The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 38: The mad woman swinging a little sword.
I stilled myself completely, the hand on my mouth never moved and I didn’t move as well. The dagger grew heavier as it was placed at the waist of my skirt underneath my cloak. It was still there and I had some reassurance even though I had not even the slightest inkling of how to use it or even defend myself.
This was going to be the first task that I was going to take care of when I would return to the palace.
As fast as I could, I reached for the dagger by going underneath my cloak pulled it out, and stabbed the man’s arm with that making him in pain and take it back.
"Fuck!" He cursed and I knew he was in the profession of fighting.
"Step back!" I commanded and raised my dagger as if it were a sword and enough to protect me against as I counted . . . Five men.
Goodness above, below, and beyond.
There was no way that I could fight five men and get out of here safely. They were all built up heavily with muscles and armor which I could tell at one glance. Should I give up the fight already? Because there was no use to fight when I knew that I was doomed anyway.
The man in front of me, whom I had successfully injured, looked at me with hatred in his eyes along with rage, and that sparked fear inside me enough to have me swing the knife at him like a madwoman when I saw him come towards me.
"Ah!" I charged forward with a war cry, fearful of my life, heavyweight, and raised the knife above my head, ready to kill him by stabbing him in the head. Easy aim and definite kill.
I had stepped quickly into a small hallway towards the man and he didn’t even blink. I swung it on his head and he dodged skilfully by merely stepping aside. I stopped before coming face to face with the wall.
A hand latched onto my wrist and squeezed it. "Ah!" I yelled out in pain and immediately let go of my only weapon. I watched it clank against the ground and I saw the ruby, which was not real, fall apart into pieces. That made me angry.
"What do you want?" I yelled at the man who was bleeding. "Why are you manhandling me?"
The man grunted in reply and slide the dagger away with his foot as my eyes watched it happen. "We are here on orders, we will complete them and you will never see us again," he said with distaste and fear settled into my chest.
The dagger was gone, I could not fight the men on my own and I could hear the music of instruments coming from two floors below us, which meant even if I yelled, no one would hear me. I was doomed already.
I gulped, "What orders?" I would never let them know that I was feeling fear. I was shivering under the skirts.
Another one replied with a smirk, "Won’t you like to know," he joked. "I understand, someone as beautiful as you catch the eye."
The eye, of what, a nobleman? Again?
My wide eyes glanced at them all. I had to escape. There was no way I was going to get abducted again and this time, I was sure that I was not going to be carried to a brothel to be sold, rather I was being brought to the man itself.
This was not good. I won’t be saved this time. Instead of the courage that had previously flown in my veins, I now felt fear which had my legs shaking. I glanced at every one of them, there was no way I was winning against fully trained soldiers.
So I did the only option which I thought was available to me. I ran towards the hallway.
"Come back!’ I heard behind me but I did not stop I get it even more speed as a held at my skirts up. A sudden push came from behind and I fell with a heavyweight on top of me making me yell in pain.
"You don’t listen, do you?" I have someone whisper in my ear but I was too scared to look up. My whole body was paralyzed in fear because a man was on top of me and he was taking me to another and there was no one to help me.
"Pl-please. . .let go. ." I whispered and I could feel the tears coming to my eyes. I did not want this for myself. I have never imagined coming face to face with such trouble.
Someone laughed from above me. I had no idea who it was and I was too afraid to look. I felt them pull the back of my hair and push my head to the ground sitting me hard which had me become dizzy immediately.
The whole hallway as I looked up was moving around in circles and I wanted to stay awake. . That that was what I wanted, before long I had succumbed to the darkness, letting go of the fears.
*******
I felt movement. My body moved forward and back as I believed the carriage moved because I could hear the feet of the horse thudding against the ground.
My speculations were confirmed when I heard the horses neighing and my head being knocked against something as something must have collided with the wheel.
My hands were tied behind my back and so was my mouth. But the only auspicious news was that I was fully clothed, even my cloak was intact. So, until now I was all fine and maybe, by god’s will, I could handle what came my way.
The carriage shoppee and I was sacred once again but I kept my eyes closed so that the soldiers would not be aware of my consciousness. A dead chicken was better than the alive one, at least here I thought so.
the movement came and I heard the thudding of footsteps. I closed my eyes someone grabbed my legs and hauled me over their shoulder. It was mighty uncomfortable and I tried my very best to keep mum.
I closed my eyes and the cap of my cloak was still covering my face, thankfully so. I had no idea where I was being led to but before long, I was thrown to the ground.
"She is awake, you Highness." The same man who had been injured by me said and I closed my eyes even harder. How did he know?
"Welcome, Genevieve."
