How does he know I can’t hold my liquor?
Ji Niandong was surprised for a moment, then thought, he can even know the dreams I hide deep in my heart, so why wouldn’t he know such trivial things?
"Oh dear, I can’t believe I’m asking such a stupid question!" She lowered her head and laughed awkwardly, "Surely there’s nothing you... nothing you don’t know!"
"How could that be?" Lu Beichen exhaled lightly, imperceptibly, and replied casually, "For instance, I didn’t know why you had that car accident earlier."
"How would you know something even I don’t understand!" She suddenly widened her eyes and asked, furrowing her brows, "Could it be that you have mind-reading powers? So you know everything I know, and things I don’t know, you also don’t know?"
Her expression was truly amusing, and Lu Beichen couldn’t help but be entertained. He leaned over slightly and stretched out his finger to poke her forehead, "You really are a little fool!"
The gesture was suggestive, the tone indulgent, and a restless tension suddenly spread around them, making Ji Niandong blush instantly.
The dishes were almost all served, and they had almost finished eating.
Lu Beichen waited until she put down her knife and fork before he set down his own utensils and picked up a napkin to wipe his mouth. He naturally and casually waited for her, ensuring she felt no pressure.
"I’m going to the restroom for a moment, wait for me!" Lu Beichen stood up and instructed, and Ji Niandong nodded.
She exhaled, propped her chin lightly with her hand, seeming to feel less scared being alone with him now than she did before; perhaps the awkwardness had overshadowed the fear.
While she was pondering, the restaurant lights gradually dimmed, the violin music turned lively and sweet, and amidst the dim light a warm yellow glow began to rise. Lu Beichen appeared holding a large bouquet of roses, walking toward her.
The warm yellow light outlined his silhouette, his prominent features casting a shadow on his face. He walked out from the light, exuding elegance, like a deity!
Ji Niandong swallowed hard, feeling numb all over, unable to move from her seat, just staring dazedly at the approaching figure.
Lu Beichen was already standing in front of her, smiling tenderly: "They say the proposal scene girls anticipate involves kneeling on one knee offering roses and a ring. Though we’ve already received our marriage certificate, I still have to make up for the proposal ritual to you."
Ji Niandong snapped out of her daze and instantly stood up from her seat, instinctively accepting the bouquet from him, "No, no need to kneel, I’ll accept!"
The man in front of her was too perfect, it seemed making him kneel would cost her her life!
No, living like this seems so unreal that it’s as if she’s already shortening her lifespan?
Seeing her flustered manner, Lu Beichen chuckled, "So no need for the kneeling part? I promised you that for now, we won’t let others know we’re married, so there can’t be a wedding either! Now even the proposal ritual is skipped, don’t say later that I treated you unfairly!"
"No, not at all unfair!" Ji Niandong shook her head vigorously, recalling his previous reasons for rejecting marrying her.
Lu Beichen’s smile widened; he had always appeared gentle and elegant with a faint smile on his face, but today he was smiling genuinely, evidently truly happy.
She suddenly felt even warmer in her heart because of his happiness!
Looking up steadily at Lu Beichen, she saw him take out a small black gift box from his pocket, and Ji Niandong’s heart suddenly tightened, hastily saying, "You actually prepared a ring?"
