Chapter 416: Heirloom

It was the weekend and the week went by smoothly. The children had established a daily routine and swiftly got used to waking up early to go to school. The same goes for Elsa and Chris who go to work together.

Chris and Elandir would call Ambros daily to get some advice on how to run their hospital properly, and they had already made plans to do business together.

Chris woke up early even though it was a Saturday to prepare breakfast for his family.

"I was wondering where you went. Then I smelled coffee," Elsa uttered as she approached Chris in the kitchen.

"Well, since our helpers are not here on weekends, someone should do the cooking. And today, I am in the mood for some bacon and pancakes," Chris responded.

"Be sure you make it delicious!" Elsa teased. "I’ll get some fresh strawberries in the garden, the kids love it. Heat some chocolate drink for the kids while I’m picking the strawberries."

Chris nodded, but before Elsa could go to the garden, the doorbell rang and she immediately checked their gate’s camera to see who was it early in the morning.

She pressed the open button and ran excitedly to the door upon seeing who was at their front gate.

"Dad!" Elsa exclaimed and hugged Ambros so tight that he coughed.

"Whoa! What did I do to deserve such a warm welcome?" Ambros asked happily.

"Don’t move, let’s just stay like this for a moment. I can’t believe my brain didn’t remind me that you are my real father. I am sorry Dad, I love you so much and I am so happy that my memories are back."

She then playfully hit her father’s arm, catching Ambros by surprise. "You should have at least told me you were my real father, even though I had lost my memories. That was so mean!"

Ambros chuckled. "Does it really matter? Even when you thought I wasn’t related to you, you didn’t treat me any differently. You still made me feel like I was your real father. That’s why I didn’t bother to clear things up—it wouldn’t have made a difference," he explained.

Elsa hugged him again. "Still, you should have told me. Maybe it would have triggered my memories to come back sooner."

"Well, I am glad that everything is back to normal now."

"Yeah, except that Mom cannot be with us. Even though I have a good life here, I can’t help but imagine what would my life be like if we lived in Vectus. But then, I am just happy that I am alive and my family is with me."

"That’s right, be thankful for what you have. Life can’t be perfect all the time."

"By the way, what are you doing here so early? I thought you would leave Santa Fe before lunch."

"Chris didn’t tell you?"

Elsa looked at Chris who was smiling back at her.

"Since he missed the barbecue party that we had last time. I decided to book a private resort for us this weekend. I also invited Elandir and Marina if you don’t mind so we could all have fun," Chris explained.

"Wow, Love, that is so sweet of you!" Elsa said.

"Go and wake up the kids, breakfast is ready," Chris requested.

"Shoot! I still need to pick the strawberries!"

"Go and do that, I will wake up the children. I am sure they will be happy to see Grandpa the moment they open their eyes."

Elsa nodded before heading to their backyard.

"Were you able to do it?" Chris asked Ambros the moment Elsa closed the back door.

"Yes, I have. I’ll give it to you later, just to make sure you will forget it somewhere or perhaps lose it due to too much nervousness," Ambros quipped making Chris chuckle.

"Hey, how did you know that I am nervous?"

"Because I would if I were in your situation," Ambros expressed before walking away.

They arrived at the resort at exactly lunchtime and were welcomed with a feast that Chris had ordered.

"Wow, Chris, this is impressive. Where did you find this place?" Marina asked while looking around.

"I asked around. What I like about it is that they have heated pools so the children can still swim at night and we can order food so we don’t have to cook anything. All we have to do is enjoy and relax," Chris said.

"Daddy, Mommy! Can we swim already?" Rocco asked.

"You can after we eat. Let’s change first so you can go after," Elsa uttered.

"Yehey!" the children exclaimed and ran straight to the villa.

"I’ll be back," Elsa told Chris and Ambros.

"I will help you, I miss my babies, I have been busy with work the whole week."

Marina offered and went with Elsa.

Ambros reached into his pocket and gave Chris a small box. "Here, don’t lose it."

Chris took it and gently opened the box.

"Oh! Wow! How did you get this?" Elandir asked upon seeing the item inside.

"I gave it to Ambros before they crossed the portal. I didn’t know it would come in handy now. He was supposed to pass it down to Rocco someday but perhaps it was really meant for me to use it first. And personally pass it down to him someday," Chris revealed.

Elandir patted Chris’ shoulder. "Good luck man, even though you don’t need it."

When the kids and the ladies returned, they quickly jumped into dining. The resort was a four-hour drive away from the city and the journey alone made everyone hungry.

When the kids and the ladies returned, they quickly jumped into dining. The resort was a four-hour drive away from the city, and the journey alone made everyone hungry. They enjoyed the feast, with laughter and conversation filling the air. The children were eager to swim, and the adults were excited to relax and unwind.

After lunch, Chris stood up and cleared his throat. "Everyone, I have something important to say." He turned to Elsa, his eyes full of love and anticipation. "Elsa, can you come here for a moment?"

Elsa curiously walked over to Chris. "What’s going on?" she asked with a smile playing on her lips.

Chris took a deep breath and then got down on one knee, holding out the small box Ambros had given him. "Elsa, you are my strength, my best friend, and the love of my life. After all we’ve been through I am still nervous here in front of you. I can’t imagine my life without you by my side. Will you marry me?"

Elsa gasped, her eyes welling up with tears of joy. She looked around at their friends and family, all of whom were watching with bated breath. Then she looked back at Chris, her heart overflowing with love. "Have you forgotten that I am still married to you and that wouldn’t change whichever world we are in. But of course, I will marry you as many times as you want! " she exclaimed.

Everyone erupted in cheers and applause as Chris slipped the ring onto Elsa’s finger and stood up to embrace her. They kissed, and the moment was perfect, surrounded by their loved ones in a beautiful place.

"Congratulations!" Marina shouted, rushing over to hug Elsa. "I’m so happy for you two!"

Elandir and Ambros also came over, congratulating the happy couple. The children, who had been watching in awe, began jumping up and down in excitement.

"Mommy and Daddy are getting married!" Rocco exclaimed, hugging his parents tightly.

"We will eat cakes again!" Rosey said.

"And ice cream!" Daisy added.

"I can’t believe you proposed," Elsa said, resting her head on Chris’s shoulder. "It was perfect."

Chris smiled, kissing the top of her head. "I wanted it to be special, just like you. Besides, we need to register our marriage in this world for the children’s benefit. So I thought, why just simply register it when we can make it grand and special, right?"

Elsa chuckled and uttered, "Right. Thank you for doing this. I can’t believe you made my father keep our wedding ring from Vectus."

"I had to. I told you before that it’s a family heirloom. We will give this to Rocco someday. Even though he can’t have my kingdom, he can at least have this. He is a Jorgensen after all."
