The Second Son of the Marquis Wants to Laze Around-Chapter 92: Eren vs Floor Boss (2)
Chapter 92: Eren vs Floor Boss (2)
–Slash!
–Slash!
Two dark slash projectiles came flying toward Eren at breakneck speed. Without hesitation, he leapt to the side, narrowly dodging them with a swift motion. But it didn’t stop there. The boss kept swinging its scythe, unleashing even more of those deadly dark slashes.
–Slash–Slash–Slash–Slash–Slash!
Unfortunately for the boss, its relentless attacks were aimed not at the real Eren, but at one of his illusionary clones. The clone darted around with impossible agility, dodging every attack as if it were truly alive. Meanwhile, the real Eren was well aware that if he had taken those hits himself, he’d be shredded to ribbons. Those slash projectiles were too fast and too sharp to block or parry. Not to mention, he failed to successfully dodge them, as they were very fast.
Hovering in midair, the boss looked completely different from the original game’s version of the Predator Ghoul. This creature—labeled the "Abyssal Reaper"—radiated a suffocating aura of death and despair. A swirling mist of black energy cloaked its entire body like a living shroud, pulsing unnaturally with a sickening rhythm. It felt as if the very air was being choked out by its presence.
Two massive wings sprouted from its back—dark, ragged, and almost angelic if not for the abyssal energy dripping from their feathered tips. Eren could even spot protruding bones sticking out near the ends, making the wings look half-decayed.
And in its hands, the creature gripped a massive scythe shrouded in the same ominous mist, its long, curved blade glowing with an eerie purple hue that seemed to slice the very air around it.
Everything about this monster screamed "nightmare fuel." And the final touch? A single, glowing red eye in the center of its head, glowing like a cursed abyss creature.
"Yup... definitely not the same monster from the game..." Eren muttered to himself, sweat trickling down his cheek.
Suddenly, the Abyssal Reaper spread its wings wide, the feathers expanding and writhing like they were alive. With a powerful flap, it launched a barrage of projectiles—hundreds of black feather-shaped blades—raining down like a deadly storm.
–Shwish–Shwish–Shwish!
The rain of death tore through Eren’s illusionary clone, revealing it to be fake in a burst of distorted light. But the feathers didn’t stop—they continued downward, now closing in on the real Eren, who was using invisibility magic to sneak away while retreating across the battlefield.
As he sprinted backwards, narrowly avoiding the feather blades, Eren noticed something strange. The feathers that embedded into the floor twisted and shifted—transforming into bony spikes, as the feathers were actually made of dark magic, cloaked in dark energy to resemble fallen feathers. Then, they slowly dissolved into black mist, leaving behind spikes of bones stuck on the ground
"Okay, that’s actually kinda cool..." Eren muttered, even as he fumbled in his storage ring for a healing potion.
Since his system inventory was locked thanks to quest restrictions, he had to rely on his backup plan that he prepared—his enchanted storage ring, where he had packed most of the essentials ahead of time. Still, the ring could only hold so much. He couldn’t afford to waste resources.
Pouring the potion over the wound on his shoulder, Eren winced. The large gash hissed, sizzled faintly... and barely closed at all.
’What the—? This thing barely did anything!’ he scowled internally.
[It appears that your injury is inflicted by a curse, Master,] Useless responded in his head, scanning the damage.
’A curse? what curse?’
[Yes Master. it appears that the boss’s attack carries a debuff effect—one that infects your wounds and hinders the healing process. It’s a high-level curse effect, possibly even stacking over time.]
"Great. That’s just what I needed to hear," Eren muttered sarcastically, pocketing the rest of his potions. If they weren’t going to heal properly, he couldn’t afford to waste them. He had limited supplies and a new boss that he isn’t familiar with.
Up ahead, the Abyssal Reaper hovered ominously, scanning the chamber like a predator sniffing out its prey. Eren’s gaze shifted briefly to the system quest timer, as only two minutes has passed.

"This going to be alot tougher than I thought..." Eren grumbled. He needed a new plan—fast. The original strategy clearly wasn’t going to cut it against this evolved monstrosity.
’Useless...’ Eren called out to his system and began giving new orders.
While the boss was still scanning the room, a figure suddenly appeared right in front of it—Eren, sword drawn and gleaming.
–Swoosh!
He dashed forward at full speed, directly toward the boss. In an instant, the Reaper reacted, swinging its scythe and unleashing four more deadly slashes in his direction. But Eren weaved between them with precise footwork, tilting his body just enough each time to avoid the dark blades. He didn’t slow down.
The Abyssal Reaper hovered 30 feet off the ground, but Eren kicked off the floor with a powerful leap, soaring upward to close the distance. Just as he raised his sword for the finishing blow—
–Slice!
The scythe moved faster than the eye could track, cleaving Eren clean in half.
But instead of blood... the body shimmered and vanished in sparkles of light. An illusion.
The boss paused, momentarily confused. It had hit nothing.
Then—six more figures appeared behind it, surrounding the monster midair. All of them looked exactly like Eren, each wielding a sword and lunging forward in unison.
–Slash!
–Slash!
–Slash!
The Reaper sensed the danger and instinctively shielded itself with one of its wings, curling it inward like a barrier. Several of the clones’ attacks bounced harmlessly off it—but one lucky strike made it through, slicing across the side of its head.
–SLASH!
"KREEEEEHHHH!!"
The creature let out a blood-curdling, inhuman screech. It flapped its wings furiously, releasing a shockwave of pure dark energy that erupted outward like a violent gust of wind, pushing back the clones midair
–SWOOOOOOSH!
