The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases-Chapter 368 - 235: Blue Dragon Brotherhood (Part 2)
She had only taken a few steps when she noticed ’Tanyas’ had actually followed her, and immediately asked in surprise, "Aren’t you going to help your brother?" She had thought these Blue Dragon brothers were exceptionally close.
"But I am a Mage," Tania said with a smile, uttering words that seemed completely nonsensical. However, Lefilia misinterpreted this as him valuing his own skin and having sold out his brother, her expression and attitude growing even colder.
Tania, however, didn’t mind this and simply swayed her tail while humming a hometown tune David had brought from Blue Star.
But before she could even finish humming the prelude, several faint tremors came from the ground.
Hmm... has it started? Lefilia thought.
Hmm, it’s already over. Tania’s tail wagged even more cheerfully.
Indeed, before she had hummed half the tune, a languid David, who seemed not to have even warmed up, had already caught up, falling back into his previous position relative to the other two.
Lefilia immediately stared at David as if she had seen a Devil. "How did you do it?"
She really couldn’t figure out how those individuals, on the verge of their mating season and brimming with vigor, would let him off so easily.
David just smirked. "Of course, I had a friendly exchange with my ’good brothers.’"
Yes, future good brothers worth fifty resources each.
"Hmph, never mind if you don’t want to say it." Lefilia felt she had been played by these Blue Dragon brothers, especially after she had stuck her neck out for them earlier.
She also finally realized why Chieftain Patrice had accepted them so readily this time.
Initially, she had thought it was due to the pressure from the High Elves’ continuous troop reinforcements, that Chieftain Patrice, worried about the future, had relaxed the restrictions.
It now seemed these Blue Dragon brothers from Toriel’s Prime Material Plane were indeed extraordinary!
Thus, without another word, the three dragons parted ways in the main courtyard. The enthusiastic Tania followed Lefilia to the lower courtyard to learn how to care for those cunning and hardy Blue Hatchlings.
David, on the other hand, having recently had a tough confrontation with the legendary Red Dragon Brittany, was a bit tired and just wanted to find a cave to lie down in. However, every cave that caught his eye was already occupied. He then used his tail to stop a fellow Blue Dragon and inquire about his own nest arrangements.
But that Blue Dragon laughed scornfully, "Do Toriel Blue Dragons get their nests assigned? Around here, at least, the rule is if you fancy a cave, you go and take it—as long as you can beat the occupant."
David’s eyes lit up; he was suddenly no longer sleepy. "Now that’s what I like to hear! Thanks, bro."
David then turned his head and picked one out.
Greed.
Then, under the somewhat stunned gaze of that Blue Dragon, David strode toward the largest nest in the center of the main courtyard.
「Far away, in a tunnel leading to the upper courtyard」
Led by Ezekiel, two young Blue Dragons had just managed, with great difficulty, to painfully extricate their noticeably swollen heads from the pit wall. They looked at each other, faces filled with shock and disbelief.
Although the two of them weren’t the strongest in the Olivalyres clan, surely they were considered a core force in this Blue Dragon Nest?
But that previous confrontation—no, it wasn’t a battle at all! It was a one-sided provocation and utter rout!
They were all Blue Dragons who had recently entered their youth, yet the opponent’s sheer power was on a completely different level. It even brought back memories of the helplessness and humiliation they’d felt as Blue Hatchlings in the lower courtyard, being brutalized by the dragon tenders during combat lessons.
"Should we hurry and tell the boss about this?" Tralton asked.
Ezekiel hissed, "Are you an idiot? Telling the boss would be the same as announcing this embarrassing incident to all the dragons in the main courtyard, wouldn’t it?"
"But he’s obviously a tough one..." Tralton said, a lingering fear in his voice. If the crystallized hide of this Blue Dragon tunnel hadn’t been relatively thin, with mostly sand behind it, he suspected his own skull might have been the first thing to shatter.
Ezekiel, however, narrowed his eyes and said, "But as long as every dragon in the main courtyard has a run-in with this tough nut, our status won’t change."
"What do you mean?" Tralton vaguely grasped a possibility but still found it hard to believe.
"I mean, perhaps, before long, we might be getting a new boss."
"How is that possible?!"
Tralton’s tail shot up stiffly. "It’s only his first day in our clan!" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
No sooner had he finished speaking than a deep rumbling emanated from the tunnel below.
"There, see? He doesn’t care about that," Ezekiel said, jabbing the ground with the tip of his tail.
"...Then we’d better hurry over there," Tralton said.
"Why?"
"If your judgment is correct, and we’re the first to rush over and pledge loyalty, we might even be put in important positions, right?"
"..." This time, it was Ezekiel whose mind couldn’t keep up.
"Chromatic Dragon Queen above, you’re right!" Ezekiel slapped his tail and immediately sprinted toward the main courtyard.
They had barely stepped into the main courtyard when they saw their former leader, Patricio, being thrown out of his own nest once again, his face a picture of someone questioning his very draconic existence.
Patricio, the acknowledged leader of the entire main courtyard, was genuinely bewildered at this moment.
Being groggily roused from sleep and tossed out of his own nest by some young Blue Dragon who had barged in was one thing.
After all, this was probably a tradition passed down among Blue Dragons since their Hatchling days.
The strongest rightfully inherited and enjoyed the most spacious and comfortable nest. The weak were only fit to carve out new ones, and these couldn’t be larger than those of other dragons, otherwise, they would just be snatched away.
Startled from his sleep, Patricio had initially thought it was some audacious young Blue Dragon upstart who felt qualified to challenge him, launching a sneak attack—a sneak attack on him, an 89-year-old young adult dragon leader, and with all the dragons of the main courtyard watching!
Blazing with fury, he had rushed back, only to find that the Blue Dragon, now casually lying in his still-warm nest and licking his tail, was someone he didn’t even recognize!
A Blue Dragon new to the clan?
Daring to challenge him directly?
Despicable outsider dragon!
Patricio immediately pounced like a corpulent Maine Coon, aiming straight for the intruder.
But just as his claws were about to land on the other dragon’s back, an irresistible and powerful force once again blasted him out of the nest.
Freedom of Movement Spell.
The dragon skipped like a stone across the open square of the main courtyard several times before tumbling headlong down the vertical shaft leading to the lower court, leaving the watching dragons agape.
Amidst a sweep of wind, Patricio, wreathed in lightning accumulated from his fury, flew back up. Looming over David, who now occupied his nest, Patricio roared in a low voice, "Despicable outsider dragon! If you have an ounce of Blue Dragon dignity, then come out and face me in a fair fight! Relying on one or two magical items for an unfair advantage will only earn you the scorn of all dragons!"
Wanting to settle things so he could finally get a good sleep, David yawned as he emerged. Glancing at the surrounding dragons, who seemed equally displeased with his actions, he chuckled impatiently, "Isn’t this the rule you all set yourselves? Why the dissatisfaction now?"
Before Patricio could speak, David’s expression suddenly turned serious. He rose to his full height, surveyed the crowd of dragons, flicked his tail, and with a ferocious grin, spread his claws wide. "Fine then, come at me together."
"I’ll take on ten of you!"
Authority—Wrath.
The entire main courtyard fell silent for a moment at David’s unprecedented arrogance.
"Ze’na’su ha’da (Damn it!), get him!" one dragon roared.
In an instant, the already simmering anger of the disgruntled dragons in the main courtyard exploded. Goaded by David’s full-blown Taunt, they swarmed him.
The Olivalyres Dragon Nest was shaken by an earthquake for the third time that day.
After a series of aftershocks, the main courtyard finally fell quiet.
Then, the main courtyard collapsed.
