Chapter 89: Aberration Dungeon (6)

–Ding!

A system notification flashed before Eren’s eyes as he dusted off his hands.

Unlike the earlier side quests, this one gave him SP as a reward—Skill Points. And that change? All thanks to Useless.

Apparently, the system spirit had grown tired of Eren completely ignoring any rewards like enchanted gear, artifacts, or magic tools. Every time, he just dumped them into his inventory like unwanted trash.

To prevent future waste, Useless had taken it upon itself to convert useless items into something more useful, to a System Points instead.

Eren walked over to where the Glutton Ghoul had exploded. With a casual wave of his hand, he picked up a glowing magic gem using telekinesis and stashed it in his inventory.

He glanced around. The leftover flesh and bones from the monster began to disintegrate into dark dust, fading into nothing. Within seconds, it was as if the monster had never existed at all.

"What time is it?" Eren asked, glancing at the system’s transparent holographic interface.

[It’s 5:37 PM,] Useless replied flatly, already anticipating what was coming next.

After all, it had only been four hours since Eren had gotten out of bed.

"Yep. Time to rest," Eren muttered with a satisfied smile. He pulled up his inventory, ready to summon his bed, pillow, and an entire portable bedroom setup.

Useless floated nearby, staring at him with a blank, emotionless expression. Not surprised. Not angry. Just... disappointed.

Despite hoping that maybe, just maybe, Eren wouldn’t try to sleep again so soon like always...

But of course! He did!

Over the past two weeks, Eren’s daily routine had become oddly consistent: sleep for 14 to 16 hours, wake up and eat, then dive into the dungeon for 4 to 5 hours. After that, he would return to his bed to either play video games or watch anime for another 4 to 5 hours—before going right back to sleep.

Useless had originally assumed, after doing some calculations, that its master would finish conquering the dungeon trial in about than a week—if he spent about 10 hours each day progressing through the dungeon or clearing 2 to 3 floors daily.

But no.

Instead, Eren would sometimes only clear one floor a day—or worse, just half. On some days, he wouldn’t even bother at all and would simply stay in bed, lazily playing games or watching anime like a shut-in.

At the moment, Eren was already sprawled on the bed, wearing his pajamas, eyes glued to the screen of his gaming console. Seeing this, Useless let out a long, digital sigh and decided to check its master’s current status panel.

Thanks to Useless’s idea of generating difficult and complex side quests during monster battles, Eren had now accumulated enough stat points to fully maximize his base attributes and even level up. However, for some mysterious reason, Eren had chosen not to do so, leaving Useless confused and slightly frustrated.

At a glance, Eren’s stats hadn’t changed much since the last time he distributed points—except for his Intelligence stat, which had increased. That was likely because he frequently used both True Illusion Magic and the Invisible Hand skill during combat.

This also made Useless increasingly curious.

What kind of job had its master held in his previous world?

The skill "Invisible Hand" wasn’t difficult to use. All one needed was to imagine reaching out and grabbing an object—typically by visualizing an invisible hand. That was, after all, where the name came from.

However, since Useless was directly connected to Eren as his system, it could actually see how the ability manifested for him. What it saw wasn’t a hand at all.

Instead, there were strings.

Yes—long, invisible strings that wrapped around whatever object Eren wanted to move, lifting it effortlessly into the air. And occasionally, those strings would shift in form, becoming more like tentacles.

This disturbed Useless.

Normally, a normal user of Invisible Hand imagined... well, a hand. That was the standard. But Eren didn’t. He only used the hand shape once, when first testing the ability on a rock. After that, he defaulted entirely to strings and tentacle-like projections to manipulate objects.

This led Useless to one terrifying conclusion, Eren didn’t perceive hands the same way other people did. For him, tentacles or long strings were the default representation of grasping or holding something.

What kind of being thinks like that?

Useless couldn’t help but feel both uneasy and intrigued by the him. Who was this master of his, really?

The system floated silently in the air, watching Eren lie comfortably on his bed, face lit by the glow of the screen as he casually mashed buttons on his gaming console.

