The Scheming Ex-Husband's Courtship-Chapter 678 - 586 This is Very Heavy_2
He walked around to the rear door and opened it himself, smiling at the person sitting inside as he said something.
Zhuo Yuqing, arm in arm with him, stepped out with a gentle smile on her face.
Zhuo Yuqing was six months pregnant, and beneath her white chiffon dress, a slight bulge was visible; she and Bai Chengxi made a handsome couple, pleasing to the eye.
Nan Zhan introduced Jian Si, who promptly shook hands with Mr. and Mrs. Bai: "Welcome, welcome."
It was Bai Chengxi’s first time meeting Jian Si, who was dressed in a blue long dress, since the banquet hadn’t formally started—elegant and beautiful.
Bai Chengxi laughed: "Lawyer Nan is doubly blessed, with a son and now a beautiful wife."
Nan Zhan: "You’re the same."
Bai Chengxi laughed heartily, winked, and whispered quietly: "You sure started early, huh."
Nan Zhan corrected: "Wrong, she was already eighteen then."
Bai Chengxi twitched the corners of his mouth: "Eighteen is still young enough to act on, not much different than a beast."
Meanwhile, Jian Si and Zhuo Yuqing were having a great conversation, with Zhuo Yuqing asking her for advice on raising children.
Bai Chengxi hugged his wife, "Whenever Yuqing sees a child, she has a million questions. By the way, where’s the little birthday boy?"
"Not sure, probably by the artificial lake at the back." Nan Zhan asked them to go inside first. "It’s his first time here, and he’s curious about everything."
Zhengzheng stood by the giant artificial lake, pushing a small wooden boat into the water.
He watched the little boat slowly drift towards the center of the lake, then walked back with his hands in his pockets.
It would be nice if there was a real boat.
Not far away, he saw workers setting up the birthday venue on the lawn, erecting structures and moving tables, with some life-sized Transformers next to the site.
A look of surprise appeared on Zhengzheng’s face.
He ran up to one of the Transformers, looked up at his idol, Optimus Prime.
"So lifelike," Zhengzheng said, only for Optimus Prime to suddenly move. He was startled, thinking it was a robot, but then the faceplate lifted to reveal a worker’s face: "Hi."
Turns out, there was a person inside.
Zhengzheng sighed; if only it were a real Transformer.
The venue was starting to take shape, while Nan Zhan and Jian Si still stood at the entrance to greet guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Bai had already entered the villa to rest, and the Maybach that pulled up must naturally be Mu Shuoqian’s favorite.
The Mu Family was a party of three: Mu Shuoqian, Gu Qili, and their son Mu Qinian.
The family all wore black: Mu Shuoqian in a black suit with a striped tie, Gu Qili in a black off-shoulder silk dress with her black hair tied up elegantly, revealing a porcelain neck, and the little gentleman Mu Qinian dressed in a black suit just like his dad’s. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
When Nan Zhan saw them, he smiled.
The family always attracted attention, with their dashing looks: handsome father, beautiful mother, and cool son, they stole the spotlight wherever they went.
By now, the curious Zhengzheng had returned to his parents’ side, greeting guests with them as a little gentleman.
"Welcome, President Mu and Mrs. Mu." Nan Zhan opened his arms for a brief hug with Mu Shuoqian, while Jian Si and Gu Qili also embraced each other.
Mu Qinian looked at Zhengzheng, and Zhengzheng looked back at Mu Qinian.
Almost in unison, they said: "Hello, little brother."
Gu Qili laughed: "Niannian, this is Zhengzheng, your brother, not your little brother."
They were similar in age, and by their appearances, it was hard to tell who was older, which is why Mu Qinian had made the mistake.
Gu Qili was curious and bent down to look at Zhengzheng: "Zhengzheng, how did you know he was the little brother?"
The little fellow’s expression just now was very certain, not at all convinced that he could be wrong.
Zhengzheng explained: "Little brother has the Yingzhi Kindergarten school badge on his clothes, and I’m about to start first grade at elementary school, so, I must be older."
Gu Qili was even more astonished: "Zhengzheng also went to Yingzhi Kindergarten?"
Zhengzheng shook his head: "Our teacher’s nephew is from Yingzhi Kindergarten. He came to our school to play once, and I saw it."
Gu Qili: "..."
At such a young age, having such sharp observation and memory skills surprised her, even the typically aloof and undemonstrative Mu Shuoqian took another look at him.
Jian Si suggested: "Zhengzheng, why don’t you take Qini to play?"
"Sure."
Until then, Qini hadn’t much impression of this big brother, but when Zhengzheng guessed his school right away, the little guy instantly idolized him and happily trotted off behind Zhengzheng.
As Gu Qili watched them leave, she commented with a smile: "Jian Si, Zhengzheng is quite the little prodigy."
Jian Si waved off the comment: "He just likes reading these detective books, takes after his dad."
Nan Zhan said: "Yeah, thankfully he takes after me, not stupid."
Jian Si gave him a glare, he raised an eyebrow, flaunting a triumphant smile.
Once the two had entered, Jian Si looked at Mu Shuoqian’s retreating figure and commented: "Mr. Mu is so reserved and rarely smiles."
Throughout, he seemed to have hardly spoken a word; it was always Gu Qili speaking, and though he was silent, his eyes were always tenderly watching his wife, as if she was the only one in his eyes. His adoration was clearly evident, unhidden.
Jian Si thought that Nan Zhan was cold enough on a normal day, but she hadn’t expected Mu Shuoqian to be even colder, like a block of ice that chills you before you’ve even come near.
"Don’t mind him, that’s just how he is. Also, he has an allergy to women."
"What do you mean, ’allergy to women’?" Jian Si was intensely curious about this legendary figure.
Nan Zhan glanced in the direction Mu Shuoqian had left and whispered: "It means that apart from his wife, any physical contact with other women makes him nauseous and sick, including his mother."
Jian Si was stunned; she couldn’t believe such a bizarre condition existed in the world.
Suddenly looking at the schadenfreude-smirking Nan Zhan, she mused: "Is this condition contagious? Maybe you should catch it too?"
