The Omega Knight's Secret Baby Daddy is A PRINCE?!-Chapter 102: She was Gone.
Kaelis noticed it almost immediately. His eyes narrowed as he watched Ezra’s movements.
Ezra didn’t know what to do. For the first time in battle, he felt stuck.
He waited for orders, hoping Kaelis understood what was happening.
"Ezra!" Kaelis called sharply. "Don’t stop attacking them. Move faster!"
’Easier said than done. They’re faster than me!’
But Ezra was already moving.
His sword flashed toward another cultist who had gotten too close to Ricardo’s family.
"Captain Ezra!" Ricardo shouted, fear in his voice.
The cultist stepped aside.
Ezra’s blade cut through empty air.
Another strike followed.
Missed.
Ezra gritted his teeth.
"Stop running and fight me!"
But the cultists ignored him.
They continued to ignore him.
Instead, several of them rushed past him.
Straight toward Kaelis, who was already preparing himself.
Steel flashed.
Long daggers slid out from beneath their black robes.
Ezra’s eyes widened.
’Wait... they’re fighting Kaelis?’
They attacked together.
Kaelis barely had time to react.
One dagger came for his ribs.
He twisted aside just in time.
Another aimed for his throat.
Kaelis knocked it away with a sharp clash of steel.
More cultists joined the fight.
Four of them now surrounded him, their movements just as synchronized as before.
Behind them, the rest continued advancing toward Ricardo and his family.
Ricardo backed away, holding Larnie tightly.
Lanie clutched Ranie as the little girl began to cry.
"Daddy...!"
"Mommy!"
The girls’ voices trembled as they buried their faces against their parents.
Ricardo’s voice shook. "Stay behind me."
Ezra’s stomach twisted.
’No.’
He turned and rushed toward them.
His sword cut toward the cultist closest to the family.
The man shifted slightly.
The blade missed.
Another cultist stepped between Ezra and the family.
Ezra attacked again.
Missed.
Again.
Missed.
Frustration surged through him.
"Stand still and fight me!"
But they didn’t.
They kept avoiding him.
Moving around him.
Past him.
Always toward the family.
’Why won’t they fight me?’
Ezra raised his sword again.
Then suddenly—
A hand grabbed his arm.
Another seized his shoulder.
Ezra jerked in surprise.
Two cultists had appeared beside him.
Before he could react, two more crouched low and grabbed his legs.
Holding him firmly in place.
"What the—!"
Ezra struggled immediately, trying to shake them off.
But their grips were strong.
Really strong.
Unnaturally strong.
One of the cultists leaned closer to him. The silver mask caught the faint light filtering through the trees.
The man whispered.
"We do not wish to hurt you."
His voice was distorted, just like the leader’s.
"But we cannot allow you to interfere."
Ezra blinked.
Confused.
Completely confused.
’What?’
What the hell did that mean?
He didn’t have time to think about it.
Too much was happening.
Kaelis was struggling to fight off several cultists at once, their daggers flashing as they attacked from different angles. At the same time, the others were closing in on Ricardo and his family.
Ezra tried to kick free.
"Like I care what you think," he muttered at the cultists holding him.
But before he could even pull his leg back, two more cultists rushed in and grabbed hold of his legs.
Pinning him down even tighter.
"Are you fucking crazy?!" Ezra shouted, struggling with all his strength.
His foot barely moved.
Ezra twisted his shoulders, trying to break the grip on his arms.
Nothing.
They held him firmly.
Not striking him.
Not stabbing him.
Just restraining him.
Ezra’s mind raced.
’Why aren’t they attacking me? Why are they just—fuck, fuck!’
Behind him, steel clashed again as Kaelis fought off multiple cultists at once.
Blades rang through the forest as Kaelis blocked another strike, then another.
But there were too many of them.
And ahead of Ezra—
More black robes surrounded Ricardo’s family.
"Prince Kaelis!" Ezra shouted. "Ricardo and his family!"
