The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases-Chapter 487 - 290: Thorough to the End
David naturally wouldn’t hold Alfonse’s minor, typically draconic ambition against him.
Even humans have the instinct to aim high, let alone the inherently greedy colossal dragons.
Alfonse’s mention, however, sparked an interest in David—who hadn’t previously entertained such thoughts—towards Viola, the Black Dragon lass who usually appeared exceptionally obedient.
She is quite cute, after all, being small and slender. Moreover, Viola inherited her beauty from her mother, unlike Alfonse, who had grown increasingly crooked with the passing years, a sorry-looking specimen. And compared to Silvia, she is an entirely different flavor altogether. Besides, what Silvia couldn’t bring herself to say, perhaps Viola might let slip one day?
Lust
The scales on David’s spine bristled slightly, and even the way he looked at his nominal adopted Black Dragon daughter began to change.
Greed
Felicia, the ruler of the Dells, naturally welcomed such a development.
However, her age, spanning more than three centuries, had also blessed her with commensurate patience and wisdom; she showed not the slightest inclination to rush things or actively play matchmaker.
Instead, she surveyed the bustling town—where dragons and various other races peacefully coexisted for mutual benefit—and complimented effusively, "I never imagined that our Chromatic Dragons’ territory could be managed and constructed in such a manner. You have set a benchmark for us dragons in Skanis to learn from, David Uthos."
This wasn’t mere flattery.
It was heartfelt admiration from Felicia.
Indeed, she genuinely intended to observe thoroughly during her visit. Afterward, before returning, she planned to consult her own children, hoping to replicate this model in her newly established territory.
Truthfully, back when David first made a name for himself in Katjana, she had heard that this young dragon had a unique approach to managing his territory, but she hadn’t taken it seriously at the time. Like most neighboring dragons, she had simply regarded him as a privileged scion benefiting from the legacy of the legendary Dragon Mother, Crimson Calamity, and thriving because of it.
It wasn’t until she personally arrived at this emerging town, primarily operated by a group of Blue Dragons and former mining slaves, that she experienced something truly refreshing.
It was a town that catered to colossal dragons, merchants, and adventurers alike.
Hotels, hot springs, supermarkets, futures markets, casinos, and even various "colorful" industries serving all races were readily available.
Although named Ore Town, the spectacular Dragon Nest edifices constructed within were things she, a dragon over three hundred years old, had never seen or even heard of.
She didn’t expect to rival Montero Ore Town, which had become the hub for maritime logistics and trade between the New and Old Continents in less than a decade. However, she could at least learn from David, her potential Red Dragon son-in-law, particularly how he turned his treasures into self-sustaining, appreciating fixed assets.
This aspect alone was enough to make other dragons burn with envy.
But given the greedy and suspicious nature of dragons, she believed that many Chromatic and even Metal Dragons, should they try to learn, were doomed to fail.
They were incapable of making large-scale investments or granting sufficient trust and autonomy to their kin, let alone their partners.
If they couldn’t even manage sustained investment in and cultivation of their own kin, further progress was out of the question. This doomed the Chromatic Dragons to continue their primitive ways of claiming mountains as bandit lairs, relying on tolls and plunder to accumulate their first hoards.
And even those who managed to restrain their inherent greed enough to establish a territory might not be able to defend it in the Skanis Continent, which teemed with Evil Dragons.
But Felicia, a seasoned legendary dragon, was confident she could succeed.
Of course, that was provided she didn’t encounter another anomaly like Christoph, that disrespectful old Red Dragon who had emerged from Barto Hell with his entire bloodline.
David, on the other hand, easily discerned his potential mother-in-law’s intention to learn from him.
But since he had openly established his business, he had no fear of other dragons copying his methods. He promptly extended an invitation, "Then, how about I personally give you a tour, Ms. Felicia?"
Naturally, Ms. Felicia had no reason to refuse. "That would be much appreciated, David Uthos."
After all, what better way to gain convincing insights and deepen one’s impression than to experience it all firsthand?
Subsequently, David first took the imposing, dark, ’conspicuous gem’ of a dragon to a Black Dragon-specialty Dragon Nest for a volcanic ash hot spring bath.