As the clones of Eren were knocked backward, their disguises flickered—then vanished. The illusions dissolved like mist, revealing the truth: they had been nothing more than six levitating daggers all along.
Eren had been manipulating them with his Invisible Hand, cleverly cloaking them in illusion magic to make them appear like physical copies of himself. It was a ruse designed to mislead the enemy into believing he was attacking from multiple fronts.
The real Eren reappeared on the battlefield, standing firm on the ground. He raised one hand toward the airborne boss monster.
"Let’s try this again," he muttered.
With a crackle of heat and magic, four massive fireballs materialized above his head. In the next instant, he launched them forward like blazing meteors.
The Reaper screeched and reacted quickly, its enormous wings slicing through the air. It weaved and twisted between the fireballs mid-flight, each maneuver flawless, as it hurtled straight toward Eren with blinding speed.
—Slash!
The Reaper swung its dark scythe in a wide arc aimed at Eren’s neck. He narrowly dodged to the left, skidding across the ground. The monster didn’t relent—it slashed again, twice in rapid succession. Eren avoided the second, but the third connected.
—Slice!
A sharp line appeared across Eren’s neck. His head was severed in a clean cut.
But then—the head smirked.
Eren’s body shimmered and dissipated into particles of light. Another illusion.
—Slash!
From behind, the real Eren emerged, his sword glowing with a fierce red hue glow, revealing that he was using Aura for the first time. With a grunt, he slashed the Reaper’s back.
"KREEEEHHHH!!"
The boss shrieked in agony and flapped its massive wings, soaring higher into the air to gain distance.
"Tch. Stop flying and come down, you floating one-eyed ball!" Eren shouted, mocking it with a grin as he bolted forward and leapt after it.
The Reaper retaliated immediately, swinging its scythe mid-air and unleashing a volley of dark slash-shaped projectiles toward the airborne Eren.
Trapped in midair with no room to dodge—
Eren’s figure suddenly blinked out of view and reappeared several meters away, zigzagging in midair as if he was teleporting.
—Slash!
—Whoosh!
—Slash!
—Whoosh!
Each attack barely missed him as he blinked closer to the Reaper with each phase.
The Reaper, realizing its prey was nearly within range, raised its scythe for a direct strike. Eren met the swing head-on with his empowered blade, clashing weapons in a burst of sparks.
But then—
—BOOM!
Eren’s body exploded into a burst of white light, not from being struck, but from detonating a flash grenade at close range.
The monster howled and staggered in midair, blinded.
Taking advantage of the moment, ten illusionary clones of Eren surrounded the Reaper from all angles. Each one charged forward and slashed.
—Slash! Slash! Slash! Slash! Slash!
"KREEEEEEHHHHHHH!!"
The Reaper flailed and screamed as its wings thrashed violently, emitting a shockwave that knocked all the illusions back. The daggers, once disguised as Eren’s clones, clattered uselessly to the floor.
Frustrated, the Reaper flared its wings wide and unleashed a hailstorm of razor-sharp black feathers that rained across the entire arena.
"Crap,"
Eren cursed, diving for cover behind a pillar. He yanked a glowing magic scroll from his inventory and ripped it open just as the feather storm tore through the room.
The barrage hit everything—his illusions were shredded, and his cloaked body was struck, revealing his location. Dust and debris filled the air. When it cleared, Eren was crouching with a shimmering, translucent barrier around him, the remains of the shield provided by the scroll. But the illusion hiding him had been broken. He was now fully exposed.
With a screech, the Reaper zeroed in on him, charging like a missile.
"Shit!"
Eren dove to the side as the scythe slashed down, breaking the barrier and nearly cutting him in half. The Reaper raised its weapon again.
–Slice!
–Break!
Eren scrambled, pulling out three more scrolls.
—Slash! Slash! Slash!
The Reaper struck again—this time six relentless swings.
Eren activated all three scrolls simultaneously, conjuring triple-layered shields. The first slash shattered the outer layer. The second broke the second. He dodged the third and fourth with acrobatic rolls.
—Crack!
The fifth slash smashed through the final barrier. The sixth came down just as Eren leapt back, barely evading it. Still, the edge of the scythe managed to grazed him.
—Splash! fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
A crimson line split across his chest as his armor cracked and blood spilled down his torso. Gritting his teeth in pain, Eren hurled another flash grenade and three marble-sized magic bombs from his storage ring.
—BOOM!!!
The explosion erupted point-blank between them. Eren was thrown backward and crashed into the stone wall, coughing violently. The Reaper was pushed back as well, wings smoldering as it flew back into the air, though it had only taken minor damage.
"Cough, cough!"
Hidden within a camouflage illusion near the back wall, Eren knelt and clutched his bleeding chest. He pulled three healing potions from his pouch, uncorked them quickly, and splashed the contents onto the wound. The red liquid hissed against his skin.
But the potion’s effects were reduced. The wound barely sealed, likely due to a debuff from the boss’s attack. With a grunt, he wrapped a thick bandage around his torso, wincing as the fabric pressed into the raw flesh.
’Useless, how much data have you collected?’ Eren asked mentally.
[About 71%, Master,] Useless replied with a concerned tone.
’Still not enough.’ He thought as he needed the system to collect more battle data of the boss to know it’s real status.
Of course, Eren could use the Appraisal feature on the boss, but it would only return with question marks due to their level gap. And spending System Points to forcibly scan its status was restricted by the quest conditions.
Clenching his jaw, Eren reached for another healing potion and chugged it in one go.
"I’ll need to push it harder... Make it show me more of what it can do."
He stood up again, blood still dripping, but he let out a wide grin as he took out multiple magic scrolls from his ring, and placed one of them that was in golden color on his mouth.
