THUD, THUD, THUD...
Under the cover of Qin Fan’s Divine Sense, a series of hurried footsteps sounded from behind Ye Jizu the moment he finished speaking. Sensing the approaching person within his spiritual range, Qin Fan was slightly taken aback.
Was that old man practicing Tai Chi Fist by Qingling Lake... Ye Jizu’s father? The famous General Ye Congjun, whose name echoed throughout the high society of Lingnan?
In his previous life, Qin Fan had heard that Ye Jizu was the son of General Ye, but it was a pity he had never had the chance to meet Ye Congjun in person. With his status as a scion of the Qin Family, it should have been commonplace for him to get acquainted with such powerful lords. But alas, he was an outcast. Even before being kicked out of the family, he was their most disliked and despised member. Under such circumstances, how could he possibly have had the opportunity to encounter a regional powerhouse like Ye Congjun in any of the circles he moved in?
Now, in the presence of Ye Congjun, he couldn’t help but recall their earlier encounter by Qingling Lake. A strange, playful arc formed at the corner of his lips.
Had this been his past life, meeting Ye Congjun would have undoubtedly filled him with excitement and endless reverence. But now, with his identity as the Shura Venerable, a king returned, Ye Congjun? In his eyes, he no longer amounted to anything.
"Father, Father, you... you’re here!"
Amidst Qin Fan’s strange, playful smile, Ye Jizu saw Ye Congjun sprinting toward them, drenched in sweat, and cried out. At this moment, he was like a child, like an eaglet desperate for its parents’ protection.
Staggering up behind Qin Fan in his haste, Ye Congjun didn’t even spare Ye Jizu a glance as he bowed deeply, his forehead beaded with sweat. "Lord Qin, it was my son who was blind and failed to recognize greatness. He has offended you. I hope your magnanimity will allow you to spare this worthless creature this one time!"
Facing a Transformation Realm Grandmaster, his heart was about to leap out of his chest. Capricious, ruthlessly decisive, disdainful of rules, and fearless of consequences—these were often the labels attached to Transformation Realm Grandmasters in the Martial Arts World. In this situation, he truly feared Qin Fan would annihilate Ye Jizu with a single move.
Lord Qin? You? Magnanimous?
Hearing Ye Congjun’s reverent, panicked voice from behind, Qin Fan found it hard to describe his feelings. It ultimately manifested as a haughty chuckle.
"Oh ho! So you’re the famous General Ye from Lingnan. But tell me, are the descendants of the glorious Ye Family all such posturing, arrogant fools?" Qin Fan said slowly, turning to face the trembling, bowing Ye Congjun with a jeering tone.
"Lord Qin, please, just call me Little Ye. Calling me General Ye is taking years off this old man’s life!"
How could Ye Congjun dare to accept such a title in front of a Grandmaster, especially one he had offended? In his panic, he fumbled out a humble statement that defied age and hierarchy. He continued, "Lord Qin, it is my failure to discipline them strictly that has made the descendants of the Ye Family so arrogant and unruly. It is my fault—all my fault!"
"Indeed, quite unruly. He demanded one of my eyes and one of my hands, and then ordered me to get out of Mountain and Water Manor! Heh heh..." Qin Fan glanced at the deeply unsettled Ye Jizu and shook his head mockingly.
He demanded the eye and hand of a Transformation Realm Grandmaster? Just for that display of disrespect, the fact that Ye Jizu was still alive was nothing short of a miracle!
Ye Congjun’s body began to tremble more violently.
"This wretched creature is courting death!" he exclaimed. With that, he assumed the righteous, solemn air of a man prepared to punish his own kin for the greater good.
Bending down, he picked up a golf club and staggered quickly to Ye Jizu’s side. He raised the club and smashed it down furiously on Ye Jizu’s body. "You beast! I’ll teach you to be arrogant!"
"You wretch! I’ll teach you to be proud!"
"You beast! I’ll teach you to ignore the Ye Family’s rules!"
"I, Ye Congjun, have lived an upright and honest life! How did I birth an ignorant scourge like you who doesn’t know his own limits!"
Each shout was punctuated by the dull thud of the golf club striking Ye Jizu’s body. Through every blow, Ye Jizu dared not make a sound, merely gritting his teeth and enduring the powerful strikes. He knew Ye Congjun was trying to save him.
But if he knew, how could Qin Fan not understand? Qin Fan had seen through Ye Congjun’s intentions from the very beginning. He let out a soft chuckle and shook his head, thoroughly tired of this good-cop, bad-cop routine.
"That’s enough. Stop," he said.
Ye Congjun instinctively froze, his arm still raised. He turned to look at Qin Fan and asked nervously, "Lord Qin?"
"For the sake of your name, Ye Congjun, I will spare his life," Qin Fan said leisurely.
"Thank you, Lord Qin! Thank you! Please, be magnanimous and overlook this fool’s offense!" Ye Congjun said, his old eyebrows trembling as he tried to suppress his joy.
"Don’t be in such a hurry to thank me. The death sentence may be spared, but the punishment is inescapable. A leg will do."
Without giving the father and son any time to react, Qin Fan’s leg shot out the instant he finished speaking. The arch of his foot, infused with True Qi, swept toward Ye Jizu’s kneeling thigh in a ferocious arc.
Under the boundless, invisible force, the kneeling Ye Jizu was thrown high into the air. Several faint cracking sounds echoed in the air. By the time he hit the ground, a mouthful of coppery blood surged into his mouth and sprayed out uncontrollably.
He struggled to stand, only to find his right leg had lost all sensation and strength. The moment he pushed up with his left leg, his right leg failed to provide any support, and he collapsed heavily.
Qin Fan scoffed coldly. He snapped his right thumb and middle finger together. Gathering his energy, he formed a Primordial Energy Pearl and flicked it directly at Ye Jizu’s right leg.
SNAP!
From several meters away, Qin Fan’s flick produced another sharp sound from Ye Jizu’s leg. Swallowing the agony that brought tears to his eyes, Ye Jizu clenched his jaw tight.
"Get up," Qin Fan said softly, shaking his head. "If there’s a next time, not even the Heavenly King himself will be able to save you."
"Thank you, Lord Qin!"
Paying the price of a single leg to survive an encounter with a Grandmaster... Ye Jizu felt he was incredibly fortunate. After speaking, he planted his hands on the ground and strained to push himself up. His right leg could move again after Qin Fan’s long-range flick, but it could no longer muster any real strength. Aside from being dragged along by his left leg, it was no different from being completely crippled.
"Grandpa Jizu, does your Mountain and Water Manor still permit me to go all-in?" Qin Fan asked suddenly, a profound, playful smirk on his face as he watched Ye Jizu’s pain begin to subside.
"Lord Qin, could you please call me ’Little Jizu’? The ’Grandpa Jizu’ you’re calling me is an honor I cannot bear!" Hearing the title, Ye Jizu’s heart hammered in his chest, and his whole body trembled violently as he stammered with fear. Without waiting for a response, he rushed on, "Lord Qin, to go all-in at Mountain and Water Manor again... wouldn’t that be inappropriate?"
"You beast! What did you just say?"
Before Qin Fan could even speak, Ye Congjun’s face, which had just begun to relax, turned deathly pale once more. His heart raced, and he reflexively roared at his son.
