The Revenge of the Reborn Supreme Sovereign-Chapter 144 - 141: The Calm Before the Madness!
"Something’s happened!"
When those words left Ye Jizu’s solemn mouth, a monstrous killing intent erupted from Qin Fan’s chest. The passerby he had just threatened collapsed to the ground under the weight of this overwhelming, icy malice. Eyes wide with panic, the man scrambled to his feet, no longer caring about his phone as he staggered away in a terrified flight.
"Where are my parents now?" Qin Fan ground out the words, feeling as if his heart were being ripped apart.
From the moment he was reborn, he had sworn he would never let anyone harm his parents. But how long had it been? Had his resolve already been shattered?
"Master Qin, your parents are at the Jiangzhou Military Region General Hospital. The doctor said their injuries aren’t life-threatening, but they are still in a coma!"
Ye Jizu wanted to say more, but the line abruptly went dead.
On the other end, upon hearing Ye Jizu’s words, Qin Fan had uncontrollably crushed the phone in his hand. He tossed the piece of scrap metal aside. With eyes blazing like torches and roaring with murderous intent, Qin Fan took off at a full sprint.
Amid the incredulous gasps of bystanders, he didn’t even try to hail a taxi, instead running frantically all the way to Hongping Airport.
"Give me a ticket to Jiangzhou! The fastest one, leaving right now!" he demanded urgently at the ticket counter, his voice cold and his words slightly jumbled.
"Sir, I’m sorry. The earliest flight took off three minutes ago. The next one isn’t for another three hours. Would you like a ticket for that one?" The ticket agent was startled by his tone and expression, but she maintained her professional smile.
It left three minutes ago?
The moment he heard this, Qin Fan turned and bolted, sprinting toward the boarding gate. Onlookers saw only a blur, a shadow streaking past. And just like that, he was gone. Even the gate agents and airport security felt their eyes had played a trick on them.
In an instant that no one could perceive, Qin Fan’s figure had already darted onto the active runway. His gaze locked onto a commercial airliner that was just lifting off the tarmac, climbing into the sky. Without a shred of hesitation, he once again unleashed the domineering speed of his Foundation Establishment Stage cultivation. A residual shadow flickered, and in the next blink of an eye, his figure appeared atop the plane’s fuselage, several meters above the ground.
This happened so stealthily that not even the airport’s control tower detected the human silhouette on the ascending aircraft.
The two-hour flight was undeniably the most torturous two hours of Qin Fan’s life.
Although Ye Jizu had said his parents were not in serious danger, how could he, as their son, remain calm knowing they were still in a coma? This was especially true for someone like Qin Fan, who harbored a persistent, gnawing guilt toward his parents.
The moment the plane began its descent toward the runway, Qin Fan took a flying leap, jumping straight off the top of the aircraft. His phantom-like figure, streaking like a meteor, vanished from the airport before the astonished eyes of the ground crew.
"Did you see something just now?" "A shadow... was that a ghost?" "Get out of here! What ghost would be out in broad daylight?" "That can’t be right. Did we all just see things?" "Probably. The food’s been bad lately! We’re lacking nutrition!"
While the airport staff were exchanging bewildered remarks, Qin Fan had already emerged outside. He walked to a car parked by the roadside, his face a mask of anxiety. He placed his hand on the door handle, gave it a hard yank, and the door flew open. Getting inside, he quickly hot-wired the car in a few deft moves.
He slammed the accelerator to the floor and shot off like a madman. Ignoring every traffic law, his foot never once eased off the gas pedal. Amid a cacophony of converging police sirens, the domestic Geely sedan, having collided with no fewer than ten other cars, burst onto the grounds of the Jiangzhou Military Region General Hospital.
At that moment, Ye Jizu, who had been waiting at the hospital entrance for over two hours, witnessed this insane arrival. He immediately ran over, his intuition screaming that the driver was Qin Fan.
And he was right. The moment Qin Fan pushed the door open, Ye Jizu yelled, "Master Qin!"
"Where are my parents?"
"Twenty-eighth floor, Room 2817!" Ye Jizu blurted out instinctively.
"You wait here. The police and traffic cops will be here shortly. You handle it!"
With those hurried words, Qin Fan plunged into the hospital. He ignored the elevators, which were sure to stop on multiple floors, and headed straight for the stairwell, unleashing his speed without reservation.
In less than a minute, he arrived outside the premier VIP ward on the twenty-eighth floor. As Qin Fan approached, his expression grim and his aura fierce, several men in black suits with bulging temples immediately stepped forward to block his path.
"Who are you!" one of them barked, on high alert.
"Qin Fan!" he said in a low, grim voice. He knew these men must have been arranged by Ye Jizu to protect his parents, so he didn’t attack.
"Master Qin!"
At the mention of his name, the men in suits immediately parted, shouting the respectful address as they pushed the door open for him.
"Dad, Mom!"
The instant he walked into the ward and saw them both lying unconscious in their beds, tears burst from Qin Fan’s eyes. He walked between their beds and dropped to his knees. Through a blur of tears, he took his father’s hand and saw the thumb ring he wore was covered in cracks. He then looked at the necklace around his mother’s neck; its once vibrant, jade-like luster had dimmed completely.
Had they truly been through a life-or-death moment? If he hadn’t created these two protective items for them to wear, what would have happened? Even with these artifacts, they still ended up in a coma. What if they hadn’t had them at all? Qin Fan didn’t dare to imagine it.
CRACKLE! POP!
As these thoughts surged through his mind, his tightly clenched fists emitted a series of sharp, popping sounds. A boundless, furious killing intent burned in his bloodshot eyes. His frigid face was a mask of pure madness—an expression he had never once shown, even during his five hundred years in the Cangqiong Continent.
However, this state of murderous insanity did not last long. After a few breaths, his expression gradually settled into an unnerving calm.
But the most terrifying aspect of the Shura Venerable was his calm. When he chose serenity in the face of a rage that screamed for annihilation, anyone in the Cangqiong Continent who knew Qin Fan understood it heralded a cataclysm. Without fail.
A frenzied Shura Venerable was certainly terrifying, but at least he might show a sliver of restraint and not annihilate everyone. But a Shura Venerable who should have been frenzied, yet chose to be calm... that was a foe no one in the entire Cangqiong Continent dared to face.
Sniffling, Qin Fan blinked away his tears and rose to his feet. After sensing that his parents’ bodies had no lasting damage, he gently took their hands and began to slowly channel a measured amount of Mixed Element True Qi into them.
