The Only Spatial Ability User In The Apocalypse-Chapter 49 No Zombies
After taking all the supplies from the convenience store, they headed towards the other store, which was a few streets away.
"There are still no zombies," Shaun said as he drove the car.
"Did the mutated tree consume all the zombies in the center of the town?" Leo also said, puzzled as he looked outside through the car window.
Major Kyle was also scanning the surroundings with a frown.
"It’s unlikely. There might be other mutated creatures. We need to be careful," Sylas suddenly said. An uneasy feeling started to creep into his mind.
When they reached the store, there were no zombies in sight.
"Strange, why does it feel so quiet?" Major Kyle muttered as he got out of the car.
Sylas’ senses were stronger than the others, and he could feel it more clearly. It was pin-drop silence in the area.
No zombies, no mutated plants, and no animals.
"Serena, can you feel any mutated plant nearby?" Major asked Serena.
Serena, who had just gotten out of the car, shook her head. "I don’t feel anything."
She had already absorbed the energy stone, and her overall strength had leveled up. But she could not sense anything. After Sylas, her senses were the strongest among all. Though no one was aware of it, Sylas knew that he was the strongest among them. If even he could not sense anything, then there were only two possibilities. One was that there was really nothing in the area, and the other was that there was an entity far stronger than them, which was why they couldn’t detect its presence.
"Let’s hurry and get the supplies before something happens," Major Kyle said with a troubled expression.
Just like before, Major Kyle and Serena followed Sylas as he stored the supplies in his space, and the rest guarded the area. Even though there was no danger in sight, they were all vigilant.
This time, even inside the store, there were no zombies in sight.
They were quick, and before long, all the goods inside the store were taken away.
"Next, we are heading to the gas station. We need gasoline, but before that, we need to make a quick stop at the hardware store on the way to take some jerry cans and containers for storing the fuel," Major Kyle said.
Sylas, too, wanted the gasoline. With space, he could store both his car and gasoline in it and could take them out and use them whenever he wanted. He had a car but no gasoline, so this was a good opportunity for him to stock up on gasoline inside his space.
"Are we heading to the gas station in Bluebird District?" Sylas asked.
"Yes, we are heading there. It’s not far away from here," Major Kyle replied.
Sylas frowned and said, "There is an amusement park, a mall, and a university next to it. A high-traffic area. Won’t it be considered a red zone too?"
"Yes, it’s marked as a red zone too. And not just any red zone its danger level is marked the highest. But we have no choice. The gas station in other areas has been looted, destroyed, or burned. We have also taken the gasoline from other gas stations, but there was not much, so we need to restock. There is not much left in the safe zone," Major Kyle explained.
"If there are no zombies there too, it would be easy for us, but if there are zombies, it would be tough to fight," Dylan said, rubbing his palms.
"If the number of zombies is overwhelming, we will turn back, so don’t worry," Major Kyle assured.
"Major, you can’t use your fire ability at the gas station. Be careful," Sylas suddenly said in a serious tone.
"I know, so I’ll have to trouble you guys if there is any danger," Major Kyle said.
Everyone understood the consequences if he used his fire ability, so they all agreed.
Abilities don’t disappear in dangerous environments. They become choices with consequences.
When they arrived at the hardware store, the store had been vandalized too. The store’s signboard was half dangling at an angle, and shattered glass lay on the ground.
"Still no zombies," Sylas said as he got out of the car.
"Something feels very wrong," Leo said as he looked around the street.
Sylas narrowed his eyes as he felt a faint trembling on the ground. It was very faint, but he still felt it.
Dylan got out and said, "I’ll watch the rear. You guys go ahead."
Shaun knelt down and placed his hands on the ground. "Can you guys feel the trembling of the ground?" Shaun asked.
"No. Can you feel it?" Serena asked.
"It’s very faint, but I can still feel it. Maybe because of my earth ability, I can feel it," Shaun said.
Sylas heard Shaun but still acted nonchalant. He too felt it because he had absorbed the earth ability stone. Apart from him and Shaun, no one could feel it.
"Shaun, keep the engine ready," Major Kyle said before going inside the hardware store with Sylas and Serena.
Inside the store, the shelves stood half-empty. Some tools were scattered across the floor. Aisles were overturned but not completely stripped. Whoever came here before hadn’t been thorough or hadn’t had time.
"There," Serena said, pointing toward the left.
Several jerry cans lay on that side. Some were still wrapped in plastic, others dusty but unused. It looked like those who came first also came for these cans. But there were many. Apart from jerry cans, there were also many plastic containers that could hold up to twenty liters of gasoline.
Sylas stored all of them in his space.
"Count?" Major Kyle asked.
"Ten twenty-liter cans and a few smaller ones," Sylas replied.
"That’s enough," Kyle said.
After taking the containers, they grabbed funnels, siphon hoses, gloves, and anything useful.
Sylas also stored many other useful things discreetly.
After securing everything useful, they exited the hardware store swiftly.
Shaun immediately started the engine the moment everyone was in and headed straight toward the gas station.
