The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases-Chapter 45 - 44: Gift
Chapter 45: Chapter 44: Gift
But regardless, the Authority of Lust was undeniably mighty.
It could use the accumulated Sin of Lust to "Evolve and Sublimate":
That is, to evolve oneself according to one’s own will, in a way that could defy biological logic and common sense.
For instance, the maneuver where he used reverse breath to burn the Drow battleships had been forcefully realized through the Authority of Arrogance.
Yet, in his current weak state, he couldn’t maintain limitless Arrogance towards the world indefinitely.
However, precisely because of the novel experience brought by reverse breathing, the Authority of Lust appeared.
It transformed his internal flame glands and his entire gastrointestinal structure, making the monstrous feat of reverse fire-breathing sustainable and permanent.
Thinking about how he constantly pursued the Authority of Lust to elevate himself, he didn’t dare to imagine what he would eventually turn into...
With that thought, David just couldn’t be bothered to think any further. He exhausted all his Dragon Breath in one go, and in an extremely hungry state, he activated the Authority of Gluttony, swallowing all the food he had prepared in the cave and those three dead eggs in one gulp.
At the same time, he concentrated all his attention and began to infuse his will into the Authority of Lust:
It was a massive red dragon with a pair of huge foreclaws and wings. The dragon wings resembled layered tympanic structures, and the three finger bones at the tips of the wings were hollow.
The high-frequency vibrations between the eardrum-like structures caused intense and ear-piercing sound waves and tremors, shattering and tearing the ground and stones around it, blowing them away, and causing the forest’s branches and leaves to bend over and curl up as if a hurricane had made landfall.
Alongside six blazing flames shooting out from the tips of the dragon’s wing finger bones, the entire Red Dragon soared into the sky like a living biological warplane, breaking through the heavens with a roar that ravaged the sonic boom clouds.
Yes, this image was reminiscent of a character option from a game called "Monster Torment" that David played in his previous life:
The Comet Dragon.
It was a Comet Dragon repainted in red.
In those years, through the screen, he controlled such a tempestuous dragon that reigned like the king of the skies. He harassed and mocked human NPC characters everywhere, venting his accumulated dissatisfaction from overwork. This gave his mental state a short break for maintenance, after which he would continue to create value for the company the next day, thus maintaining his livelihood.
And now, he could finally metamorphose into a unique Comet Dragon in this otherworldly land.
At that thought, immersed in a beautiful dream, David awoke with joy...
Upon waking, a somewhat dazed David found himself noticeably thinner, his body much lighter.
It was an inevitable consequence.
Anyone who lost weight to the point of being skin and bones only to eat back to normal, especially while upgrading their own body, would find this to be a reasonable price to pay.
To prepare for this "evolution," David had not only stocked up enough food to last him for several months but had also specifically left three dead eggs as nitrogen pumps.
The dead eggs, being a delicacy that hatchling dragons could only dream of finding, served as the perfect nutritional supplement suited for a dragon’s constitution and were naturally the best choice for sustenance during hibernation.
After consuming these three eggs, David could distinctly feel his body had grown a bit more robust, albeit slightly.
But that was enough to satisfy David, as such daily incremental improvements were still considerable.
Being able to truly feel oneself becoming stronger each day was something countless people would envy to the point of madness.
Ah, it’s just a pity that Gluttony isn’t like the devouring ability in those novels, where swallowing something would directly copy the other’s innate talents, David thought, a little greedy for more.
But then again, if Gluttony were that overpowered, he could just have a feast in the forest and immediately gain the strength of an ant, the Regeneration of a centipede, the mating abilities of a Macaw, and in under a month, he might be able to integrate nearly half of Northland’s entire food chain’s talents from the bottom up, along with copying all the Martial Techniques, Feats, and magic of all intelligent beings.
Then he would truly be invincible, and he could point to the gods above and challenge them:
Who else is there?
