The Royal Mark-Chapter 308: Desperation and Anger

It was already almost lunchtime when Chris and Elsa went out of their room, ready to head back to Rügengard Castle when the husband of the caretaker came running to them as they descended from the stairs.

"Your Majesties! Your Majesties!"

Elsa’s heart jumped at the frantic voice of the old man. She couldn’t explain it but she just had a bad feeling about it.

"Slow down," Chris said as he gently grabbed the shoulder of the panting old man. "Tell us what’s wrong."

"The royal guards are outside they are ready to take you to the port and–"

"Chris, Elsa, let’s go! We need to go back to Arcanis right now. Milda and Rocco are missing and there was a sighting of demons near the castle at dawn. Rylie got injured, someone knocked her out while she was putting Rocco to sleep when the royal family was having dinner last night," Baahu said, and gestured for the two to follow him.

Before they could take a step, Elsa fainted and Chris caught her in time. He carried her and they all went straight to the horses waiting for them outside.

"How is Rylie? Did she see who attacked her?" Chris asked after mounting his horse together with Elsa on his shoulder and placing her in front of him.

"She’s fine now, Madam Valeria healed her but it was already morning when Kaizer found her and discovered that Rocco was missing. Kaizer was on patrol last night, so it was only when he went back to their room that he found out.

We quickly searched the castle and also found out that Princess Milda was missing. There were broken vases and glasses in the room near Rocco’s nursery, a sign that she tried to fight whoever took her. We suspected that she was on her way to the nursery and saw that the prince was being taken away. There are also missing items that the former Queen Irina had given the princess plus the notebook that she wrote while she was in Saldivar. Your Elite Alphas together with Drake went ahead to Arcanis, to prepare for battle against Kurzen. They will wait for you there," Baahu stated.

Chris sighed before trying to wake Elsa up, "Elsa, please wake up. I need you, our son needs you."

After a pat on her cheek, Elsa opened her eyes and burst into tears. Chris did not wait for her to calm down and signaled everyone to move out and head to the port.

Elsa remained silent, deep in thought after calming down. Upon arriving at the port, she unfurled her wings, leaving everyone in awe as they watched her fly to the ship.

The royal guards assisted in transferring their belongings from the carriage to the ship, while Baahu, Kaizer, and Dasher, along with some mages, transported the weapons King Allister had given them.

On the main deck, Elsa saw Arla, Rylie, and her grandmother Valeria waiting for them.

Her grandmother quickly embraced her, apologizing through her tears. "Please forgive me. I should not have let Rocco stay with Rylie. Rylie got injured because of me, and Rocco is..." She broke down, unable to finish.

"It’s not your fault. I understand why you did that. Rocco is more comfortable with Rylie because he knows her. Don’t worry, I will bring my son back," Elsa declared, her voice filled with seething anger.

Rylie moved closer and gave her a small book, "Lexi gave this to me. She went with the Elite Alphas and Drake."

Elsa hastily took it and gave it to Valeria. "Grandma, I need you to do me a favor. Go to my mom and give this to her. Chris’ is still not cured of the hecatolite and I need her help."

Valeria nodded before bidding farewell to each other.

"Elsa," King Allister called out.

When Elsa released Valeria from her arms she saw Chris together with her grandfather and Andrius.

"I will pass on the crown to Andrius tomorrow so he can have the power to do anything that he needs to without my permission. I am too old to go to another war. Zemaria will support you in whatever way you need.

Please do not hesitate to ask for anything. Rocco is still a prince in Zemaria and we will not stop until we get him back!" King Allister exclaimed.

"Thank you, Grandpa. I know that you really want to marry Grandma. I ask her to give the archmage’s book to my mom. Please don’t wait for me to return any more to marry her. I will visit you two once I get Rocco back."

King Allister nodded and cupped Elsa’s face before kissing her forehead. "Be careful my dear. You are my kin and you are precious to me. I’ll look forward to your return."

Their ship sailed as soon as King Allister together with Andrius and Valeria got off. Elsa, Rylie, and Dasher used their water and air magic to make the ship sail faster.

Elsa’s eyes were glowing as she let out the maximum power that she could use to make sure that would reach Arcanis in no time.

At the same time, Chris was on the lower deck with Baahu and Arla as they informed him of the details of what happened and what plan they had in mind.

"I am thinking why the demons took Milda as well," Chris questioned Baahu and Arla.

"That was our question as well before we saw the missing things in her room. Probably the demons knew that she was the only one who could read Irina’s notes. There must be something in that note that the demon could use for them to take interest," Arla explained.

Chris ran his hands on his face several times due to frustration. "Arla, I will lead the search for my son and I know that you want to start a family with Drake. But allow me to ask you a favor and stay with Elsa while me and Drake are away.

She trusts and listens to you. I am afraid that she will lose her self-control soon and attack Kurzen on her own. She might be a half-seraphim but she’s not aware of how powerful the demon king is."

Chris could feel the desperation and anger that Elsa was feeling right now. He could only hope that Elsa would stay calm and her judgment would not be clouded by her emotions and motherly instinct to run and save Rocco regardless of the danger.
