Chapter 136: Chapter 133: Can I Say No?

Was it over? Was that even possible?

It had to be said that a woman’s emotional intelligence often fluctuates with the situation. Li Wenxuan’s question was indicative of a negative IQ. If it were that simple, would Zhuge have gone to the trouble of finding Qin Fan? If it were that easy, wouldn’t the ten billion have been spent for nothing?

Putting other things aside, if one were to use human wave tactics coupled with high-powered firearms, dealing with these so-called ferocious beasts would not be impossible. The cost of such an operation would not even amount to a fraction of ten billion.

However, Qin Fan couldn’t be bothered with such thoughts. He had no way of knowing what would happen next or if he could obtain the Life Extending Fruit so easily.

Considering Li Wenxuan was his ten-billion-yuan employer, he shook his head. "It’s not that simple. Didn’t I tell you? These are just the small fry on the periphery. It’s hard to say if there are any beasts with Spiritual Wisdom here, but there are definitely more ferocious ones deeper in. Of course, the beasts aren’t what’s important. The important thing is the people who are raising them!"

As Qin Fan’s words fell, Zhuge and Li Wenxuan exclaimed in unison, "What!"

What kind of joke is this? There are people here? What kind of people could possibly raise these ferocious beasts?

"Master Qin, you’re saying there are people here?" Zhuge asked in shock.

"That’s right," Qin Fan replied with a faint smile. He then took a step forward, channeling True Qi from his Dantian to project his voice. "Friends inside, are you coming out, or do I have to come in?"

Confused, Zhuge and Li Wenxuan listened to Qin Fan’s shout, their brows deeply furrowed. If there were people here raising these beasts, then didn’t all the men who died during our last visit die a truly pointless death? As this thought surfaced, Zhuge involuntarily recalled how the beasts had seemed to possess a sudden awareness and retreated last time. A shiver ran down his spine. If the beasts here haven’t achieved Spiritual Wisdom, then someone must be controlling them!

But before he could ponder it further, a horse’s neigh tore through the sky, shattering the deathly silence of the deep, primeval forest. Immediately after, the sound of hooves clattered from all directions.

Wearing a playful, amused smile, Qin Fan watched as five white horses carrying five men galloped out. He scanned them from a distance with his Eyes of Golden Flame. The five white horses all possessed Third Rank Crystal Cores.

The white horses halted five meters away from Qin Fan’s group. "Who are you?" the middle-aged man in the lead asked, his brow creased.

"You’re the ones who’ve trained these beasts, aren’t you? Not bad. I never expected there was a place like this in the world, where every beast has managed to form a Crystal Core. It seems that reaching Fifth Rank and achieving Spirit Awakening is just a matter of time for them! Heh, interesting," Qin Fan chuckled, not answering the question directly. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Unlike the bewildered Zhuge, the five men on horseback were visibly shaken by his words. A hint of panic even flashed deep within their eyes.

The Training Spirit Clan had an ancestral creed: until the beasts underwent Spirit Awakening, the clan must not enter the mortal world. Generation after generation had abided by this rule, never once setting foot outside since birth. This guaranteed their secret would never be exposed. But how could this outsider know about it?

"Third Rank warhorses... you must have been training them for at least two hundred years, right? Waiting until Fifth Rank for them to gain intelligence, hiding here generation after generation, all for these beasts. Is it worth it? Can you afford to wait that long?" Qin Fan pressed on with a smile, not waiting for an answer.

Hearing this, the muscles on the lead man’s face twitched. "Friend, may we ask your purpose for coming here?" he asked, quickly changing the subject.

"We came for the Life Extending Fruit!" Li Wenxuan blurted out from behind Qin Fan.

"The Life Extending Fruit? Excellent! We will offer it with both hands. We only hope that you will leave quickly!" the middle-aged man replied promptly, without a moment’s hesitation.

He couldn’t see through Qin Fan at all. In his brief glance around, he had seen that the Guard Cave Beasts were all killed in a single blow, their Crystal Cores extracted. In contrast, Qin Fan was completely unharmed. In this situation, he had lost any nerve he might have had to test Qin Fan’s strength. All I want is for these three to leave as quickly as possible! The population of the Training Spirit Clan isn’t large; every loss is a heavy one. I can’t take this risk!

"Really? Great! We only want the Life Extending Fruit. Once we have it, we’ll leave immediately and never set foot here again!" Unable to contain her excitement, Li Wenxuan shouted, joy written all over her face.

"Second Brother, go get three Life Extending Fruits! Quickly!" the middle-aged man ordered, turning to another rider.

"Yes, Father!" the man replied. He wheeled his horse around and galloped back the way they came.

As the man rode off, a heavy silence fell upon the clearing. Qin Fan remained quiet, a knowing smile playing on his lips. Li Wenxuan was visibly ecstatic. Zhuge, meanwhile, studied the men before them thoughtfully, his mind reeling with layer upon layer of doubt and shock, but he dared not voice a single question.

Before long, the man returned on his white horse, holding three stalks of reddish-green fruit. "Father, the Life Extending Fruits!"

The middle-aged man took the fruits, dismounted, and walked toward Qin Fan’s group. "Here are the Life Extending Fruits. We hope the three of you will depart swiftly," he said, offering them to Qin Fan. The tension in the depths of his eyes was palpable.

Seeing this, Li Wenxuan darted forward before Qin Fan could move and took them. "Thank you, thank you!"

"Master Zhuge, you can handle the beasts in Seven Layers Mountain, right?" Qin Fan suddenly asked after she had the fruits.

"Yes, Master Qin, I can," Zhuge replied without any further questions.

"Good. Take Miss Li and head back first. I still have some business to attend to," Qin Fan said with a slight nod.

Zhuge opened his mouth, as if to say something in response, but he forced the words back down. He then said, "Alright! In that case, Master Qin, Miss Li and I will go on ahead."

With that, Zhuge turned and began to walk away at a brisk pace. Having finally obtained the Life Extending Fruits, Li Wenxuan was in no mood to overthink things. She glanced at Qin Fan, her lips parting and closing as if to speak, but in the end, she said nothing and followed Zhuge.

In contrast, the middle-aged man’s breathing and heart rate quickened at Qin Fan’s words. He’s letting them leave with the Life Extending Fruit, but the ones leaving are the two insignificant ones. How can I accept this?

"Friend, what is the meaning of this?" the middle-aged man asked through clenched teeth, reining in his fury.

"No special meaning. I’d just like to take a look around. Am I welcome?" Qin Fan replied with a slight, seemingly harmless smile.

"Can I say no?" the man asked in a low, complex tone.

"You can. But then I’ll carve the Crystal Core out of every single beast here and kill all of you. Do you doubt me? Or perhaps you think you can stop me? Heh," Qin Fan shook his head with an arrogant, soft laugh.

With that, he stuffed his hands in his pockets, tilted his head back, and strode confidently forward.
