The Rise Of Third Rate Villain-Chapter 18 - The Contract of No Return
Chapter 18: Chapter 18 The Contract of No Return
The carriage was for a moment (around three seconds) then Mabel's voice, sharp as a knife, broke the stillness.
"Are you working with The Information Guild?" Her eyes were wide with shock, the suspicion written all over her face.
I raised an eyebrow. To be frank, a prince like me would never collaborate with such piece of shit people's.
Mabel folded her arms, her eyes narrowing even further. "Then how the hell do you know that I'm looking for a cure for a certain disease?"
"Does it even matter? I leaned back, crossing my legs casually.
"Obviously, it fucking matters, dumbass! Mabel snapped, throwing her hands in the air. If you have an idea of that illness, then you have an idea of my little sister, right?"

I smirked. "Of course. I told you—I know everything. Nothing would I do but also have my life to save her," I announced in a dramatic fashion. That's what I'm proposing to you, a [Deal] you can't refuse."
Mabel's eyes glinted dangerously as she leaned closer. "A deal, huh? What if I just kidnap you and torture you every day until you tell me the cure?"
For that nanosecond the air in the carriage cooled.
Ding! [Killing Instinct Activated]
I chuckled darkly, locking eyes with her. "Mabel well, look like I have technically, not gone around and properly introduced myself, have I?" I shifted forward, smile gone from my lips. "I'm Valerian Thorne. The one and only heir of the Thorne family."
The moment the words left my mouth, Mabel froze. Her breathing hitched. Her eyes flickered with something that could only be described as pure, primal fear.
Oh no,Not because of me.....It was because of one man.
Duke Aldric Thorne.
The King of Death.
Her lips trembled. She wanted to speak, but only fragments of speech ensued. "Y-You... You're the son of... him?"
"Why would I lie to someone like you? I said, leaning back again.
Mabel's thoughts were loud enough to practically hear. I'm fucked. I'm so, so fucked. (Spoiler:pretty damn fast)
Her head fell as she bent down, voice shaky. "I don't know why you're helping me, but... please. Help my little sister. I'll do anything. Anything! I'll even give you my virginity or— She hesitated before adding, —be your pleasure slave for the rest of my life."
I blinked. Wait... what?
Didn't you just go on to condemn me just a few seconds ago? Did listening to my family name activate a button in her brain? Or is she just deeply concerned about her sister?
"protect me." I paused. "And just for the record, I'm not into harems. I'm a one-woman guy."
Mabel looked up, confused. "Then... why are you helping me?"
I nearly facepalmed. "Are you literally dumb? I've already told you! I want you to protect me! Nothing else!"
Her face turned a little red. "I-I'm sorry... I'll protect you, even if it costs me my life. But... I want something from you too."
I raised an eyebrow. "What's that?"
"A [Mana Contract]," Mabel said, her voice steady. "Okay, and if we are to do this, we seal it with a pact."
A grin spread across my face. "Hah! I was literally going to suggest the same thing. Looks like we're on the same page. I leaned closer. "But remember, in this contract, I'll be the one with the advantage. You'll have to accept all my terms."
Mabel nodded without hesitation. "No matter what it takes to save my little sister, I'll take it—even if it's to lose my life."
We reached out to each other's arm, and each of us, and the air between us, shot with power. Mana went between us, moving from my hand to hers, binding a tie around our two hearts.
I began stating the terms:
"You will protect me at all costs, even if it means sacrificing your life. You can never betray me. You cannot disobey my direct orders. I am your ultimate master until death."
In return, Mabel declared:
"You will help me cure my little sister's disease. If one of us commits a breach of the terms, heart will rupture instantly.
Mana all around us lit up, binding the contract in a blue glow. The moment the last word was spoken, the bond locked into place, an unbreakable chain binding our fates.
I looked at Mabel, smirking. "Guess you're stuck with me now."
Mabel grinned wryly and its burned, unsettled determination. "Guess I am... Master."
