The Princess's Dangerous Vampire Mate-Chapter 37: The wagon port - II
Second crowned Prince?
I could feel Merilyn looking at me and my breathing had quickened on hearing the words. There were chances that he could recognize me but I had not bathed in days and also, I had no rouge and scents to make me a princess.
"Ladies," The merchant addressed us, making us look at him, "You might want to stand with everyone. People are being partitioned and you don’t want to be separated from them." He handed us our bundles and along with his, we walked back hurriedly.
I have not forgotten what Marilyn had done which is why I purposely stepped on her shoes twice.
"Ah!" She gasped and looked at me accusingly, I glared back harder making her look down.
"There you two are." Gemma looked at us worriedly. "Where were the two of you?"
"Merilyn was busy trying to get courted by a merchant," I answered her query with a sincere look on my face.
"Merilyn!" Gemma chided Merilyn, who had no idea what to do. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"I-I—"
By the time she spoke, we had already heard the boots of the guards and horses neighing.
They were here.
Gemma pulled me close. "The prince is here. I heard at the palace that he had come and demanded an audience with you. What if he recognizes you?" Her whispers and creased eyebrows were enough to tell me that she was more worried about this than I was.
I shook my head. "I have no paste on my face and no rouge. I have no jewels on me that make me a princess and not to forget the fact that I have not bathed in three days."
She shook her head, not even convinced a bit. "I saw him at the palace," she whispered harshly, "He seems like a cunning prince and I am sure he would not forget the face of a princess."
Especially a princess that you had called to be eternally beautiful. A prince would Surely never forget a face like that.
"I can keep my head down here," I told her. "Leaving would not be an option here because every exit is guarded."
She nodded and I bowed my head.
I truly wished that he did not recognize me. Because if he did, I would either be sent back to my kingdom or be branded as its traitor in this one as I was a princess of another Kingdom and I had entered without permission.
"Psst,"
What unruly people?!
"Psst, lady Layla," I looked call my name and found it to be Aron.
"Yes?" I spoke out hesitantly. Why was he addressing me?
"Why are you not looking at the prince? Do you not want you to woo him with your beauty?"
Oh?
"No," I blinked and smiled at him, "I want to woo you." I stepped closer to him. "I Find you to be the most handsome man I have ever seen."
His eyes widened and he looked around in panic as I watched him. He looked in a particular direction but I did not raise my head to see who it was as it was dangerous for me to do so.
"Please don’t say it." He begged me with panic apparent on his face. "You do not know the consequences of what you doing."
I smiled flirtatiously, something I had learned from the concubine that had attracted my father often. Dare I admit, I have been practicing those in front of the mirror.
"Why so?" I blinked and looked down as if shying away, "I must not make the mistake of not appreciating a beautiful enough."
"Maybe you should make that mistake." Someone commented from behind and I found it to be Vaughn. "Some mistakes are better made than avoided."
"Yes yes," Aron added in a hurry, "Do the mistake. Make it."
The desperation on his face contributed to me not being able to hold my laughter anymore. Looking away I laughed loudly and I felt tears coming to my eyes. The man was so desperate.
"You!"
I stiffened immediately as my eyes widened a little. I knew that voice.
I had made a mistake. A terrible, terrible one at that.
"Yes, your highness?" Someone said from behind me and looked down at the gun chance immediately.
"Come with us to the palace." That was prince Lysar and I felt like he had seen me. But then why did he call someone else?
The girl did not get a chance to refuse him as he was immediately accompanied by the guards to where the prince’s stood.
He didn’t see me, dear god please tell me he didn’t.
I keep my head down the entire time the prince and their guards were here. As soon as they started leaving Gemma and I thanked the family for helping us. Now, we going to stay at an inn. Preferably a good one and the one where families often stayed so that no one would take us to be outsiders always suspicious of us.
"I think that one would be good." Merilyn pointed to an inn where there was still room. "Most of the inns are full, I think we should hurry and request one."
Might be the only thought that she thought right.
I nodded. "Gemma? What do you think?"
She stared at the inn. "It is in the center of the city and the families living in it would make it safe for us to stay. So, let us go."
Getting a room was easy. It was highly overpriced but since it was located in an area such as this it was a given fact.
" Do we eat now?" Merilyn groaned. "I do feel really Hungry." She patted her stomach which was showing. The moment we step back into the palace I will make sure to cut her meals.
"Go on," I said, "I would lock the room behind us." I offered.
Gemma and Merilyn stepped out of the room as I grabbed the key and moved out as well.
They were already at the end of the hallway and descending the stairs when I twisted to check if it was truly locked or not when someone placed their hand on my mouth.
