The Revenge of the Reborn Supreme Sovereign-Chapter 76 - 75: Slaughter That Thing!
SWOOSH.
In the passenger seat, Qin Fan sat up. Ma Yunbin, who had been deep in thought, immediately called out, "Lord Qin!"
"What time is it?" Qin Fan asked, yawning.
"10:37! Is something wrong, Lord Qin?" Ma Yunbin replied.
"Mm, it’s about time. Let’s go!" Sitting up straight, Qin Fan pulled open the car door and stepped out.
Go? It’s only just after ten! There are still nearly ten hours left until the Chen Hour!
"Lord Qin, Lord Qin, it’s only half past ten!" Ma Yunbin scrambled out of the car, baffled.
"It’s time! No more nonsense. Follow me if you want to see the Jiao Dragon! You still have that Life-saving Talisman on you, right?" Qin Fan said flatly, his voice devoid of emotion.
"It’s on me, it’s on me!" Ma Yunbin patted his pocket, his throat suddenly dry.
At this moment, the feeling wasn’t excitement anymore. It was fear. The Magicians’ plan was to make their move at the Chen Hour, but Qin Fan was setting off now. His intention to act alone was painfully clear.
Two people, going to see a Jiao Dragon? Even Ma Yunbin, who had always possessed an adventurous spirit, felt his calves trembling. This was a Jiao Dragon that could kill with its very breath! He only felt this much fear because he didn’t know Qin Fan’s true intention was to kill the Jiao Dragon. How shocked would he be if he knew?
"Lord Qin, just the two of us... going to see the Jiao Dragon?" With his calves trembling slightly, Ma Yunbin trailed behind Qin Fan, swallowing hard as he asked in a quavering voice. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"I’ll take you to have a look, then you better scram!" Facing the increasingly chilly sea breeze, Qin Fan strolled with his hands in his pockets, speaking casually over his shoulder.
"And what about you, Lord Qin?" Ma Yunbin blurted out instinctively.
"Me? I’m going to slaughter that thing!" Qin Fan snorted, his sharp arrogance on full display.
Slaughter... slaughter that thing? Slay a Jiao Dragon all by himself? This... is he fucking joking? Ma Yunbin was so stunned he almost cursed out loud.
THUD.
Just as Qin Fan’s words fell, Ma Yunbin’s trembling legs gave out and he stumbled to the ground.
"What’s wrong with you?" Hearing the noise, Qin Fan turned around. He frowned slightly upon seeing Ma Yunbin’s pale face.
"Lord-Lord Qin, you have to be joking with me, right? You’re going to slay the dragon?" Ma Yunbin scrambled to his feet, his voice breaking.
"Is there a problem?" Qin Fan smiled.
"Lord Qin, that whole group of Fortune Tellers and Magicians isn’t even confident they can do it!" Ma Yunbin said frantically.
"They are them, and I am me! Besides, I’m the one slaying the dragon. I’m not asking you for help! You take one look, then get lost!" After speaking, Qin Fan continued to walk forward.
At that moment, Ma Yunbin didn’t know what to say. Looking at Qin Fan’s slender back, which carried an air of nonchalant confidence, he began to feel a tinge of regret.
If I hadn’t passed this news to Qin Fan, would any of this be about to happen? This is dragon-slaying, not butchering chickens and dogs! How could Qin Fan even dare to attempt something that a whole group of Fortune Tellers and Magicians had no confidence in?
Following behind Qin Fan, Ma Yunbin felt his heart pound violently with every single step. The closer they got to the mountain path, the more erratically it beat.
"Lord-Lord Qin, why aren’t we going that way?" Ma Yunbin asked anxiously when he saw Qin Fan taking a path on the opposite side from where the Fortune Tellers and Magicians had gathered. If those Fortune Tellers and Magicians knew he was attempting to slay the dragon alone, maybe there would be a chance for a resolution. Going alone like this, if he ran into trouble, his pleas for help would fall on deaf ears!
"Enough with the questions! Be quiet!" Qin Fan said softly. He was trying his best to avoid everyone, so why would he ever expose himself to those Magicians?
Hearing Qin Fan’s arrogant words, Ma Yunbin panicked even more. He felt an overwhelming urge to turn tail and run. He swore this was the most terrifying moment of his life. But if he fled down the mountain now, any chance of forging a deeper connection with Qin Fan would be lost forever.
Ma Yunbin clenched his teeth, ready to risk it all. Damn it! If I die, I die. I’m taking this gamble!
Suppressing the weakness in his trembling legs and the frantic beating of his heart, he said no more and simply followed Qin Fan, step by step.
Halfway up the mountain, Qin Fan suddenly came to a halt.
"What’s the matter, Lord Qin? What’s happening?" Ma Yunbin asked, all the while praying that Qin Fan would turn back.
"Shut up! Don’t talk!" With that brief command, Qin Fan closed his eyes. His Divine Sense spread out, enveloping Yanjing Ridge as he searched. Suddenly, to Ma Yunbin’s shock and alarm, his eyes snapped open.
He stepped off the stone path and started trekking across the rugged terrain to his left. With his back to Ma Yunbin, he said, "Stay close. If you slip, grab onto me immediately!"
"Okay, okay, okay!" Ma Yunbin stammered, his mind a complete blank. Amidst the gusts of eerie wind, they pushed through dense thickets where snakes, insects, and rodents could leap out at any moment. Forget about slaying a dragon; just walking on this spooky mountain path was enough to overwhelm him with fear.
After rustling and winding their way through the undergrowth for a considerable distance, the two arrived unscathed before a cave. Looking inside, it was so pitch-black you couldn’t even see your hand in front of your face. But Qin Fan’s Divine Sense had already scanned the entire interior.
"This is the place!" A slightly excited smile appeared on his face as he spoke.
"Lord Qin, how-how do we go in? We didn’t bring any lights or anything, and our phone flashlights won’t be enough to see by!" Staring at the cave, which was unnaturally dark even at the entrance, Ma Yunbin trembled uncontrollably. In this situation, even if they went in, they wouldn’t be able to see what the Jiao Dragon looked like!
"Just follow me!" Standing at the mouth of the cave, an excited Qin Fan couldn’t be bothered to explain any further. With that said, he strode into the cavern.
His Eyes of Golden Flame opened.
Suddenly, the entire cave became as bright as day.
"This—this—this, Lord Qin, how did it suddenly get so bright? This is incredible!" Ma Yunbin cried out in disbelief the moment he stepped inside.
"Can you stop asking so many questions? Just be quiet! When you see the Jiao Dragon, get out of here immediately! You hear me?" Qin Fan reprimanded, annoyed. Considering Ma Yunbin’s reputation back at Qi Middle School, his current panicky behavior was such a stark contrast!
"I hear you, I hear you!" Swallowing hard, Ma Yunbin numbly responded.
He then followed behind Qin Fan, venturing deeper into the cave. Every dark corner became brightly lit by the Eyes of Golden Flame as they approached. Ma Yunbin was filled with questions about this miraculous phenomenon, but under Qin Fan’s order to be quiet, he could only suppress them.
As the two went deeper, a deep pool, at least the size of a football field, appeared before them. Bubbles were constantly gurgling up from its surface.
An arrogant, excited grin spread across Qin Fan’s lips. Having already located the Jiao Dragon in the depths of the pool with his Divine Sense, he licked his lips and stared at the water’s surface. "Stand back. I’m going to lure this Jiao Dragon out first! Keep your eyes wide open and watch closely. You have five seconds at most. After five seconds, you must run out of here!"
