The Royal Mark-Chapter 334: Something Despicable
Elsa was furious upon hearing King Mordrak’s proposal. Fortunately, her medical training had honed her quick thinking and resilience, allowing her to devise a plan right away to save her husband without marrying the demon king.
"Fine, let’s do it on the sixth," she replied curtly.
She leaned back in her seat and picked up a glass of red wine. She sniffed it before taking a sip.
King Mordrak remained silent, observing her intently. He unconsciously licked and bit his lips, then raised his left hand to gently stroke his mouth, his eyes still fixed on her.
Noticing this, Elsa extended her wine glass toward him. "Would you like some?"
Mordrak shook his head and smirked, still not uttering a word.
"You didn’t put anything in my drink, did you? You look at me as if you are planning something behind my back. Perhaps tricking me into something that I don’t want to do. Just like how I got her," Elsa joked.
"Don’t worry, I didn’t. I want you to like me for who I am, not because of some potion or spell. You might think that demons have no heart and that we use just any method to get what we want in any way. Your abduction is Milda’s idea and I was not informed about it. It was just too late to back out when it happened.
However, I am not just any demon. I am different from them. I have my principles in life and I stay true to them. Demons are cunning, and so am I, but I want to work hard for something that my heart really wants."
"Ah, how noble... You have to try harder than that then. You could give me perhaps just part of the cure if you want to be on my good side," Elsa sarcastically smiled at the demon king, challenging him.
She wanted to know if what he was claiming was true and how far was he willing to go.
"You are testing me. And you know I won’t give in," Mordrak said.
Elsa scoffed mockingly, saying, "And you said you want to win me over but you are not doing anything for me to open up my heart to you. Chris is my mate and I love him. He is the father of my child, so it’s going to be hard for you to win me over without the help of potions and spells.
So my advice to you is to impress me, do what I want, and sweep me off my feet. If you cannot do at least that then I’m sorry to say that I will never open my heart to you. I will be a plain hostage in your kingdom forever but you will never take hold of my heart."
"We will see about that– Ehrm," King Mordrak was halted by the servants entering the dining hall with their food.
Elsa quickly put some food on her plate and quickly ate. She wanted to go back to her room and polish her plan of escape. She still has a lot of time before her imminent marriage to the demon king happens.
She must find a way to get the cure before that. The potion that she left Chris would not last that long so she must do something.
She’s also not sure if that temporary cure will be able to last until he reaches the sleeping mages. ’I hope those divine mages know how to completely remove the effect of the hecatolite so we don’t have to rely on this cunning king,’ she thought.
While in the middle of their meal, the dining hall’s door opened and revealed Milda in an elegant dress. Her face grace a beautiful smile but instantly changed into a scowl the moment she saw Elsa beside the demon king.
She went ahead and stood by the seat opposite Elsa and gave her a glare before facing the demon king.
"You Majesty, may I know why is she dining with us?" Milda asked and her question utterly confused Elsa.
"She is our guest, you should be nice to her," Mordrak replied without taking his eyes away from his food.
"You didn’t tell her? You promised me you would tell her as soon as she woke up." Milda sounded angry, causing Elsa to be curious about what was it about.
"Not now Milda..." King Mordrak uttered with a hint of warning fon his voice.
"Are you playing with me? Are you backing out now?" Milda pushed the demon king who finally dropped his fork on his plate to look at her.
"Milda, stop–"
Milda did not let the demon king finish and shouted, "NO! You said you will ma–"
*Cough, cough*
Elsa gasped and covered her mouth, stunned by what she saw. The demon king’s hand was suddenly around Milda’s neck. He was too fast and it seemed as if he teleported. His eyes turned black, and his hand morphed into a monstrous claw. He choked her, causing her to cough and gasp for breath.
’The king must have promised her something that’s against me, that’s why she’s being like that,’ Elsa said inwardly.
Milda continued gasping for breath and Elsa was fighting with herself if she would stop the demon king or not. In the end, she thought of her uncles and grandfather. They would be the first ones to get hurt if something bad happened to her.
She hastily ran to the two and gripped Mordrak’s arm to pull it away from Milda’s neck. But, he was too strong, and even though she used both her hands to remove his hand on her aunt’s neck, he didn’t even move an inch.
Else glanced at Milda’s face and she was really losing her breath, her face was so red and her lips were slowly turning purple.
"King Mordrak! Stop! You are killing her!" Elsa shouted while still trying to pull his hands but his focus was on Milda and seems like he was not hearing her.
Elsa closed her eyes and pursed her lips after thinking of something despicable. But she had no choice, she had made up her mind to save Milda for the sake of her family. So it was either she did what was on her mind or let her die at the hands of the demon king.
"Argh! Fuck this!" Elsa grunted before sealing the lips of King Mordrak with hers.
