The Path of Immortality: Starts With Creating Water Bear Gu-Chapter 446: Successfully Captured
Staring at the adorable little girl joyfully sipping tea, Long Xuan pondered for a moment. Suddenly, his eyes lit up—an idea sparked. A sly grin crept onto his lips.
“Enjoying tea, are you? Well, if there’s one thing I’m not short of—it’s fine tea.”
He still had some Enlightenment Tea left, processed specifically for cultivation. The quality of this tea far surpassed that of any tea tree in the entire herb garden. He didn’t believe for a second that such a divine-grade tea wouldn’t lure her in.
Wasting no time, Long Xuan took out a cup of Enlightenment Tea and placed it on the ground. He then retrieved the Disaster Poison Gu from his Insect Bag and commanded it to release a drop of its venom into the teacup.
The Disaster Poison Gu could replicate any poison it had ingested before. The venom it secreted this time wasn’t lethal but potent enough to cause instant unconsciousness.
“This tea?”
Noticing the aroma wafting from the cup, Zhu Jiuge’s expression turned extremely grave.
She always carried Shadow Tea with her and was an expert in tea tasting. Just one sniff, and she instantly recognized that the quality of this tea was unparalleled—far superior even to her Shadow Tea.
Upon seeing it, she finally understood why the River God Secret Realm had suddenly become more difficult. So this guy was the root cause behind the anomaly.
To secretly pour such high-grade tea into the river—no wonder the realm went haywire. This was indeed sinful.
She shot Long Xuan a sharp glance.
“No time to explain. Let’s go!”
After placing the poisoned Enlightenment Tea in position, Long Xuan, noticing the rich fragrance spreading rapidly, didn’t dare linger. He grabbed Zhu Jiuge’s wrist and left, eventually hiding in a distant, secluded spot. Both their gazes remained fixed on the direction of the tea.
Zhu Jiuge, already understanding his scheme, frowned slightly and whispered:
“Using such a childish tactic to catch it? A teacup appearing out of nowhere in one’s home—even a fool would suspect something.”
“Heh.” Long Xuan chuckled. “You’re not wrong. This plan wouldn’t fool any human. But this is a spiritual herb—newly awakened with low intelligence.”
“This trap might be full of flaws, but for a freshly-formed sentient spiritual herb, it might just work wonders.”
A confident smile spread across Long Xuan’s face as he looked toward the center of the herb garden at the little girl. Previously, he had no absolute confidence in the plan, but now, with Zhu Jiuge’s heaven-defying luck, the odds of success had greatly increased.
Sure enough, in his line of sight, the little girl with twin buns on her head twitched her nose. Her eyes lit up instantly as she looked toward a specific direction.
The aroma of the Enlightenment Tea was incredibly rich and long-lasting. Despite the distance, she caught its scent clearly.
As a tea lover, the girl was naturally knowledgeable. Smelling that fragrance, she took a deep breath, trying to inhale every trace of the aroma, and slowly revealed a look of intoxicated delight.
She discarded the cheap, watered-down tea in her hand and immediately ran toward the direction of the aroma with excitement, moving swiftly.
From Long Xuan’s perspective, the little girl stopped just a short distance from the Enlightenment Tea. Her eyes showed clear suspicion as she looked cautiously around.
But Long Xuan and Zhu Jiuge both possessed farsight techniques, and their hiding spot was far from the tea—far enough that the little girl couldn’t possibly detect them easily.
Zhu Jiuge smirked.
“Quite alert, huh? Looks like your plan is going to fail. I told you—such a shoddy trap wouldn’t even trick a three-year-old. How could she fall for it?”
Long Xuan shook his head and smiled.
“Let’s not jump to conclusions. It’s not over yet. Just wait and see.”
Though he wore a confident face, Long Xuan was starting to feel nervous. This sentient herb wasn’t as naive as he’d hoped. Her wariness meant it might not fall for the bait.
All he could do now was hope that Zhu Jiuge’s outrageous luck could bring down the herb’s IQ just long enough to make it work.
He didn’t have to wait long.
The little girl glanced around once more. Finding no visible enemies, her alertness did not decrease.
How could a cup of divine tea appear in her house out of thin air? Did they think she was an idiot? She was certain someone was hiding nearby, setting up an ambush.
Then, with a very human-like smirk, she suddenly opened her mouth and inhaled sharply—the tea flew directly into her mouth from a distance.
As soon as she drank the Enlightenment Tea, she let out a delighted “Yaya!” Her face showed a blissful expression. But before she could savor it, she turned to flee.
Unfortunately, the poison from the Disaster Poison Gu was too potent. She wobbled, then collapsed onto the ground, instantly falling into a deep sleep.
Zhu Jiuge facepalmed and muttered,
“She really is dumb. She guessed there was an ambush near the tea and tried to retrieve it remotely, but she never thought to question if the tea itself was poisoned. Hopeless.”
“Are sentient spiritual herbs really this easy to catch?”
Seeing the herb finally fall, Long Xuan let out a long breath of relief.
“That’s the price of being a glutton. Sometimes, knowing someone’s weakness makes capturing them laughably easy.”
Unable to wait any longer, Long Xuan rushed over. When he reached the little girl, a sly grin appeared on his face.
“You’re coming with me!”
He picked up the little girl and tossed her into his Gu nurturing pouch, where the Heaven-Devouring World Toad had already been waiting eagerly. It opened its mouth and swallowed her whole.
Suddenly recalling something, Long Xuan reached into the pouch again. When he pulled his hand back out, he was holding two small ox-horn braids.
“Here you go!” he said, tossing them to Zhu Jiuge.
“This sentient spiritual herb definitely holds heaven-defying abilities. Obtaining this treasure alone makes this entire venture worthwhile.”
“I’m not sure what relationship this little girl has with that red ginseng over there, but I plan to leave this trial ground immediately. I won’t be searching for any more treasures in this round.”
Zhu Jiuge took the braids, sniffed them briefly, but didn’t inspect further and simply threw them into her storage ring. Smiling at Long Xuan, she said: 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
“Those two herbs have lived here for who knows how many years. It’d be strange if they weren’t close. We’d better leave now—if that ginseng finds out we kidnapped its companion, it’ll come after us.”
“That red ginseng is no joke. I estimate it has an 80% chance of surviving its Life-Transformative Lightning Tribulation. Its combat power could crush any human Gu Cultivators in this secret realm.”
Gazing at the direction where the lightning tribulation was falling, Zhu Jiuge’s expression grew solemn.
Hearing this, Long Xuan’s scalp went numb.
“Let’s go—fast. We need to leave this world immediately.”
As soon as he spoke, he recalled his puppet army that was still looting the herb garden and quickly led the retreat.
Even though more than half the spiritual herbs remained unharvested, Long Xuan was already content.
His time in the garden had been short, but thanks to the sheer number of puppets under his command, he’d already gathered a substantial amount of herbs in a brief period.
