The Second Son of the Marquis Wants to Laze Around-Chapter 67: Leon’s Stubbornness
Chapter 67: Leon’s Stubbornness
When Erem arrived at the spot where the massive purple dome barrier stood, his eyebrows rose in surprise.
The entire team of junior knights lay scattered outside the dome, badly injured, each of them groaning or unconscious as they were treated by the senior knights — Kristoff, Raven, and the others.
Inside the barrier, only two figures remained.
The Thundercaw, bloodied and battered but still standing tall.
And Leon, kneeling on the cracked ground, his sword stabbed into the dirt as he leaned heavily against it, barely staying upright.
His armor was shattered, his body covered in cuts and gashes, and a brutal claw mark stretched across his chest. His breathing was ragged, each inhale painful.
While Raven frantically poured her remaining healing potions onto the injured knights, she shouted urgently at Kristoff.
"I need more healing potions!"
Kristoff and the other seniors, also tending to the wounded, quickly checked their supplies.
"I’m out! I’ve got nothing left!" one said.
"Same here!" another shouted back.
Raven continued to help but gritted her teeth in frustration as she comforted a female knight who was lying on the ground in pain.
Just then, she heard footsteps approaching, causing her back to shiver in fear. This kind of reaction from her body meant that the boss was near.
Turning around, she saw Eren walking toward her with the same lazy, stoic face.
Just as she thought he would say or do something weird to her, he threw something toward her.
The item landed in her hands, and she saw it was a healing potion, but the color was different from the usual red. It was yellow, like gold.
"Use it on her," he said in a lazy tone before walking toward the other knights.
Looking at the potion, Raven quickly poured it on the knight’s wounds without hesitation and waited. Then, something shocking happened before her eyes. The female knight’s wounds began healing rapidly as her skin and flesh regenerated quickly. freewebnoveℓ.com
"This...?" Raven’s eyes widened as she looked at the potion in her hand. She quickly understood, that it was a high-tier healing potion.
An Elixir.
This kind of thing cost around 10,000 KE.
’Maybe I should keep it,’ she thought, staring at the bottle that still had half of its yellow liquid.
As her greedy thoughts of keeping it grew, Raven suddenly felt a cold gaze coming from Eren from behind, making her tremble in fear. She let out an awkward laugh before hurriedly attending to the other knights, using the Elixir to heal them.
Eren took more Elixirs from his spatial ring and gave them to Kristoff and the others to heal the rest of the injured knights.
The knights were shocked to learn it was an Elixir, and that the young master was using them freely to heal them.
Some of them trembled in respectful tears toward the young master as he ordered them to use it without hesitation.
Those Elixirs were originally given to him by his mother. But since he had hundreds of them stored in his ring, he didn’t care about giving them away. The reason was simple, he didn’t want to be late when they headed back, as they might need to carry some of the wounded.
As the knights were being treated, Eren looked toward Leon, who was still kneeling on the ground before the Thundercalw. Despite the monster receiving many injuries and being exhausted after going berserk, it could still fight without a problem.
Seeing that he had no other choice, Leon took out the golden magic scroll from his spatial ring and activated it.
Noticing that the human was planning to do something, the monster jumped toward him, raising its claws to slash. But Leon quickly leapt to the side, rolling on the ground as he opened his right hand and aimed at the monster, with a golden magic circle floating over the back of his hand.
"Sacred Net!"
Leon shouted the activation, shooting a yellow beam toward the monster as it tried to dodge. But the beam transformed into a wide golden net that fell on top of the monster, binding it so it couldn’t move.
The net then shrank as it wrapped around the Thundercalw’s entire body while it screamed.
–ROOOOOOAR!
...
Seeing that the monster was now bound by the spell, Eren and Kristoff stepped into the dome, approaching the exhausted Leon.
"Is it over?"
Kristoff asked as he knelt down beside Leon, who was panting heavily on the ground. Meanwhile, Eren walked toward the Thunderclaw, which was still growling in rage.
Two senior knights also entered the dome, moving toward Leon, while Raven made her way toward the trapped monster.
Leon, meanwhile, was resting, drinking a healing potion that Kristoff had handed him.
"You good, man?" his senior asked him as he finished gulping down the potion. His wounds, especially the nasty one in his chest, began to heal slowly, the magic working through his battered body.
"I’m fine," Leon answered, his voice heavy with exhaustion.
"Why didn’t you use the scroll earlier?" Kristoff asked, frowning with confusion.
Moments ago, when the Thundercalw had taken down almost all the knights, leaving only Leon standing, Kristoff and the other senior knights had been about to rush to help him. But Leon had shouted at them to stay back, insisting he wanted to take down the monster alone.