The hot spring, built on a Thunderstone mine, was already at a comfortable temperature. But once David, a draconic ’quick boiler,’ heated it further, Felicia immediately felt as if her entire body was ablaze.
The sudden surge of heat caused the scales of the legendary Black Dragon to dilate, and she involuntarily let out a moan that could send a dragon’s imagination soaring, "Oh~ hmm, quite a peculiar sensation. You certainly know how to enjoy yourself." Compared to the cold swamp of her own Dragon Nest, this was an entirely different experience.
It could be said that the Montero Ore Town’s Dragon Springs were relatively inviting and tempting to all dragons, except for frost-affiliated breeds like White Dragons and Silver Dragons.
David merely smiled, "This is just the beginning."
TAP. TAP. TAP.
As David tapped the bluestone edge of the spring with his tail, a group of Dragonkin, refugees from Lurva seeking a livelihood, bustled in. They carried items like mane brushes, toothpick-like Dragon Spears, and scale trimmers resembling compound shears, and immediately set to work on the two dragons.
While providing Lady Felicia with a full suite of dragon maintenance services, they fluently explained in Draconic, tinged with a Granyel accent, the services being performed and some necessary care procedures.
To protect their clients’ privacy, the Dragonkin communicated all this using Telepathy.
Even so, when Felicia heard about her various oral issues—such as odor from her habit of consuming carrion, damaged old teeth, dirt in the crevices of her scales, and the cleaning of her aging, chipped scale edges, along with a recommendation for monthly maintenance—she initially felt a bit mortified.
But when she saw the ’Dragon Scale Fragments’ and ’Black Dragon Decayed Teeth’ being carefully packaged and sealed by the Dragonkin, she couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly. She realized these were the true ’profits’ of the Dragon Springs: legendary dragon trophies, which might otherwise require several powerful individuals to obtain by slaying a dragon, were being acquired by David through such mutually beneficial means.
Perhaps it was the springs and this comprehensive pampering package that made her overly comfortable. Her gaze towards David became coy and seductive. She stretched lazily, revealing a stunning draconic curve, and her hips began to sway involuntarily. Then, she began rubbing and rolling along the edge of the spring.
David, already experienced with dragon life, could see this was bringing on Lady Felicia’s mating period ahead of schedule!
Feeling a bit parched from watching, David casually tapped a dragon claw. As Lady Felicia transitioned from shock to bewilderment and then to rueful amusement, an array of muscular men from various races emerged.
But for this service, which attended even to the cloacal opening, Lady Felicia, for once, showed disdain. She looked at David provocatively and flicked her dragon tail, "What use are these toothpicks? Since you’re being so thorough with your services, David, you might as well go all the way."
Even Felicia herself was startled by her audacious move.
What followed, however, was a pounding in her heart she hadn’t experienced in decades, perhaps even centuries.
I just wonder if the legendary Lady Pafila will bring down her wrath upon me.
"Ah, this." David, who had been about to sneak away, stopped in his tracks. He looked at Viola’s mother, Felicia, who was voluptuous, in her prime, and still possessed considerable charm, swallowed hard, and then grinned, "Well then... I shall dutifully comply..."
He uttered some words that the Black Dragon lady didn’t quite understand, and then lunged right for her...
Lust
After a night of passion that lasted until dawn, David then took the languorous Lady Felicia to Montero’s largest casino for a few rounds of gambling.
Seeing that the client was personally brought by their boss, the dealers had no choice but to go easy on her.
But even knowing this was all David’s arrangement, watching the large stacks of magic crystal chips pile up still gave Felicia a thrill and satisfaction unlike anything she had experienced in over three hundred years.
"Next, I’ll take you to see the most important industry in our territory right now—the production base for Thunderstone Dragon Staves," David said with a smile.
Many Dragon Lords from Skanis had already gathered there.
"I’m very much looking forward to it."
Felicia shot David a flirtatious look, her slender dragon tail seemingly brushing nonchalantly past David’s rear.
"..." On a nearby street, Alfonse, who had just spotted his mother and David—his ’potential brother-in-law’—and was about to approach them for a chat, witnessed this unusually intimate scene between them. A bold possibility instantly struck him.
He was thunderstruck!
I did consider rising in status through my sister, but never through my mother! If this is true, how am I, Alfonse, supposed to... How am I supposed to live with myself!!!