But Kaelis was trapped in the middle of the fight.
He kept pushing the cultists back, parrying their blades and striking where he could, but with daggers coming at him from every direction he couldn’t move freely.
Not fast enough.
Not far enough.
And the cultists surrounding Ricardo’s family were getting closer.
"You have to watch this."
The cultist’s whisper brushed against Ezra’s ear.
Cold.
Calm.
It made Ezra’s stomach twist.
"What the fuck are you—"
The hands gripping him tightened.
"Watch."
Ezra’s head was forced forward.
His eyes locked onto the scene ahead.
One of the cultists stepped toward Lanie.
She tried to back away, still clutching Ranie tightly against her chest.
"No, stay back!" she cried. "Please, they’re just little girls. Please—"
The cultist moved faster.
A hand shot forward and grabbed her hair.
Lanie screamed.
"RICARDO! RICARDO!"
She was yanked backward so violently she nearly fell.
Ranie screamed too, her small hands clinging desperately to her mother’s clothes.
"Mommy! Mommy!"
"Lanie! Ranie!" Ricardo tried to rush toward them, but Larnie was still in his arms.
He swung wildly with one arm, trying to keep the cultists away.
"Let go of her!" he shouted.
Lanie twisted and fought, trying to hold onto Ranie.
"No! She’s just a child! Please!"
Another cultist stepped forward.
He grabbed Ranie.
The little girl shrieked as they tried to tear her from her mother’s arms.
"NO!" Lanie screamed.
She fought with everything she had. Clawing, kicking, holding onto her daughter as if her life depended on it.
’Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!’
Ezra struggled violently against the cultists restraining him.
"Let me go!" he snarled.
His muscles strained as he tried to break free.
But the hands holding him didn’t move.
’No. No. No.’
Ahead of him, Lanie refused to let go.
Even as two cultists tried to rip Ranie away, she held on with desperate strength.
"Please!" she cried. "She’s just a baby! I won’t let you take her!"
Then two cultists stepped forward.
Their daggers flashed.
Ezra’s breath caught.
’No—’
"Lanie, watch out!" Ezra shouted.
The blades drove forward.
One.
Then another.
They stabbed her.
Lanie gasped.
"No!" Ezra and Ricardo shouted at the same time.
"Mommy! Mommy!"
"Mommy, no!"
The sound that left Lanie’s throat wasn’t even a scream.
Just a broken breath.
Her grip loosened.
Ranie’s cries grew louder, more frantic.
"Mommy! Mommy!"
Blood spread across Lanie’s clothes as her body sagged.
Ricardo froze.
His eyes widened in horror. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
For a moment he didn’t move.
Then Larnie slipped from his arms.
"No, Ricardo, don’t let go of your daughter!" Ezra shouted. "What are you doing?!"
The little girl stumbled when she hit the ground.
"D-Daddy?"
Two cultists grabbed her immediately.
"No!" Ricardo shouted, snapping out of his shock.
Both girls were screaming now.
"Daddy!"
"Mommy!"
The cultists dragged them away while Ricardo stood there, staring at his wife collapsing onto the forest floor.
Lanie’s body hit the ground.
Blood pooled beneath her.
Ricardo’s face went pale.
His legs gave out and he dropped to his knees.
"Daddy!"
"Daddy, save us!"
His lips trembled. His eyes darted between Lanie and his daughters.
Then Lanie, using what little strength she had left, turned her head toward him.
A single tear slid down her cheek.
"Don’t... let them take them..." she whispered weakly. "I... trust you..."
Ezra felt his throat tighten.
He looked around desperately for anything that could help him break free.
Anything.
"Lanie," Ricardo sobbed as he crawled toward her. "Lanie, please. Don’t leave us."
"I... I love you..." she whispered faintly. "You gave me so much happiness... so I have no regrets..."
After Lanie said those words, her strength finally gave out.
Her eyes slowly closed.
Her chest rose once... then stilled.
And just like that—
She was gone.
