Chapter 70: True Illusion Magic

"Useless. What just happened?" Eren asked, staying still in the same spot, unmoving, as he watched the monster fight his clone.

[It seems that the Thunderclaw has detected your presence and awareness during the fight.]

"And how exactly is that?" he asked in a displeased tone. Hearing that, the system quickly answered with tremble.

[F-From the scents. It appears the monster has begun to notice that your clone isn’t real each time it destroys one. Given how close you are and its rank as a level 5 monster, it’s highly–]

"Skip."

Useless immediately shut up after hearing that word again and fell silent.

Eren was deep in thought, trying to decide what to do. Because he had been moving around the monster while camouflaged, he didn’t expected the monster to eventually catch on, even though it was in a weak state. The reason he kept moving was to recreate his illusion clone every time the monster attacked it, making it appear as though he had dodged or teleported quickly. Since the casting range of his illusion magic was small, he needed to move around the dome and be at the correct distance to the monster, to maintain the effect.

’Is the Lazy King working or what?’

Letting out a lazy sigh, Eren rubbed his face and sat on the ground, then opened his status window.

Seeing that his magic level had changed, Eren turned his gaze back to the Thunderclaw, which was still chasing and attacking his clone.

...

...

While everyone outside the dome watched the fight between the young master and the Thunderclaw—although it looked more like a chase, with Eren only dodging and defending against the monster’s assaults—Leon sat near the edge of the dome, meditating with his eyes closed. A magic cloak covered his body, making him nearly invisible to everyone.

More than two minutes had passed, and he had only recovered about 79% of his mana. Throughout the meditation, his eyes was shut and could still hear the sounds of the battle and the young master’s taunts. Leon felt terrible about the situation. He had wasted more than a minute and was leaving Eren to fight the monster alone.

He still couldn’t understand why the kid was doing this. But then he remembered Eren’s words after Kristoff and the others left the dome:

---

"Hurry up and recover your energy, before I get myself killed because of you. It’s your responsibility now, since my life is in your hands, edgy boy."

---

’Just hang in there, young master,’ Leon thought with a deep frown, trying to recover faster while listening to the ongoing battle.

–BOOM–BOOM–BOOM!

–BUZZZZ!

Meanwhile, the people outside the dome watched the scene with wide, stunned eyes.

"W-What am I seeing?" a knight murmured as he saw the young master moving rapidly, clashing with the Thunderclaw using both Sword and Magic.

Their figures blurred across the dome, exchanging attacks on seemingly equal footing. Even Kristoff and Raven looked completely shocked and confused by what they were witnessing.

’Did he level up?’

That was the question on the minds of most knights, as the young master now moved like a level 3 or 4 Awakener.

–Slash–Slash–Slash!

Eren’s blade managed to land several cuts on the monster’s body. Although it was small, it made the monster roar in rage and release an AOE electric shockwave. But Eren dodged it by teleporting far away, creating distance.

Raising his hand and pointing at the monster, Eren spoke with a cold, stoic, and lazy gaze. free𝑤ebnovel.com

"Elemental Lance."

Six spears materialized above him—Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Ice, and Lightning—all aimed at the monster.

"Go."

He murmured coldly as the six spears shot toward the Thunderclaw, which responded by opening its jaws wide and blasting a lightning strike to counter.

–BOOM!

–BLAST!

The two attacks collided, but the monster’s lightning devoured Eren’s attack and slammed into the dome barrier.

–Shush!

Then, Eren’s figure suddenly appeared in front of the monster with his fist raised, aiming to punch it. The monster’s pupils shrank, caught off guard and unable to react in time. It instinctively jumped back to dodge, but it was too slow.

–Bang!

Eren’s fist struck the monster’s face, as it jumped back. Although the punch wasn’t strong enough to hurt it, the humiliation of being hit angered the Thunderclaw.

–ROOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAR!

The monster roared in rage, generating a shockwave that sent Eren flying. But instead of crashing, he landed gently on the ground, as if his body was light like a feather.

–BZzzzzzz!

The monster charged toward the boy with pure killing intent, its entire body crackling with lightning as it slashed at him with terrifying speed.

–Dodge!

But Eren swiftly leaned to the side, his body tilting with minimal effort as the deadly claw narrowly missed him. Failing to land a strike, the Thundercalw roared and continued its relentless assault, swinging its lightning-infused claws and lashing its electrified tail like a vicious whip.

Yet Eren avoided every attack with effortless composure, his expression stoic and unreadable. He moved like a ghost through the storm, dodging each blow as if he already knew where it would land. At times, he would counter with quick sword strikes or low-voiced spells.

"Fire Balls," Eren muttered, almost lazily.

In an instant, hundreds of small fireballs materialized in the air around the two, floating ominously in the air. Without even looking, Eren swung his free hand to the side—commanding the swarm. All at once, the fireballs launched toward the Thundercalw like a barrage of blazing bullets, and Eren leapt backward, creating distance with perfect timing.

In response, the Thundercalw let out a snarl and unleashed a burst of electricity around its body, forming a crackling lightning shield like-armor in an attempt to block the attack. The fiery barrage collided with its lightning armor, triggering a chain of explosive impacts. The entire area lit up in a blinding storm of color, fire, and smoke.

–Boom! –Boom! –Boom! –BOOM!!

A thick cloud of dust spread through the dome, cloaking the battlefield in chaos. But ince the dust is clear, the monsters appeared unharmed.

.....

While the Thundercalw was locked in battle with what it thought was Eren, Useless turned its gaze toward the real Eren, its master who is still sitting on the ground in the same spot. One hand rested thoughtfully over his mouth, the other lazily draped over his knee.

His fingers were tapping on his knee in random rythm, like if it’s a keyboard. His eyes glowed faintly with a brilliant purple hue, the unmistakable sign that he was using his illusion magic at full concentration.

Eren’s expression had changed. He was no longer simply playing around—his gaze was calm, sharp, and frighteningly focused. It was a face Useless recognized well.

This was the same expression its master wore when he became fully immersed in his console games while playing during a challenge.

Despite the absurdity of the situation, Useless found itself genuinely impressed and amazed. The level of detail in the illusion was staggering. Eren had created a vivid, lifelike combat scene where a version of himself was battling a powerful Level 5 monster head-on. The attacks, the motion, the lighting, the impact, and the sheer weight of the battle—it all looked painfully real. Even Useless, who knew the truth, couldn’t help but momentarily believe it was the real Eren clashing with the Thundercalw.

Of course, on paper, illusion magic like this might sound simple—just "use your imagination," right? But in practice, it is not. The magic spell, "True Illusion Magic" was anything but easy than any normal illusion spells.

It was the highest-tier illusion magic, absurdly rare and monstrously difficult to master. Creating a still image or a fake object? Sure, that was easy enough for even a novice mage. But crafting a full human figure in motion—dodging, casting spells, and moving like an actual Awakener?

That was on a completely different level.

–BOOM! –BOOM! –BOOM!

The battle illusion continued without pause, as intense and dramatic as ever. Useless, watching next to its Master, couldn’t help but wonder:

’Just what kind of job did Master have back on Earth?’

.....

Back to the fight scene, Eren glanced toward the far edge of the dome where Leon was still hidden.

More than a minute had passed and there was still no sign of him moving.

-Shush!

Dodging a fierce lightning swipe, Eren’s clone suddenly shouted in an annoyed tone, "Hurry up, Leon!"

"Are you planning to leave me here to die!?"

–BOOOOOOM!

A deafening explosion shook the arena as another lightning attack lit up the air.

Hearing the young master’s irritated yell echo through the dome, Leon’s eyes suddenly snapped open.
