on his side. His right arm—completely severed—hung uselessly at his side, a grotesque mess of torn flesh, broken bone, and exposed muscle. Blood poured relentlessly from the wound, dripping down and pooling beneath him in a dark, growing puddle. His left hand pressed tightly against a deep hole on his right abdomen in a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding.

The pristine armor and clean adventurer’s clothes Eren once wore were now in tatters, shredded beyond recognition. They barely clung to his bruised and broken body, hanging in strips. Deep gashes crisscrossed his limbs, and bruises bloomed in sickly purples and reds across his chest and legs. His right eye was swollen shut, a deep cut trailing down from his eyebrow—courtesy of one of the Boss’s earlier feather strikes.

Each breath he drew was ragged and shallow, the pain in his ribs threatening to overwhelm him with every inhale.

And yet, even in such a horrifying state, Eren forced his gaze upward—toward the Abyssal Reaper hovering ominously in midair.

Despite the pain wracking his body, despite the sheer hopelessness of the situation, Eren couldn’t help but admire the design of the creature before him.

’They really went all out with this one,’ he thought to himself with a grim chuckle.

"...Looks like this was a really bad idea," he muttered under his breath, the corners of his mouth twitching upward.

Then—

"COUGH!"

A spray of blood burst from his lips, splattering the broken stone beneath him as his body shook violently. He grimaced, tightening his grip on his abdomen.

[Master! You need to get out of here! This is far beyond what we expected!]

Useless’s voice rang out with urgency and desperation. Though it was just a System, it sounded genuinely afraid.

Eren chuckled dryly again, even as blood dripped from his chin. His voice came out raspy and laced with exhaustion.

"...I think it’s too late for that now." He said as he wiped the blood on his mouth.

His gaze then drifted toward the translucent System screen floating in front of him.

Eren stared at the absurd conditions once more, his cracked lips curling into a wry smile.

"This is so absurd..." he whispered, shaking his head. "Why did I even come here in the first place?"

Pain screamed through every fiber of his being as he forced himself to rise. His remaining hand gripped his injured side as he stumbled forward, barely keeping himself from collapsing again. But he didn’t stop.

He wouldn’t stop.

With his blood-soaked hand, he activated his storage ring and summoned a new sword. A clean, polished longsword appeared in his grip, its blade reflecting the dim glow of the dungeon.

Deactivating his illusion camouflage, Eren fully revealed himself to the monster. His body—bloody, broken, and shaking—stood tall beneath the Boss’s gaze.

The Reaper’s glowing crimson eye immediately locked onto him.

Eren raised his sword and pointed it straight at the flying monstrosity.

A grin—wild and fearless—stretched across his bloodied face.

"Come to me... you disgusting monster."

As if provoked by his taunt, the Reaper’s eye flared with unholy light.

Then—

"KRRREEEEEEEEHHHHHH!!"

With an ear-shattering screech, the Abyssal Reaper dived at him at terrifying speed, its obsidian scythe poised to strike.
