The Scheming Ex-Husband's Courtship-Chapter 9 - Did You Enter the Wrong Room?
Chapter 9: Chapter 9 Did You Enter the Wrong Room?
Coming here was a sudden decision, so she didn't bring any change of clothes. She got car sick and vomited today; even now she still feels a strange odor lingering on her, and can't go to sleep without taking a bath.
There was only one white bath towel in the washroom, which she tried on for size. It just managed to wrap around her from the shoulders down. Besides, Mu Shuoqian was sleeping in the master bedroom, and she in the secondary bedroom, unconnected; naturally, she didn't need to worry about him suddenly paying a visit.
He probably wasn't interested in her. At least for the entire duration of their marriage, except for occasionally displaying affection in front of others, he hadn't touched her once. With a bitter smile, she thought that he probably disdained her.
After taking a bath, she made a phone call to her roommate, Mickey, to tell her she wouldn't return to the dormitory tonight.
"Staying out all night? That's not like you at all. Spill the beans, which handsome guy are you messing around with?" Mickey was relentless on the other end of the line, insisting on getting an answer.
Gu Qili slipped under the covers, the house newly renovated and even the quilt fresh and new, carrying the fresh scent of cotton.
"Stop gossiping, I didn't shut down my computer, please do it for me."
She half-covered herself with the quilt, taking a textbook in one hand while sandwiching her phone between her neck and shoulder.
"Qiqi, your bestie Hu Jiaojiao came looking for you. I asked her what it was about, but she hemmed and hawed without really saying."
Mentioning Hu Jiaojiao, Gu Qili's heart involuntarily gave a light tremble.
"I'll be back tomorrow morning."
The Level 8 exams in English and French were approaching, and she still had many words to memorize. Besides, she was nearing graduation and had to prepare her thesis, currently feeling a bit overwhelmed.
"Qiqi, yesterday I saw Hu Jiaojiao and Chen Yishu dining together in the cafeteria, looking quite intimate. Do you think she likes Chen Yishu?"
Just as Gu Qili was about to answer, she heard the sound of the door opening. Startled, she immediately hung up the phone with a sense of panic and turned to look at the door.
Mu Shuoqian, having just taken a bath, wore a light blue bathrobe, the waistband casually tied, making hardly any difference, leaving much of his chest exposed, the tan, strong muscles there, intensely alluring and his evenly distributed chocolate abs toned without looking too bulky, the perfect balance between firmness and flexibility.
A white towel was draped over his head, nearly covering half of his face, his eyes focused on the phone in his hand as he walked towards her.
Gu Qili was so shocked she was at a loss for words.
"Mu Shuoqian." She couldn't help calling out to him, her voice trembling.
What is he trying to do?
Mu Shuoqian stopped in his tracks, pulled the towel from his head, and as he saw her, a fleeting glimpse of perplexity flashed across his eyes.
She only had a towel wrapped around her, delicate arms braced either side, revealing shoulders white as jade, and a faint hint of spring could be seen at the front of her chest.
"Did you walk into the wrong room?" She watched his face intently, her throat dry with anxiety, regretting she hadn't locked the door earlier.
He ended the phone call, his expression instantly cold again, but his gaze held a burning intensity.
Realizing his unusual stare, Gu Qili remembered to cover up. She quickly pushed her legs beneath the quilt, drawing it over herself and only leaving her head out, like a timid turtle.
"Yes, it was the wrong room." He snorted, then turned to leave, as if staying any longer was disagreeable.
Although the master and guest bedrooms were adjacent, the only possibility for walking into the wrong room in one's own house would be if his head was caught in a door. What kind of door would dare catch Mu Shuoqian?
If it wasn't because of being caught in a door, then it must have been intentional, but Gu Qili couldn't fathom the reason for his action. To peek at her? Was this something Mu Shuoqian would do?
Actually, what kind of person Mu Shuoqian really was, she didn't understand; her knowledge of him was limited to the few meaningless numbers on their marriage certificate.
Mu Shuoqian paused at the door once more.

"I have a flight at five o'clock, and I haven't packed yet."
"..."
"Go and pack." After saying that, without caring whether she agreed or not, he continued on with his phone call and left.