Even when Kristoff told him to use the magic scroll, Leon stubbornly refused, continuing to battle the beast by himself.
The Knight raised his eyes for a brief second but quickly lowered them again, falling into silence without answering.
His seniors understood well enough. Leon wanted to defeat the Thundercalw by himself—to make a new achievement and earn valuable EXP to level up. And he could feel it, as some of his stats had already maxed out, and he was just one step away from breaking through.
Meanwhile, Eren stood before the bound level 5 monster, observing it closely as it struggled, groaning in frustration.
Turning his head slightly to glance at Raven, who was approaching carefully, he asked stoically,
"Can you tame it?"
Raven flinched when Eren’s half-lidded gaze fell on her, but she coughed awkwardly and quickly composed herself, trying to hide her nervousness.
"I can’t," she replied, looking at the Thundercalw with a serious face. "The monster is too strong."
Eren’s lazy eyes narrowed in annoyance.
"Try taming it first, MILK," he ordered coldly.
Hearing her boss’s annoyed tone, Raven flinched again and hurriedly obeyed. She approached the monster cautiously, raised her hand toward it, and activated her "Monster Taming" skill. Her blue eyes glowed faintly with magical light.
But almost immediately, something went wrong.
—Zzzk!
She winced in pain, closing her eyes and clutching her head as she groaned. The connection she tried to form with the monster was instantly severed, leaving behind a sharp ache.
"It’s not working," Raven said, massaging her temple. "Its mind resistance is too high."
Seeing her reaction, Eren casually asked the system in his mind,
’Useless, can you check and verify the monster condition for me?’
[I can, Master,] Useless responded promptly.
[Beginning scanning...]
[Target: Thundercalw.]
[Notice: The System’s Rank is low.]
[Master, permission to use SP?]
’Granted,’ Eren replied without hesitation.
[Using SP to check the target’s condition.]
[830 SP has been used!]
A new green holographic panel appeared before his eyes.
---
Target: Thundercalw
Condition:
State – Injured, bleeding, weakened, exhausted, highly alert, overloaded.
Mind – Fully alarmed, wary, strong (for now).
---
[It seems that the monster’s heightened alertness has temporarily strengthened its mental resistance after the intense battle,] Useless explained.
[However, it will gradually weaken as it continues to bleed and exhaust itself.]
’How long will that take?’ Eren asked.
[Approximately 10 to 14 minutes,] the system replied.
Eren’s eyes narrowed in thought. The "Sacred Net" spell had a total duration of only five minutes—and two of those minutes had already passed.
’Should I buy another scroll?’ he considered, but then another idea struck him.
’What if I use a sleeping drug? Or something to weaken its mind? Would that work?’ he asked the system.
The system went silent for a moment before responding.
[It is possible, Master. However, you would need to use a large amount of strong drugs. Otherwise, the monster would build resistance instead.]
Eren eyes turn dull in annoyance.
Just as he was about to start buying a stack of sleeping agents, he suddenly remembered—he had a unique skill that might help, "Lazy King."
If he simply injected the beast with a ton of different drugs and waited, there was a chance his skill would passively increase the success rate. It was worth a try.
But just as he was about to act, a commotion erupted behind him.
"You need to rest!" Kristoff’s voice rang out.
Eren turned around lazily, seeing the senior knights trying to stop Leon, who was struggling to get to his feet. Kristoff was supporting him, but Leon stubbornly pushed against his grip.
"What’s the problem?" Eren asked, his cold, lazy gaze sweeping over them as we approach them.
"It’s nothing, young master, my junior is just—" Kristoff started to explain, but Leon cut him off, his voice loud and determined.
"Master Eren! Please let me fight the it one more time!"
Both Eren and Raven blinked in surprise, staring at Leon as if he had lost his mind.
Leon’s current condition was terrible. Even though his wounds were healing thanks to the potion, his body was clearly at its limit from the brutal fight. Yet here he was, trying to push himself again.
The reason for Leon’s stubbornness was simple—he needed this fight. He had to defeat the level 5 monster by himself and claim victory, so he could achieve a feat worthy of leveling up.
’Useless. What about knocking it out instead? Would that count?’ Eren asked in his mind again.
The system answered immediately.
[It is possible, but I do not recommend it. Raven’s Skill requires the target to remain conscious in order to be tamed.]
’So basically, we just have to beat the crap out of this piece of shit until its mind can’t handle it anymore,’ Eren thought grimly.
Useless, the system, trembled at its Master’s idea, already able to see the disturbing mental images Eren was imagining.