Just thinking about the absurd scenario of becoming an ultimate being in this otherworldly retirement mode, David chuckled at himself. Then he lifted his wings, which had clearly become much wider and thicker, looking left and right as he muttered to himself, "Mother Duck, look at how much effort I’ve put in, all for the sake of your aesthetic."
With that, David added a debt to Dragon Mother’s mental tally.
He hadn’t forgotten Dragon Mother’s roar demanding he never breathe fire with his rear end in front of her again.
After all, he was currently residing within Dragon Mother’s territory and under her protection.
Angering Dragon Mother would mean he’d face unpleasant consequences as her son.
So, if there was a chance to make a change, he would certainly take it.
But David simply did not want to give up his blueprint plan for a ’red-horned, triple-speed, jet-propelled combat dragon.’
Thus, a compromise was reached:
He’d switch from propulsion via butt-fired flames to a dual-wing flame spray like that of the Comet Dragon.
There were benefits to this, too, and it addressed one of David’s previous concerns:
Although he had tried to avoid using that move unless absolutely necessary, if it ever got out, those utterly despicable bards might very well give him a cringe-worthy nickname like ’Flame-Anus Dragon.’
And that kind of thing, once it became a consensus, could stick with him for life!
How would he ever attract a female dragon then!
As a dragon, being cool was essential, after all!
Only, this wasn’t as simple as modifying a few valves in the digestive system anymore.
Instead, it was a colossal project. This involved the entire lung cavity, flame sacs, and the intricate construction of airways connecting the lungs directly to the tips of the wing bones. Furthermore, achieving the sonic boom effect demonstrated by the Comet Dragon required the membranous structure of the wings to undergo tens of thousands of evolutionary trials and errors.
It was not something that could be settled in a short hibernation.
Thinking thus, David lifted his wings, now several times heavier, and began to flutter them gently.
Soon, the multiple structured membranes of the dragon wings started to rub against each other, producing a soft whirring sound like that from an AC’s outdoor unit.
Of the three flame-channeling bones in each of his wings, only the middle one had a partially cleared airway, spitting out a jet of flame like a welding torch.
This amount of kinetic energy was naturally not enough to send David skyward like the Comet Dragon.
Indeed, it looks like it’s going to take some time, David shrugged, not particularly bothered. Using the most primitive yet common dragon method, he pushed off from the ground and leaped out of his temporary lair, flying a few circles overhead to get a feel for it.
The result was about what he initially estimated. Because of the change in his body size, especially the redundancy in wing design, if he didn’t activate the Comet Dragon mode, he was a bit slower than before.
But once the propulsion system was ignited, he was about a third faster than other young dragons his age.
And because the kinetic energy output wasn’t too great for the moment, it was barely sustainable.
"Looks like I need to keep building up Sin of Lust," he muttered.
In dire need of replenishing Sin of Lust to continue his upgrade plans, David nodded in satisfaction. His life-saving skills were retained, and there was still huge potential for development.
Most importantly, at least he could report back to Dragon Mother.
"Eh, I haven’t had the chance to study this thing Mom gave me."
As he spoke, he took off what looked like a ’ring’—an ugly gift from Dragon Mother—from the base of his tail. He smacked his lips at the muddy-looking material and said, "Should I say it’s just as one would expect from a dragon’s gift?"
It really was quite shabby...
David didn’t mind; after all, it was a gift from Dragon Mother.
He could accept it as a commemorative ’Get Out of Death Free’ card.
But no sooner had he worn it on his arm as a bracelet and closed his eyes to fully sense its function, than an overwhelming surge of heat, rising as if from the depths of Barto Hell, made every scale on his dragon body stand on end:
Wrath of Tiamat
"...Holy shit, Mom dropped epic loot!"
David’s eyes widened, impressed despite his confusion.
He was like a dragon whelp who had just received a new toy from his mother; overwhelming curiosity instantly took hold.
He licked the small horn on his snout, his eyes filled with pleasure and excitement.
"Why not give it a try?"
