The Path of Immortality: Starts With Creating Water Bear Gu-Chapter 447: Shui Lao’s Revenge
Not long after the two departed, a group of people appeared at the location.
Gazing at the vast herb garden before them—where not a single spiritual herb was below the fourth-grade—everyone showed expressions of delight, their breathing growing hurried.
“How is this possible? In all previous openings of the River God's Secret Realm, such a large herb garden has never appeared. How did this place come to be?”
Looking at the garden not recorded in any ancient text, Jiu Kang cried out in shock, his expression turning grave.
“Heh, what’s there to be surprised about? Unknown elements already appeared in the first trial of the River God's Secret Realm. It’s only expected that more unknowns would arise in the second trial.”
“Looks like someone really did pour divine wine and divine tea into the river, which caused the secret realm to manifest more treasures and consequently increased the difficulty.”
He Jiong’s eyes burned with intense greed as he stared at the medicinal garden.
The number of treasures in the River God’s Secret Realm hadn’t merely increased—it was the quality that had reached astonishing heights. To see so many spirit herbs surpassing fourth-grade gathered in one place was truly blinding.
You must understand, sir, that spirit herbs beyond the fourth-grade have long been extinct in the Gu Realm. Any single herb from this garden would command an astronomical price in the outside world.
“Everyone, be careful. Where there are treasures, there is danger. The quality of spiritual herbs here is terrifyingly high. The existence guarding them is likely unimaginably dangerous—likely far beyond our capacity to deal with.”
Compared to the others who were almost losing their minds, Zhuge Yuan remained relatively calm. He frowned at the garden, his eyes full of caution.
Upon hearing this, the Gu Kings finally calmed down. None dared to recklessly charge in.
One of the Gu Kings, however, still burned with greed and muttered unwillingly:
“Treasure often comes with risk, true—but nothing is absolute.”
“Look closely—this garden has clearly been looted recently. The little pits where herbs were uprooted are fresh. The person who stole the herbs left only moments ago.”
“There are no traces of a fight in the garden. Clearly, whoever did this encountered no danger and was able to leave calmly.”
“I believe the threats in this garden have faded with time. Not all dangers last forever.” 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Upon hearing this, the Gu Kings examined the herbless pits carefully and confirmed the tracks were indeed recent. The garden had just been plundered—and whoever did it had left not long ago.
Now, everyone was filled with confusion.
Could such a treasure-filled location truly be devoid of danger? How could that be?
“Hmph! What’s so hard about figuring out if this place is dangerous? Just test it!”
Soon after, one of the Gu Kings took a horde of corpses from his Corpse-Raising Bag and dumped them on the ground. With a subtle chant, the corpses sprang into action and charged into the herb garden.
Everyone watched nervously as the zombies stormed into the garden.
The undead spread out in all directions, frantically harvesting herbs, even probing into the central areas.
Shockingly, these zombies combed through every corner of the garden without encountering the slightest danger. The crowd was now visibly stirred.
As the undead gathered more and more herbs, many Gu Kings' eyes turned red with greed. No longer able to restrain themselves, they rushed into the herb garden like madmen.
Reality had proven there was no danger. With countless high-grade herbs in plain sight, which Gu King could resist?
In the blink of an eye, everyone had entered the garden, leaving only Zhuge Yuan standing alone.
Zhuge Yuan frowned deeply, still unmoving.
“Impossible... Such a treasure trove—how could there be no danger at all? This is not normal. When things deviate from the norm, something is definitely wrong. I cannot step into this place!”
Suppressing his greed, he reluctantly took one last look at the garden, clenched his teeth, and quickly fled into the distance.
He did not know, that just moments after his departure, a humanoid monster descended into the area from thin air.
This creature had the shape of a man, complete with human limbs, but was charred black all over, as if it had endured countless lightning strikes. It reeked of burnt flesh and emitted a broken, flickering aura—it was clearly severely wounded and in dire need of rest.
Yet, upon seeing his herb garden looted beyond recognition—patches bald here and there like a field ravaged by dogs—and a group of humans still plundering what remained, his eyes nearly burst from their sockets in rage.
As if remembering something, the creature did not attack immediately. His eyes rapidly scanned the garden, clearly searching for something.
After a moment of fruitless searching, his bloodshot eyes flared with savage bloodlust.
“Where’s my baby?! Where did my baby go?!”
“You damned humans! Hand over my baby now—or I’ll kill you all!”
The humanoid shrieked in madness and charged into the herb garden.
“What is that thing? It's so black!”
“Looks like a sentient spiritual herb. We’re gonna be rich!”
“No—wait! Aaaah!”
Soon, the garden echoed with the sounds of intense combat and ear-piercing screams...
Meanwhile, on the other side—
The ground here was in ruins. Deep cracks littered the earth, and the ground was soaked, muddy as though a great flood had just passed through.
At the center of the battlefield stood a man, a broken corpse beneath his feet—mangled beyond recognition.
“Hmph! If my most powerful Gu insects hadn’t been decimated in that battle, you’d never have been this difficult to kill!”
“Shui Wuqing, you never imagined I’d return, did you? This is the price for not finishing me off back then. In the end, you still fell to my hands—HAHAHAHA!”
Having exacted his revenge, Shui Lao laughed maniacally, like a madman.
He had waited in solitude at the Thunder Swamp for a hundred years—and hated for just as long. No one could understand the satisfaction he now felt as he personally struck down his enemy.
Shui Lao laughed until tears welled in his eyes. At last, he squatted down and took the storage ring from the corpse. Then, with a flick of his will, a ball of water—burning like flame—slowly floated out from the corpse’s body.
Gazing at the water, Shui Lao's breathing quickened, his eyes burning with fervor.
“So this is the Dual-Yuan Heavy Water… As beautiful as I imagined, and far more powerful than Single-Yuan Heavy Water.”
“It must’ve been some anomaly in his body that caused him to lose control over the Heavenly Water’s power.”
“Otherwise, if Shui Wuqing had fully commanded the power of Heavenly Water, I might not have stood a chance.”
“But this is fate. Heaven willed his death!”
“Once I master this Dual-Yuan Heavy Water, my power will surpass even my peak. Then I shall become the number one powerhouse in the Western Region!”
Shui Lao clenched his fists, his eyes burning with ruthless ambition.
