The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance-Chapter 20: Rescued
Chapter 20 - Rescued
Violet desperately ran, trying to get rid of the werewolves behind her. When she thought she was being seamless, she already attracted the attention of the werewolves nearby.
As she went deeper into the dense forest, she hoped she would be masked. Sweat gathered on her forehead, and her lungs burned, pleading her to give them some break.
However, that wasn't an option for Violet.
A yelp left her mouth when Violet's shoulder was grabbed by a werewolf, and she was pushed against the tree trunk harshly. She almost felt her back snap in half.
A werewolf stared at her viciously.
Violet struggled, but she remained helpless against the strong hold. When the werewolf was about to attack her, she heard someone call.
"Watch out, Luna."
Then, she saw Jason leap forward and transform into his werewolf form. As Violet moved backwards instinctively, Jason attacked the werewolf holding her captive. She watched as Jason violently tore the neck off the werewolf.
Violet was surprised to have him protect her.
Sensing the presence of more nearby wolves, Jason growled, indicating Violet to run away.
"I can't leave you alone here," Violet stated. The last time she selfishly ran away, Emma lost her life. She couldn't have anyone sacrifice their lives for her again.
However, Jason's temper was strong as he pushed Emma with his paw. His growl was louder, showing his dissatisfaction towards Violet's uncooperative attitude.
Two werewolves then appeared, about to attack Violet from behind. However, Jason with his quick reflexes was able to prevent them from touching Violet. As he was fending off one, the other werewolf was about to attack Violet.
Violet frantically looked around for something that would be able to help her.
However, unable to find anything, Violet was pushed to the ground by the werewolf. His claw tore off the skin on her shoulder, leaving behind a burning and bleeding wound. Before he was able to make another move on her, Jason came to her rescue and held him back.
He loudly growled at her again.
Violet understood that she would be nothing more than a burden if she insisted on staying. Her feet stumbled as she stood up, and with one last glance at Jason, she grabbed her bleeding shoulder while scurrying off.
Her head felt dizzy, and tears gathered in her eyes. More than herself, she was scared for Jason. She hoped that he will be able to run away in time without losing his life.
Once again, she hated herself for being powerless. If only she had more strength in herself, no one needed to suffer in her steed.
She was supposed to be the one protecting everyone with the Alpha blood running through her.

Sylas was working through the documents on his desk when his chest clenched tightly. The raw distress Violet felt was transmitted to him. After a long time did his heart beat with such strong resentment, helplessness, and sadness.
His senses tingled, knowing Violet was in danger and urging him to rescue her.
However, Sylas resisted, determined to remain unaffected. He wasn't willing to acknowledge re bond between them.
He closed his eyes and hardened his heart.
Once she was gone, his world will continue to be peaceful again.
"Julia," Sylas whispered, staring at the woman in the photograph. The shadows of the past were heavy on him, making him even more indifferent.
He closed his eyes, letting the memories float before him. That's when, Sylas felt disrupted by the discomfort in his chest. It continued to worsen.

The wolf inside him begged for a release, so that it can follow its instincts to go find Violet and save her.
Sylas heard the knocks on his door.
When he answered positively, the door opened, and Lydia stepped inside. She observed Sylas's state for a second.
She then said, "Lucas wasn't able to find her. With all the wolves out looking for her, her scent weakened, and it is not easy to track her."
Sylas frowned. "Why are you letting me know this?"
"Alpha, you know where she is right?" asked Lydia.
Sylas furrowed his brows.
Lydia's eyes fell on the photograph on his table. There remained no signs of the man in the photograph on the current Alpha. If it weren't for how they looked the same, one would think they were two different individuals.
"I know that you want to remain indifferent to the matters of the world and have nothing affect you. But how do you think Luna Julia would have felt about it? You are letting an innocent girl die just because you think she would affect you. She would be disappointed," Lydia boldly said.
Sylas's eyes flashed, indicating how he was on the verge of losing control. But maintaining his calm voice, he said, "She decided to leave."
"You wanted her to leave, Alpha," Lydia expressed, "it doesn't suit you to be such a coward. Maybe you need to—"
Before Lydia could carry on, her eyes widened at the pen shot in her direction. It pinned to the wall beside her.
Although Sylas looked composed from the front, she understood that the man was agitated.
"Leave," he ordered coldly.
Lydia sighed. "I hope you will be able to make a wise decision, Alpha. Everyone decided to follow you because they trusted you. And we all want the best for you."
With that, Lydia was out of the door.
Sylas ran his hand through his hair, and a groan left his mouth. "Fuck."

Violet's feet tangled with vine, and she fell down. The bunch of werewolves chasing after her closed in on her. As anxiety gripped her chest tightly, making her feel sick to her stomach, Violet understood that there was no way out of this for her.
Exhausted of running away, she was willing to give up when she heard a loud growl behind her.
Violet turned her head to find a large, black familiar wolf stand in front of her to protect her. The wolf fought bravely and efficiently, warding off those who tried to attack her.
Shocked, Violet couldn't believe that Sylas stood before her, defending her from all the incoming werewolves. She got up from the ground and grabbed a sturdy tree branch, willing to attack anyone that got close to her.
But Sylas hardly allowed an opportunity for that. His wolf was strong and mighty, easily being able to counter the numerous violent wolves.
Sylas's attacks were sharp yet elegant and neat. There was something mesmerizing about it.
Violet's eyes narrowed when she noticed the werewolf about to attack Sylas from behind. Without a second thought, her adrenaline drive made her rush forward, and she slashed against the neck of the wolf using the sharp edge of the branch in her hand.
The blood splattered on her face as the body collapsed on the ground.
She killed someone.
The realization settled into her.
Sylas turned back to find the horrified expression on the Violet's face.
"I killed someone," she mumbled.
The next instant, her eyes closed as her body fell backwards. But before she could touch the ground, Sylas's hand extended and held her.