....

....

Another week had passed, and Eren finally reached the 29th floor—just one step away from the final floor of the dungeon.

Right now, he was locked in a battle against three Glutton Ghouls, grotesque monsters that barred his way forward. Each of them had a distinct and disturbing appearance: one had a single glaring eye in the center of its face, another had countless writhing mouths spread across its body, and the last was completely encased in a jagged exoskeleton of bone, making it look like a walking skeletal fortress. freewёbnoνel.com

"Graaaaaaaaaa!!"

One of the ghouls let out a blood-curdling roar that echoed through the dark stone corridor. Eren, however, remained perfectly calm, his expression unchanged as he watched the creatures through half-lidded eyes, while leaning against the wall.

The roaring ghoul, the one with a single eye, suddenly charged forward. But instead of rushing at Eren, it darted toward one of its own allies.

With a sickening crunch, the one-eyed ghoul punched the armored ghoul, sending it flying across the room before it slammed violently into the dungeon wall.

—BANG!

Then, without missing a beat, the multi-mouthed ghoul leapt onto the one-eyed attacker from behind. Its endless rows of teeth chomped down savagely, tearing into the other’s rotting flesh as if it were a buffet feast.

While the many-mouthed ghoul was busy chewing on its surprised ally, the exoskeleton-covered ghoul rose back up with a deep growl. Without hesitation, it charged straight at the others and sank its teeth into them, joining the savage feeding frenzy.

Unbeknownst to them, this cannibalistic chaos was all thanks to Eren’s illusion magic. With a flicker of purple light in his eyes, he had cast a powerful illusion that made each ghoul see the others not as monsters, but as large, juicy humans dressed in delicious-looking clothes.

The ghouls were so thoroughly deceived that they didn’t realize they were actually fighting and devouring each other.

It didn’t take long for the one-eyed ghoul to fall first. Its limbs were torn apart by the armored ghoul, which showed no mercy. Then, as the many-mouthed ghoul tried to overwhelm the bone-covered beast by biting into its plated skin, the tide turned again. The skeletal ghoul roared and used its powerful jaw to break through its attacker’s flesh and start devouring its exposed muscles and internal organs.

—Crack. Crack. Crunch!

The gruesome sound of bones breaking and flesh being chewed filled the chamber, painting a disturbing and grotesque scene. The exoskeleton ghoul emerged victorious in the end, brutally tearing the last of its comrade’s limbs and biting off its head before it could regenerate.

Now, the last remaining ghoul—the armored one—was badly injured. Its bony plates had been shattered and stripped in many places, leaving its vulnerable body exposed. One of its arms was completely ripped off, and its regeneration had slowed down to a crawl.

Eren took this moment to act.

Without a word, he reached into his inventory and pulled out his magic Flamethrower rifle. He calmly aimed it at the remaining ghoul, which was still under his illusion spell, munching on the remains of its fellow monsters without a care in the world.

–HOOOOSH!

With a whoosh, a stream of fire burst forth, engulfing the creature in a sea of searing flames.

The ghoul didn’t even flinch. Still bound by Eren’s illusion, it continued to feast on its imaginary prey, completely unaware that its flesh was burning away, second by second. To its dulled senses, everything was peaceful—no fire, no pain, just a quiet meal in a dark dungeon.

But in reality, its bony armor was gone, and its raw, vulnerable body was being roasted alive. Its regeneration had halted entirely, and soon, it collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud.

—Thud.

Moments later, the monster’s charred body began to disintegrate into black dust.

—Puff.

Just like that, all three Glutton Ghouls were dead, their bodies vanishing into ash. Only three glowing magic gems remained behind, pulsing faintly with mana.

"It’s finally over," Eren muttered as he lowered his Flamethrower rifle and let out a short sigh.

Using his Invisible Hand skill, he floated the magic gems toward himself and placed them neatly into his inventory.

—Ding!

A soft chime rang as a new notification popped up in front of his eyes.
